@dancegurl1118 thanks! We thought it was a great compromise between being surprised and having a few personalized things when the baby arrives. (I am a sucker for all the personalized newborn gear on etsy.) It's also great because she lives out of state, so I won't see her everyday. I don't think I could do it if it was a friend or family member I saw on a regular basis.
Not sure if this question goes here, but it didn't seem to fit anywhere else and I learned this at my anatomy scan: is anyone else carrying really low? I don't know if it was just baby's positioning durinf the scan, but the tech kept commenting on how low he was. She wasn't concerned, she just said everyone carries different. But she had the probe pretty low in my pelvic region to get a good image of his head.
@kat0607 I carried really low with DD. For my ultra sounds the tech always commented about how far down she was and how she was hiding in my hips. I haven't had my AS yet with this one, but I feel like she's the same. When the doctor has looked for her heartbeat I felt like the Doppler was in my pelvis and no where near my stomach! lol
Curious if anyone measured big and if the doctor was concerned? Baby is in the 90th percentile which is freaking me out because I'm worried about gestational diabetes and having a huge baby!
I agree with everything @mj8215 said. I was also told today that anything between 10 and 90th percentile was not a concern. In addition to that, sometimes babies grow in spurts, so it's possible that you caught the baby right after a growth spurt so you're in the 90th percentile right now, but if you (for some reason) had another scan in a few weeks, that would drop a bit.
Also, an anecdote, I measured big my whole pregnancy with DS. I did have gestational diabetes, but my blood sugar numbers were always in control with diet alone, so my doctor was never concerned. He was born at 8lbs 6oz (not sure how that compares) and ever since the first week he's been at least 90th percentile in every measurement. It's never been a concern to the pediatrician.
I had my anatomy scan today. Everything looked good, but I was measuring about a week ahead. They wanted to move my EDD back to July 2, which is what it would have been based on LMP, (I actually don't think they would have mentioned moving it if that date hadn't already been in my chart from LMP) but my charting and early dating scan put it at more like July 9. Not a huge deal, but my doctor doesn't like to let you go past 42w, and my first son came at 41 weeks, so I just want to be sure I don't end up in a position where they're wanting to induce me if I'm still pregnant by 7/16 and we don't know for sure if that's 42 weeks or not.
I talked to the CNP about it, and felt like she totally understood where I was coming from. The other thing that came up is that I have a low-lying placenta, which is probably no big deal, but because of that they'll do another ultrasound at 28 weeks to see where it is. So the CNP said after that U/S we'll have more growth info to be able to reassess and talk about EDD again.
I also have a history of GD, so if I'm diagnosed again this time, it might be a little more concerning that I'm measuring ahead. So I'm trying to keep an open mind about how/when I may end up delivering. 4 weeks til my glucose test. Now that I'm feeling better I'm going to try to make better diet choices with that in mind.
@AdaByron So glad it went well, all things considered. Eating healthier and even taking 10 minute walks after each meal helps tremendously with GD, according to my last OB. Hopefully your placenta moves up a little as you grow so that it doesn't become an issue.
Had our A/S this morning, and it's a girl! Team pink! It took a little getting used to(husband asked when we were out how I felt and I was honest and said that I was happy but conflicted, as I don't know why I imagined two boys sword fighting with sticks and playing in a treehouse), but now we are super happy. And I am starting to picture it and get excited! A boy and a girl, I am one lucky lady!
I also started to feel consistent movementioned for the first time today and feel so blessed to have a posterior placenta.
Curious if anyone measured big and if the doctor was concerned? Baby is in the 90th percentile which is freaking me out because I'm worried about gestational diabetes and having a huge baby!
Me!
Just got back from my scan. Everything looks "perfect" but the abdomen is measuring 90th percentile. I've been flagged for the three hour GD test (nightmare for a needle phobe). Some quick googling shows I don't really have any of the risk factors, and DS was always in the 85-95th percentiles for everything, so I'm trying not to let myself stress. This kid is measuring large all around, too. We managed to stay Team Green. The baby was playing with its nose, so we didn't get a good 3D shot, but that's ok. Just happy to hear all is healthy for now.
Just got back from our AS scan, and we are the proud parents of a little BOY. It was rather obvious. I'm not sure how you Team Greeners make it lol. She was looking at the heart, and he curled up and bam. Anyways, everything is perfectly healthy. He was measuring 4 days behind at the NT scan, but now he is only 1 day behind and 11 ounces! I wonder how accurate it is. I'm kind of prepping for a big baby! On a side note, on the way home we had some wacky car troubles. That will be a fun story to tell him someday!

