IVF babies due in October

Hi ladies,

My husband and I are in our first round of IVF and have discovered I'm pregnant after a fresh embryo transfer! I found IVF to be a lonely road, and would love to open a discussion with other ladies expecting IVF babies. We have different things to contend with in the first trimester, including continued progesterone injections and monitoring with our REs before being transferred to our OBs. We are still early in our pregnancy, 4 weeks. Where is everyone else at?

  • Hi and congratulations! I conceived through IVF also - a frozen transfer with a 5 day embryo. It was quite the road and so happy to finally be here!
    6wks 2 days
  • Congratulations to you both! No IVF for us, but I do have to use a topical progesterone twice a day for the first 12 weeks.

I am 5w6d with our 1st 5-day transfer.  I feel so freakin' lucky and am so grateful that things are progressing as expected.

Don't know why I was expecting to "feel pregnant"....I feel pretty normal!  I feel like I could be having mild PMS symptoms if anything.  Just praying we see a heartbeat next week so help me relax a bit.

  • Hi, thanks for starting this. ..I cringed when I first read the other threads and you know why.
I'm 5w1d after 5 day FET of one non-tested embryo. I'm counting down until Monday,  Feb.  13 for first US!
I have no s/s except pregnancy brain and sensitive to smells, both symptoms that I always thought were so weird!
Glad to see my friends @SwtAnana and @cherrybea from Jan FET.
These groups are so helpful. Good luck and thoughts with all of you as we journey on!

  • Thanks how are you feeling Swtanana
  • @cherrybea Not too bad actually.  It's hard to decipher what's a "pregnancy symptom" versus an exaggeration of what I normally feel.  Today I had some non-painful cramping/pulling/tugging so that was reassuring that things are probably still moving along.  Can't wait til my next ultrasound to look at that heartbeat (next week!  :s)

  • I am 6w4d after having a FET with one day 5 blast in Jan. I can't wait until I am done with these PIO shots! I never knew how involved IVF was until I started going through it!  This is my first pregnancy and I'm feeling pretty good. :) My next ultrasound is Mon.

  • Yay! Hi everyone! Congrats to all. Thanks for joining the board. ❤ I'm still only 4w2d and starting to get weird about food. Crampy too, not sure how much is the progesterone since it's so early in the pregnancy. Second beta test on Tuesday. Guessing our first ultrasound don't be til the 6 wk mark.
  • Happy to be back here! First IVF was 2.5 yrs ago with 2 embryos, now my 2 yr old B/G twins. FET of ONE embryo this time and beta today was 462, so I'm 4w2d. FET was much less work compared to the fresh cycle, but I agree, the butt shots are starting to get old. I'll do them for the next 36 wks though if it means a healthy child (happy to stop them at 10 wks though too). Congrats to all you other momma out there, especially my fellow IVF mommas... Been a long road.

  • Just got the results of my second beta this afternoon 2013 so progressing well first ultrasound will be on Monday 2/13.  Fx everything will be ok with my little bean.
  • @cherrybea wow those are great numbers!
    Congrats @MrsStork , @kdel921, @vanproos, @sunday1111 , @babymish and @Cythe  I'm so excited to meet and share with you all!

I'm still doing good. We found out Monday that we will have a niece/nephew a week before me. My bro- in-law and his fiancée announced they are  (accidentally ) pregnant five minutes after we told them. They knew we were doing IVF, and my husband knew their news and still let them steal my thunder. It was not ideal, but I had to get over it quickly since they'll be close cousins and hopefully best friends! It's going to be a long 8 months though. Poor thing was in the hospital from dehydration and vomiting blood last night though. Hoping my future doesn't mimic hers.
    Have a relaxing weekend ladies!

First ultrasound today was not good.  There were two small gestational sacs (we transferred one) but no yolk sac.  We are devastated since so high just this morning.  I have to go back Thursday for double check,  but she wasn't hopeful it would change.  I'm not sure how you get over your first loss.  We had finally done it!
Now in in another club,  the miscarriage after successful FET. UGH.

I'd like to say I'll keep in touch,  but need to take a breather.  Good luck to you all.

  • @ JESSABER0214 it may just be too early to see anything further.  How far along are you?  I know how you feel though in a similar situation although my RE assurred my it is still very early and that she was not expecting to see anything more than a sac.

