Re: Tuesday Ticker Change 1/10

  • How far along?
    24 weeks!!!!!!!

    How big is baby?
    the size of a cantaloupe...

    Any Appointments?
none this week. Next week I have my glucose test and we get to take another look a this little girl!

    Symptoms:
    HEARTBURN, and it's horrible.

    Cravings:
sweets, mainly chocolate cake, brownies and cookies! Ahhh the unhealthy stuff.

    Rants/Raves/Questions:
Rave: DH and I stocked up on daipers last night at target. I'm loving all this preparation that we're getting done for baby!!
Question: any ideas for GTKY? I always get stuck when I'm making the Ticker Change each week!

    GTKY: favorite food?
I would definitely say Italian. I love it all. Baked Ziti, Spaghetti, lasagna and the list goes on!

How big is baby? Spaghetti Squash

Any appointments this week? Quick check-up on Friday

Symptoms? I've finally gotten in the habit of taking my heartburn Rx, and everything else seems to be OK right now.

Cravings? I've had a pretty big sweet tooth and basically lose control in the afternoon when DS is sleeping.

Rants/Raves/Questions? My husband and his parents have been going to Florida during speed week for as long as he has been alive. I think racing is about the dumbest thing on the planet, but I've going along with it since we've been married. Last year we had a 4 month old, so thankfully we got to stay home. This year, since I'm not super pregnant yet and DS is a little older I said we could go (thinking my generosity and willingness to cooperate would earn me some points I could use later). Turns out, I will miss FOUR CONSIGNMENT SALES while we are gone - including my very favorite one. I cannot believe I didn't check the calendar before I agreed to go, and I keep getting re-mad every time I think about it.

GTKY: what is your favorite kind of food? (Italian, Chinese, etc?) I am a sucker for some good Sesame Chicken, but I could eat MEXICAN every day. For those of you poor, unfortunate souls who live in parts of the country without white cheese dip... I feel for you!
  • @emilyalso: Do any of the consignment sales have "preview" days? Would you be able to go a few days ahead and pick out some things and maybe put them on a 24-hold and ask a super-nice friend-type person to pick them up for you once they're on sale? Just spit-ballin here. But yeah, that really stinks! And all for some brownie points with the hubbs. I feel ya.
  • @lilylover27 my dr hasn't measured my fundal height yet either. I remember with my first pregnancy she waited later into the pregnancy so I'm not too concerned.

  • Hi Tuesday friends!!

@Kipperoo that is great that you're setting up the maternity leave system for your office!!

    How far along? 21 weeks!

How big is baby? Dragons egg or endive. I have the exact same practical knowledge of both of these objects.

    Appointments? Next week.

Symptoms? Still tired. I think partly just from not being able to be out and about. I'm like a hibernating bear.

Cravings? No. Not really into food, it's super weird.

Rants/raves/questions? Husband is repainting our bathroom (yay!!) and the smell is horrible (boo!) so I've kept the door closed all day with a window open and fan going. Daughter's tiny potty is in the hallway, and she's so confused! "I need to wash my hands!!!" Ugh, but I don't want to smell paint, kid!

Favorite te kind of food?  I like comfort foods- Mac n cheese, cornbread, those kinds of things. And I love good fruit in season. I miss it so much in winter!
  • @Kipperoo That is amazing! Go you!

@lilylover27 They haven't measured me yet, but I am a bit behind you. She did feel to find the top of my uterus and said that was where it should be.

How far along are you? 21 weeks

How big is baby? Endive (what the heck is that? off to google)

Any appointments this week? Nope. Crap, I was supposed to get blood work though and forgot. Guess that is gonna have to wait until Friday.

Symptoms? Feeling pretty good. Right hip hurts if I walk a bit more then usual and I get lighting crotch sometimes.

    Cravings? Sugar and cheese

Rants/Raves/Questions? Nothing really. Snow day today!

