IVF babies due in October

Re: IVF babies due in October

  • I'm 6 weeks 2 days and yesterday was my last estradiol (estrogen) pill and last PIO shot!! I'm so glad to be finished with those, but hope my body is producing enough on its own to sustain pregnancy. I trust my doctors, but it still makes me nervous. I will continue Endometrin inserts through week 9. Anyone else stopping meds soon?

  • @babywhit17 I've had a lot of spotting on and off. My nurse told me as long as it is not red flow then that is often normal with ivf pregnancies. I am 5+2 first ultrasound is Monday. I can't wait.
  • @babywhit17 I finally stopped my estradiol and PIO this past Wed at 8w3d. My RE office waits until 8 weeks (day of last appt) before stopping. I started endometrin Thurs and have to do them until 10 weeks. I can't wait to be done with the meds!

  • Cautiously joining here! I am 5 weeks tomorrow following my first FET with one little snowflake. First and second beta at 8dp5dt and 10dp5dt looked great. One final beta scheduled for 2/28 and then onto a 6 week US. POAS continue to be positive. lol I am still testing like daily. I just don't feel any different so I need the tests to validate everything is still moving along!!!

Currently taking daily PIO and compound progesterone and estradiol suppositories. Also EIO twice a week. The IM shots are getting OLD. RE wants to keep it up through the first trimester. That seems crazy to me. How long did you guys have to continue injections?
  • Kicks rocks over here, I wish I got to stop meds at 8 weeks :(

  • @brela11 I'm glad to hear you RE told you the same thing! It's just so nerve racking. I will feel better after Tuesday's appointment, we should be able to hear the heartbeat.
  • Hey ladies, how is everyone feeling this week? I'm not sure if this is going to be an ongoing thread, or if we will be creating new update threads for IVF babies but I want to keep up with everyone.

  • @ChocolateIsLife Can I just say that all I want to do is lay in bed and sleep all day.  The placenta should be fully functional this week so I thought I'd have more energy!  This should be my last week on the meds....can't wait to stop them. My last set of labs showed that my estrogen had really skyrocketed while my progesterone hovered around 21 so I'm assuming that was an early indication that my placenta was starting to work.  Here's to hoping that Thursday night is my last night with PIO! I have to say that the injections are not so bad now but I think it's because I've since developed numb spots  :s

Are you ladies doing anything special for graduation? I should be graduating this Friday and would like to give my RE and the team that I interacted with the most a nice but inexpensive thank you.  I was thinking of sending an edible arrangement maybe?

  • Hi Ladies

feeling really tires and anxious for Friday if everything is well I think I will be graduating to my OB.  @SwtAnana I think an edible arrangement is a wonderful idea.  I might do the same

@swtanana I am so happy for you that you get to stop PIO soon!!! Each milestone we pass with PGAIF really feels like a big step towards the finish line. I absolutely love the idea of sending a basket to the IVF clinic! Flowers are nice, but food is better <3 Edible Arrangement sounds perfect, and I think I'm going to have to copy you.

I am so tired and just want to go to a spa for a weekend that is prenatal friendly so that i don't have to worry, and mocktails and chocolate covered strawberries throughout the facility.  :D As well as naps.

@cherrybea I'm sorry you are tired and anxious for Friday. I think you are going to rock your appointment and will be celebrating graduating on Friday!

Do you ladies have your OB set up for when you graduate?

I cannot wait to stop the progesterone inserts...2 more weeks. Hope everyone is doing well!
  • @chocolateislife yes I have my OB appt for next Thursday the RE suggested I make the appt after my first U/S so that I can get in once I graduated  how are you feeling? Please take me to the spa it sounds like heaven LOL
  • Hi Ladies

had my u/s this morning it was suppose to be the last before I meet with my reg OB next Thursday.  But I was a bit concerned and RE said she would see me again next Wednesday before OB appt due to the fact the baby was measuring a day behind last Friday and today it was measuring 3 days behind the HR is still in the 130s which RE says she is comfortable with because it's in the normal range.  RE said she was not too concerned but would have been happier if I was measuring on target.  I'm so worried now not sure what to think.  Has anyone has had a similar experience
  • @cherrybea I'm sorry you are going through a scare right now. When I went in earlier this week, I was measuring 2 days behind, but he said it is very normal this early, and only a rough estimate. He also said generally 3-5 day -/+ is given on these scans so it isn't something to stress over. I'm sorry, I know that doesn't help, but what he said helped me in the moment because I am nervous about pretty much everything now that I'm pregnant. Hugs and FX that everything is perfect on your scan next Wednesday. <3