AFM:  We had our first ultrasound this week and the RE saw to sacs.  I don't know what I'm more anxious about the fact that she saw two sacs or the fact that she only saw the sacs.  My RE assurred me that at 5weeks 2 days she really wasn't  expecting to see more than just the sacs and that the progression is normal.  She wants to see me again in two weeks.  Now I'm anxiously waiting for the next two weeks to fly by.

  • @cherrybea I'm 6w5d. So, only measuring 5w2d was not hopeful because should have been more and we know exactly when the 5 day embryo was placed. I'll hold a glimmer of hope but not for long.

  • @ Jessaber0414 prayers that everything progresses nicely and it just took a little longer to implant than expected.
  • Today one of my good girlfriends just told me she is 10 weeks pregnant. I'm EXTREMELY happy for her...but in a weird way I'm sad for myself. Sad that we had to go to great lengths to get pregnant. Sad that if something happens, we'll have to start all over and it won't be as "easy" for me as it was for her. The cloud of infertility forever looms :(

  • SwtAnana- I know what you mean.  With my first baby, we did fertility treatments.  She is now 17 months old.  I somehow got pregnant with out fertility treatments this time, but I will always identify as an infertility mama.  Once you go through the pain, tears, shots, etc there is no going back.
  • @swtanana I totally get the conflicted feelings of happiness for her, but sadness for yourself, and I think that is completely natural. I too am hoping for this anxiety to go away at some point. I am having a difficult time accepting that this is real, and feel like it's going to be taken from me at any minute. I'm hoping to feel a little less anxious after I get my second beta tomorrow.

  • Hi everyone, I like the idea of an IVF board as we certainly have some unique circumstances. We did a FET with a 5-day embryo and got a BFP on Jan 31st.  I am 6w5d today and really can't wait until the day I can stop getting shots in the butt everyday and stop using the vaginal inserts that ooze out of me.  (gross!) This is also my first pregnancy and I'm 40 years old so the combination of AMA and first time pregnancy has my anxiety in mega overdrive, feels like this is my only chance at kids!    On Wednesday we had the first ultra sound and saw a flicker of a heartbeat (124 bpm) and a yolk sac so that was very encouraging and my RE was happy.  I have another u/s on Tuesday and if that goes well I will have graduated from the RE.  YAY!
Does anyone else worry that once you stop taking progesterone shots/inserts your body won't know how to do it on its own and your levels will drop?  Ah the crazy things I worry about.
Also, did anyone else do PGS testing?  The one embryo we transferred was PGS tested.
Anyway, looking forward to "chatting" with you ladies hopefully till the end.  Best of luck to everyone.
  • @babywhit17 congrats!! Looking forward to this journey with you gals as well!

@sophiakam I worry about that too. Even though I hate the suppositories, I know they are a factor in this being a successful pregnancy, so I don't want it to stop! I think at 10 weeks though, their should be enough progesterone naturally produced to where it isn't necessary anymore. Still scary though. I did PGS testing as well, and the embryologist chose a girl (just told him to choose the strongest). At this point I'm trying not to overanalyze every single feeling (or lack of), but it is more difficult than I ever imagined.

@brela11 congrats! FX for you scan tomorrow!

  • Hi Ladies, I'm 5 weeks, 6 days today and had my first ultrasound yesterday and woke up bleeding. My RE said it was normal following a transvaginal ultrasound. I'm still taking PIO and estradiol until Friday and will continue the progesterone inserts until week 9. Scared DH and me to death this morning. Anyone else experience this?

welcome! If you're taking suppositories (inserts) as well as just had a transvaginal u/s its very likely the bleeding is coming from an irritated cervix. Of course, there is no way to know for sure until the scan but the more stuff you stick up there, the more likely it is that its going to get irritated and bleed.

  • Thanks @Cythe for the reassurance. The bleeding lasted less than 30 minutes and I haven't had any cramping all day. Hopefully it was just irritation from the ultrasound and suppositories!

Hello! I am currently 4w6d. We decided to try IVF once. We've adopted 2 boys through foster care in the last year and a half, and are in process of adopting a 3rd little angel who has been with us 9 months.  We did a 3 day transfer and so far so good! Beta at 4w3d was 715 and 4w5d was 1406. Still can't wrap my mind around being pregnant! Excited for my first u/s on Tuesday!

Congratulations everyone! Ivf is not for the faint of heart. What a crazy journey, but worth it!