GTKY: what is your favorite kind of food? (Italian, Chinese, etc?) Today it is Italian because I have been wanting it bad and hope to make a yummy ziti recipe tomorrow I saw on Rachel Ray during my 1 hour glucose test. Not sure I will make it out to the store though given the loads of snow and now freezing rain.

  • @emilyalso my dad is a huge racing fan so I know what you're talking about! I never was into it but my brother was and they would go to speed week!
@SWE2 glad the AS results were right on track!
@kipperoo that is amazing you are setting up the maternity leave standards for your job!

  • How far along are you? 20 weeks -- halfway point, hurray!

    How big is baby? Banana

Any appointments this week? Anatomy scan on Thursday!

Symptoms? Weird dreams lately, but otherwise good.

Cravings? I have a major sweet tooth lately. I actually baked an entire chocolate cake last weekend just because.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm starting to get anxious about all the things that need to be done before May. We're turning our guest room into the baby's room, and I have to figure out where to move/store the furniture currently in it. I've also been trying to streamline my 2 y/o son's toys to make room for the return of baby stuff. We moved from a one-bedroom apartment into this house right before he was born, and it felt like a palace at the time. Now I totally feel like we need a bigger house. How did we get this much stuff?!

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of food? (Italian, Chinese, etc?) Probably Italian. Mmm, pasta.
  • @Kipperoo: That's awesome. Well done, you!

@SWE2: I hear you on missing delivery. I used to live in NYC, and Seamless happily fulfilled all my cravings during my first pregnancy! Now there's only a handful of places that deliver where we live, and I'm so bored of the limited choices.

@lilylover27: I never had my fundal height measured during my first pregnancy. The practice I went to at the time had a small u/s machine, so I guess they kept track of the baby's size that way? They haven't measured fundal height yet at my new practice, but I'm also not as far along as you.

@slowmo , this is my dilemma, too! We lived in NYC for a while and got so spoiled! Now, I just find myself bored with all of my options.

  • Hey Tuesday Tickers!

How far along are you?  23 weeks

How big is baby? a bunch of grapes or a grapefruit (so ambiguous)

Any appointments this week?  phone appt this morning with a geneticist counselor re: the findings from my ultrasound (an echogenic intracardiac focus was found). She was quite surprised she received the referral since the finding is considered normal especially in that everything else was normal and on track and that my bloodwork (NIPT and Quad screening were low risk). She said the new studies reveal no correlation between EIF and Downs Syndrome and that the NIPT can detect Downs 99% of the time. Basically she said, the risk of losing the baby after an amniocentesis (which is already super low) is higher than the chance of my baby having Downs Syndrome. WHEW! I think I just needed to hear it from the expert. So no amnio for me and I'm happy as can be.

Symptoms?  left groin pain, shortness of breath

Cravings?  salt n vinegar Lays chips (lol)

Rants/Raves/Questions?  so we are back on the house hunt (ugh) as negotiations didn't go as planned. Also, I'm a bit surprised that I don't have more done for this little one... although I can attribute most of it to not knowing where we'll be living. A brand new house, a great fixer-upper deal, or still in this rental until we find the right place.

GTKY: what is your favorite kind of food? (Italian, Chinese, etc?)  I'd have to say Mexican since there is such a variety and it's all yummy!

  • @mrsrep123 , I'm so glad that the genetic counselor was able to ease your mind!! It's always a good idea to get extra opinions if something is weighing so heavily on you. And I'm sorry the house negotiations didn't go as planned...that's sucky. Hopefully you will find a winner soon!!

  • @mrsrep123 I am so very glad to hear that you got good news from the doctor today!!
  • @Louise_Belcher - OMG, that woman is speaking my language! I am totally in the purge-like-a-mofo phase. I have made about $20 selling my son's old toys on my swap group. Now I can buy more storage bins!
  • How far along are you? 22 weeks!

How big is baby? Size of a coconut.

Any appointments this week? No. Two next week.

Symptoms? Insomnia is back. I'm getting really bad leg cramps at night if I stretch too much. On the bright side I'm really starting to feel the baby move now!