  • @ChocolateIsLife thanks hope all is well with you too
  • @cherrybea I'm surprised they made a big deal about a couple days....my RE says that a few days is NOT an issue.  I imagine your RE is just being ultra observant and that there isn't a real concern.  I read that as long as baby is within 5 days, that you're fine, especially since you have a great heartbeat.  I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry about it because she hasn't actually given you any info that would point to something being wrong. You asked this in the other thread but I'm just gonna answer it here:

My first U/S at 7w2d my RE said he doesn't listen that early due to the potential risk of causing a problem with heart development.  He was guessing it was around 120 which he seemed pleased with.  Today, I forgot to ask...I flat out didn't even think about it until I was already driving home.  I could see the flicker and it was much faster than at 7w2d....and my RE said that everything was "textbook" so if he's happy, I'm happy!

  • Anyone having twins and experiencing spotting and cramps? My nurse said spotting was more normal with twins and IVF.. but gosh it just brings back bad memories of my miscarriages!
  • Thanks @SwtAnana  your feedback gives me much needed comfort
  • Has anyone gone off their IVF meds yet and if so have you experienced any symptoms or side effects?  Or, has anyone who has done this before experienced any side effects when they went off meds? I'm scheduled to stop my meds in a week when I'll be 10 weeks.    I'm currently on 1ml of PIO a day and 0.3 ml of Estradiol Valerate in Oil every third day.

  • I'm 6 weeks today. Ultrasound booked for Wednesday. Nervous about it.  This was our first frozen embryo transfer. We transfered 2 embryos.
On PIO  daily and  2X  a day Estrace. I think my RE office keeps us on it for a while yet.
  • I stopped my meds this past Friday after a good U/S and after my labs showed that my placenta had kicked in. I was 9w3d. No side effects yet...just the feeling of pure joy and freedom!!!!

I asked if I should expect any side effects and I was told "no"...so far that has been true.

  • @sophiakam my re has me weaning off progesterone.  Stopped doing the shots last week (at 9 wks) and this week I'm only doing suppositories nightly which I'll stop at 10 weeks this Thursday, along with the estrace which I take nightly.  Got an awful migraine this am which I'm thinking was from the progesterone getting out of my system as I've read this can be a side effect.  Was nervous to stop but today at my OB she said placenta looks good and everything is growing on track so going to trust that!

  • @engsetrgirl no twins here but I've had lots of spotting. I had an ultrasound today at 6+4 and they sound an sch. She thinks it's healing but warned me id have more spotting before it's gone
  • Hi ladies unfortunately this is goodbye for me for a while.  I had another ultrasound this morning and The baby's heart stopped beating I'm having another miscarriage going to take some time off to regroup and heal
  • I'm in and out of labs today with crappy service but will respond more when I get home.

@cherrybea my heart just sank while reading this. I am so deeply sorry that you are going through this, and it just isn't fair. Please do take time to heal, and know that we are all here for you. Big hugs your way. <3

Finally had my ultrasound yesterday and now can relax a bit after seeing our little peanut with a HR of 163 and measuring right on date. 8 wks today. We also breathed a huge sigh of relief to only see one baby in there this time. :) We love our 21 month old twins dearly and wouldn't change anything for the world... But hoping to have a more "normal" pregnancy and first year after this time around.

@engsetrgirl spotting and cramping are normal with any pregnancy, but much more likely to experience those symptoms having two in there. My "morning" sickness (aka all day sickness) was also much more intense with my twin pregnancy compared to this singleton.

Looking fwd to sharing this with you ladies! Here's to long, boring, uneventful pregnancies...

  • So very sorry for your loss.
  • We're going for our ultrasound tomorrow. I went in for a emergency ultrasound and bloodwork Tuesday  since I suddenly started bleeding a lot. RE wasn't too worried after the scan and rising hcgs...but I'm nervous for tomorrow. I had two band aids on me today. One on my butt from the progesterone shot and another on my hand from bloodwork this morning.
  • @cherrybea So sorry for your heartbreaking loss. Thoughts and prayers coming your way.

  • Thanks ladies for the reassurance! We went in last week. Baby A was measuring at 5w6d and had a HR of 97 and baby B was measuring at 6w2d and had a HB of 119... of course the stupid tech said 97 was low and she wasn't sure about that baby? Seriously not her place and caused such worry for me. RE said anything over 90 at 6 weeks is fine. I'm thinking that the heart had probably just started beating!!!