A/S was great. May need to go back as she had trouble capturing a couple shots. We confirmed that he's a boy (boy parts!). The pic of his face/skeleton is kinda creepy. But just because it's a skeleton.
I had my a/s yesterday. It's a boy!! Everything looks good and he's healthy! But... when I had my scan at 8 weeks he was measuring a day ahead. Now he's a week and a day ahead. I didn't see a doctor yet but the tech said they will probably want me to come back in and get checked for GD. Looking like my due date might change too.
I couldn't even open this thread before my scan, so much crushing anxiety. I cried before it started, and the entire office was trying to comfort me. They were very sweet, but I'm pretty sure it cemented that little "crazy pg lady" note on my file. It went well, everything within normal limits. Only concerns are a low lying anterior placenta (I have to have a c/s and it's in the way right now) but the mfm is confident it will move up. And then they are watching my c/s site closely due to some notes about a very thin lower uterine segment by the previous surgeon. If it gets too thin we may have to talk about taking the baby early so I don't risk labor.
Oh and I seriously barely cared at that point but it's a THIRD GIRL. Yesterday I was just so relieved and exhausted that it didn't process, but today I'm so freaking excited. DD1 says she looks like a horsie lol
@ThePecks I agree with what was already said. My MFM said the same thing- he was very confident it would move up as my uterus expanded. I know many ladies who had the same thing and it resolved itself. I only know one who had a c/s for it- and she and baby were both perfectly fine. Big hugs I know it's not fun to hear anything "worrisome" at these scans (I have my own experiences with that and no matter what anyone says you will still worry).
Just an update (in case anyone was wondering haha) after our fetal echo. Our baby definitely has a R sided aortic arch, and the concern there was that the subclavian artery on its way to the correct side would wrap around the front of trachea and esophagus (while the aorta is in the back of them), causing a ring to form around them and possibly giving her breathing and swallowing issues after she is born. She was, of course, super squirmy throughout the echo plus the structures are so small that they can't say for sure but they did not see an aberrant subclavian, which I'm taking as a good sign! He still wants us to meet with the neonatologist on Monday so that they can be aware and present during her birth just in case she has any issues and they'll repeat the echo after she is born just to be sure, but if she has no ring then it's just a benign variant and she'll have nothing to worry about for the rest of her life. If she does end up having a ring, then it's a simple procedure to fix and she should still lead a normal life afterward. I hate that there's still some uncertainty left, but in the grand scheme of things I'm glad that it's not a more catastrophic finding and that either way she will likely be just fine! Thanks again for all of your well wishes!

@manillabar What wonderful news! I am so glad nothing more serious was found, and hopefully the ring won't form and she won't need surgery to fix it. Sending you all the positive juju and thoughts your way.
thanks @mamadcb! The fetal echo was honestly not much different than the anatomy scan except that the tech spent the majority of the time focused on her heart. She did a couple of other measurements in the head, abdomen, and extremities which she said was to check to make sure that her growth was still appropriate for the gestational age. And then she spent about 30-40 mins taking various images of the heart, looking at flow through the heart and the major vessels, and we heard the heartbeat quite a few times during it as well. I was falling asleep at one point, lol. Then we waited for the cardiologist to read the images and then he finally came in to talk to us. It wasn't too bad but it was a long appointment. They actually told us ahead of time to set aside 2 hours for the entire appointment, and our appointment was at 10am. They called us in late, maybe 15-20 mins late and we got out maybe 5 mins to 12pm.
Good luck with yours on the 6th! Hope you get good news! Feel free to pm me if you have any more questions or just want to chat.
So so glad to hear your update @manillabar !!! thankfully the experts are on top of it and, if necessary, aberrant right subclavian/ vascular ring is something they are excellent at fixing, yay!
so we had our anatomy scan today, too. Baby was very cooperative and everything looks perfect
Had our scan on Thursday and baby girl is healthy and still a baby girl My OB was super nice and messaged me after hours to tell me the results which was super nice since the Techs can't tell you anything.
Had my scan yesterday and everything they could see looked good. A student was doing it and she had to get everything checked and had a list to go back for at then end. One of those was lips, and by that point the baby had its hands up over its face so she couldn't get a good shot. Also couldn't get good heart pictures (I was 18w4d) so have to go back in 2 weeks, is that normal? We are team green and I thought I'd find it hard not to find out the sex, but I was so concerned with everything looking normal I didn't even care!

Totally normal! I was about the same and they struggled getting heart pictures too. She finally got them but said I would have to come back just because everything is more developed in a few weeks. She said it happens all the time.
It has taken me awhile to come back on here because I got super busy after my A/S. We went on 2/17 for the A/S. I was super nervous the few days leading up to it, I was so afraid that something was going to be wrong. Thankfully once I was called back we got straight to the point and the peanut was moving around like crazy, the tech asked if I could feel it and I said no, that's when they told me I have an anterior placenta, so this will drive me crazy! We found out we are having a BOY and he was sucking his thumb almost the whole time. The look on my husbands face when he found out he was having a son was probably the most amazing thing.
The next day we had a gender reveal with our family and a few friends. My dad (who raised 2 girls) actually cried when he found out he was going to have a grandson.
@kem0514 I will also never forget my husbands sweet reaction at the A/S finding out he was having a healthy son. He was fighting the tears and then had the tech and me crying, too. Seriously one of my happiest moments I will never forget. Congratulations to you and your family!!
I had my scan on Thursday. things went well--baby is healthy and was squirming all over. I have to go back in 2 weeks for another look at the heart and then maybe a fetal echo. My second daughter was born with 3 holes in her heart so they are being extra cautious with this baby. (All 3 holes closed on their own within a year.) They tell me there's nothing alarming as of now. They did diagnose me with placenta previa which is concerning. They told me it should hopefully move up but to be prepared for a c section if not. I was given a lifting restriction of 20 lbs and put on pelvic rest. They said I'd go back for another ultra sound later in the pregnancy to check on the progress. They scared me a bit because they told me to watch for bleeding and to go to the nearest hospital if it starts happening. I'm such a worrier--trying to keep myself from googling it because I know I'll see worst case scenarios. Also, we are team GREEN again (I was for the first 2 kiddos too). Fingers crossed things progress as they should.
Well, it's official. It's a GIRL. I turned to DH when the tech told us and said "I was right!". LOL.
She (I can't believe I get to say that now) is measuring between my due date based on my LMP and my due date based on my ovulation date (I definitely kept track). So, we're looking at a kid that will most likely be late. Awesome. Everything looked fine, but the doctor wants me to go back in 3 weeks for a follow-up ultrasound. Some of the pictures weren't as clear as the doctor wanted. Fine with me. I get to see the little one again.
She also appears to have big feet. LOL.