Cravings? This week it's been grilled cheese and tacos.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Saw the OB again on Friday. My cervix is still shrinking but the cerclage is holding well. They are going to evaluate me over the next few weeks to see if I'm going to have to start steroid therapy.

I'm super bummed right now that I can't exercise. I had a really good routine going! I had this big plan to be really strong for labour and now I'm worried I'm not going to have the energy to get through it.

Ugh. I feel like such a Debbie Downer. I am enjoying being home right now though. Boredom hasn't set in yet and I'm thankful I've got the time to just take care of myself instead of stressing out at work every day.

GTKY: what is your favorite kind of food? (Italian, Chinese, etc?) Mexican! And Thai   I'm one of the lucky ones that thinks cilantro tastes like heaven. Can't get enough!

@MrsFox2008 hooray for being prepared! I don't have any ideas for you. I think you've been doing a good job so far

@emilyalso I don't get racing either. But I also don't get basketball or baseball so I always figured it was a 'me' problem. That really sucks about the consignment sales.

@SWE2 congrats on the anatomy scan results!

@Kipperoo that's awesome you get to write that for your company! I was thinking of you guys this morning. How is your husband doing today?

@Squirtgun I'm going to be painting the nursery this week and I'm not looking forward to it for that exact reason.

    @Louise_Belcher yay for another ultrasound!

@mrsrep123 I'm so glad the genetic counsellor was able to put your mind at ease. Sorry the negotiations fell through.

  • @SKZW - I wish! Most of them start on Thursday or Saturday, so we'll even be gone for the pre-sales. #devastation

@lilylover27 and @CherryBananas - I just don't GET it. I've told him several times that if it were like the Kentucky Derby (one lap, under 2 minutes, DONE!) that maybe I could tolerate it. I am not a huge sports fan, but I don't have disdain for the big ones (baseball, basketball, football...) like I do for NASCAR.

@slowmo - We gave up our dining room to turn it into a playroom, and it's already full to bursting! Now I'm thinking we need to finish the basement to accommodate everything for children!

@Louise_Belcher - I'm sorry if you've talked about this before... maybe I haven't been following closely enough. What is it that makes you not qualify for an epidural/forceps/vacuum? (Feel free to refer me to an old thread if you've explained it all already.)
  • @emilyalso No problem. I certainly cannot remember everyone's situations either. I have low platelets outside of pregnancy (ITP) that drop even lower during pregnancy. The hospital threshold is 100 for an epidural and I dipped below that at about 17 weeks. Last time steroids did nothing to raise my numbers. They don't allow forceps and vacuum because of the baby's chances (albeit very low) of suffering an intracranial hemorrhage due to having low platelets (also low chance) because of my anti-bodies crossing the placenta. There is no issues due to this during the pregnancy, only possible problems during delivery.

  • How far along are you?  21 weeks today

How big is baby? Size of an Endive

Any appointments this week? None this week.

    Symptoms? Acid reflux/heartburn

Cravings? Still craving tacos and now onion rings

Rants/Raves/Questions? So excited to be having a baby girl.

GTKY: what is your favorite kind of food? (Italian, Chinese, etc?) Italian food
  • @mrsrep123 , I don't drink soda, either, so I'm guessing that's why I have SUCH an adverse reaction to that glucose drink. I felt sick almost all day and did not, sadly, get mac and cheese.

@CherryBananas, thanks for thinking about me! We are doing ok. Obviously, my husband is still dealing with it at work and feeling sad. They've been doing a lot of grief counseling at work and that seems to be helping him. And on an unrelated note, if you haven't already picked the paint color, check out Benjamin Moore paint. It's a little more expensive but I find it has less paint fumes (or at least they aren't as strong). That's what we used when we painted the nursery a few weeks ago and I had no trouble being in the room!

  • @Kipperoo thanks for the suggestion! We used a different brand (CIL I think) when we did the guest room and it wasn't TOO bad, but my nose has been a little more sensitive the last little bit. We have a Benjamin Moore close to here so I'll go check it out
