I thought I'd start a thread for us to AW ourselves. Let's share some happy stories and/or recent wins. Adulting and parenting can be so hard sometimes, but let's celebrate whatever wins we've had recently!
My 19 month old pointed at a picture of a duck at the mall and said duck clearly today. Her language is pretty unintelligible for her age and only I can really understand her so a clear word was a win for me!

I guess mine would be that my oldest has made it to 11 without me going insane lol. His bday is today. Having a child who is dx ADHD,ODD and Anxiety going through the preteen years is quite an experience.
@dancegurl1118 That's such an awesome win! Both my boys went through YEARS of intense speech therapy. DS1 didn't speak until he was 2.5 and that's after a year of speech therapy. He has Apraxia of speech and is now a perfectly articulate 2nd grader! DS2 is in kindergarten and still does speech therapy, but his intelligibility is worlds better and he's doing so well. Speech wins are so wonderful!
@mslynn2012 Potty training wins are the best! I had such a horrible time PTing my two boys and feel like I still have ptsd from it all. lol Hopefully you're be diaper free soon! Well, until July
I made a delicious meal...and actually wanted to eat it today! Hopefully this is the week that takes away the 1st trimester sypmtoms! FC! (in almost 15weeks now)
@supermom83 my sister is a SLP so I know when the time comes she'll be there to help us. I was in speech therapy myself because I was self aware of my impediment from an early age. And look...I survived enough to talk about it

Not so much an AW for my family, but I score swim meets for my High School (they asked me to, since I'm a former varsity swimmer, and now I teach at the high school from which I graduated). Anyway, I was scoring tonight and one of our Sophomore divers broke the school record!! I'm so excited!! What a night!
I've been trying to stick with healthy soups and salads since I've been pregnant. At my appointment today they weighed me and I lost 7lbs since last month. Which I really am trying to keep myself to a minimum weight gain since I started this a little plumper than I would have liked. Hopefully I can keep making the healthy choices.
This is a half win but, I found out because of how my insurance works that a hospital birth won't be any more covered than a birthing center birth, so if all goes well I will get to go to the facility I want!

No recent wins for me but all this potty training talk makes me think of a funny story my mom told me about how it went with us. She told me the weirdest thing. One day I told her that I don't want to wear a diaper to bed anymore (at the appropriate age when you pt), and she went with it. And I was totally dry and never had an accident! My older siblings took a very long time to adjust. So weird that I was so confident in my ability not to pee in my sleep at such a young age. Really bizarre. Well I wish us all kids like that lol!
@Itsnotyourturn amazing! I am stuffing myself with junk food! I can't stop. I wish I had your self control. I'm usually really healthy but trimester 1 is beating me up.
I don't know if it's a huge win but I've never been able to look at random ingredients in my cupboards and fridge and plan a meal from what I find but tonight I did and it was so good!

The past two days have been the best I've felt in AGES! I actually feel like myself again, which is a huge relief (I was starting to think the first tri symptoms were never going to subside). I cooked a healthy meal and went to zumba today. Hopefully this energy sticks around

I have lost 10 pounds since finding out I was pregnant. I have completely lost my sweet tooth and only want salad, veggies & fruit. I have to force some protein down. I guess its true that our bodies really do tell us what we need. Good luck on a happy, healthy pregnancy and it continues after LO is born.
My kid participated at dance without screaming for the first time in seemingly months. We had cupcakes for dinner.
Congrats on this. It can be tough! But I bribe my daughter with ice cream ever single dance class and the results are amazing! Her attitude about it has completely changed.
This isn't an AW as much as a "my heart is happy" but a really close friend of mine moved far away this fall, and she was back for a visit so we had a lovely dinner with my girlfriends. It was SO nice. I feel like I haven't been as social lately because I've been so sick and tired, so this was a nice change.
My little girl is doing great in speech therapy. We started right after she turned two years old last June. She is using more words and trying to use words. I could talk about early intervention all day long.
We had some very good potential news on a commerical property that has been nothing but a financial, time and stress pit. We tried selling it 3 years ago but nothing came of it. We remodeled and opened a store/pizza kitchen but for the last year we put more money in every month than it was making. We decided to close it November and we're just going to use it as storage and the physical location for our corporation for tax write off purposes. This week we got a call out of the blue that probably the wealthiest guy in town wants to buy it. We will still sell it for less than we bought it but we will get this albatross of our backs, and we can write off the loss against our income. Fingers crossed it goes through - it would mean so much to us.
Edit: I guess this isn't a true AW but it's all I can think about now lol

I really feel you. My son is 9 and autistic, and we're just starting to hit the tween 'tude. But he's really a good kid, otherwise I might have gone insane a long time ago, lol.
Our AW was yesterday, we finally took down all our Christmas decorations! We got everything organized and boxed up.
Last night I made homemade breadsticks like from yeast and all. Plus I also made fettuccine alfredo. Soooooo amazing and I was craving it all day since I knew I was going to make it. However I ate 3 bites and felt full.
@DarkSerendipity Thank you. My son isnt a bad kid but he can be very trying sometimes. He is very smart so thinks he can out think me during our arguments. I just have to remember it's not always his fault when he acts the way he does (I can usually tell the difference between normal and ODD outbursts).
Wish I had something to add. In the second tri and am puking/queasy more than EVER. Didn't realize that was possible but now I go to bed puking and wake up puking...but I didn't puke before bedtime tonight. Omg I did have a AW moment to add.
Eeeee! Major, massive accomplishment for someone who almost never gets to finish projects! I finally finished my first book. As of last night, it has an ending! It's taken 8 years of revisions and revamps, stops and starts, and massive life changes. But it's finally done!
Not as big, but big for me - I've been invited to write a monthly column for an online magazine! I have been saying for years that I want to get back into writing. This just kind of fell into my lap, and I am stoked!
Besides, the editor is a badass woman who I totally connect with. Super pumped to be working with her. Thank you, universe!

I'm so thrilled to see writers in our group! I write for small online businesses and blogs for my side biz. My full time job includes writing and editing too but it's not on a topic that I enjoy (financial industry) so it doesn't feel as fulfilling. Congrats on the new job!

I like this thread! congrats on the book @DarkSerendipity - its sci-fi right? I'll probably want to read it
also, @virginiaunicorn11 congrats girl! So awesome! I read your posts often thinking that you should have a column! Very cool and exciting and the editor sounds like a great mentor too! Now I'm totally trying to guess which online magazine it is lol.
my AW is that we just got another round of anonymous evaluations from senior faculty and mine were really great, much better than the evaluations I give myself in my head (I have a lot of confidence issues / self doubt, so it's nice to get good feedback).
You lovely ladies seem to have a lot of energy haha. Send some my way pleeease
My AW for the day. I got my 5 year old daughter to clean her whole room, and I didn't even have to bribe her! Shocking! Also! My 1 year old took two naps today and he went to bed early. SCORE

Thank you! It fits into a couple genres, actually, but you may still like it! @virginiaunicorn11 That's so great! And it's awesome when you can finally get back to doing something you love, with great support behind you! Congrats!
My AW today is that I got normal test results from the NT blood draw and finally started telling people! Everyone is so happy. When I get back to work (I'm out sick) I can tell my boss at last.I hate keeping it a secret.
I am done! I finally finished my last class of undergrad and officially have my bachelors in Political Science. I thought I was done last May but with a new advisor and new requirements one single class slipped under the radar that prevented me from graduating. I finished it today and I seriously want to cry. My mom passed away in the middle of my first semester and I didn't think I'd ever go back and finish. Well two kids, lots of tears, and a couple years later I am done and now I'm going to talk to my principal about a permanent teaching position.
