You should see our guns, DH has an obbsession. His prize is a Browning automatic shotgun his grandfather gave him, one of the first automatic model, only about 200 made.

  • @ashaw512 I'm jealous of the crossbow. I low key want one so bad but DH thinks I'm kidding every time I mention it. I don't shoot the bows, just him, so I guess that's why he thinks I'm kidding.

I actually don't like it as much as I like my Hoyt. It's almost too easy, like a gun. But don't get me wrong, I do like it and I have used it plenty, just not as much.
  • @ashaw512 DH's dad is Navajo so his hunting is very traditional, when they hunt elk they are only allowed to use bows, no guns because FIL says it is an unfair disadvantage to the animal. So knowing that the crossbow is easy to shoot would make it a big no in our family and now I'm sad lol.

Probably would go better in an early monday bitchfest, but I have noone else to vent to. We are staying at MILS house until we get our new property set up. So, because we are grateful for being able to stay here in the meantime with our sweet son, I really hate to bitch. But really, what is with all the pork? I hate pork. I do not like ham, pork chops, pork roast. I just do not like pork. I just opened the fridge, and there's like five packages of pork, gross. Everytime she makes it and she super salts it, I eat a little so as not to be rude, but I also don't mind veggies for dinner either, so from here on out, I am on strike. I cook too, but things like chicken, shrimp or steak. Also, we have been here for two months, and she very recently has let hygiene fly out the window. She is quite a large woman, so a shower everyday would be ideal, instead of once a week. I can smell her vagina, constantly. Well, it alternates between that and urine, as she is incontinent, which isn't her fault at all. But I have noticed that when the pads do make it into the trash, they are super full, and the computer chair in the living room... We'll it has been christened. To be fair, she has had a bad cold, and so I do not think she could smell herself, but personally, I tend to be quite conscious of any body odors, and take care such things very quickly.

  • Also, my son kept climbing onto the table and unrolling paper towels and getting into mils breakable snowmen, that are for some reason in Carson reach. I kept telling him no and putting him on the ground, and he gets up on the chair again, then slips, falls and hits his chin first on the edge then his head on the floor. I should have been loving and comforting as I picked him up, but I was pissed. I yelled at him "I told you no!" And he cried harder. Man, I hardly ever lose my cool. I don't feel bad yet, but give it 5 minutes, and I will.

I'm currently living with my 81 yo grandmother with my hubs and 18mo son and I feel your pain!!! We decided to live with her because she lives about 5 miles from my husbands work on Capital Hill in DC and it made the most sense until our house is ready (Feb 10) but it's been 7 months!!! After getting pregnant I can't stand the smell or even sight of sausage in any form and I've made it perfectly clear. However she goes to the store and buys pounds and pounds of sausage; every kind, Italian, breakfast, spicy, links, patties, you get the picture. And unfortunately my son is EXTREMELY picky but loves sausage so it's a battle every single time we open the fridge because he sees the "sa-sa" every time and I refuse to let anyone cook it. SO FRUSTRATING!

Sorry I have no help with the personal hygiene issues. I think that should be your husbands job to say something just like I'd very nicely mention it to my gma if the same situation was happening here (especially with the pork too! I think he should nicely remind her how much you like her cooking but not particularly her pork dishes) hope things resolve quickly for you! I feel your pain!!

Thank you for commiserating, it helps. Is your house under construction?  Actually, I don't like her cooking. Everything is processed, and when she makes anything with ground meat, like sausage (I cannot stand either, it tastes/smells unclean if that makes any sense) she never drains it. I tend to be a very clean eating person, I cannot eat this way.  What happens to the sausage if it doesn't get cooked? Does it go to waste because it goes bad? If I have ANYONE staying with me, I am always curteous of their dietary preferences, you don't serve hamburgers to vegetarians for example.

Being around someone with less than ideal hygiene has never been an issue for me, as my mom was always super clean, and even showed me how to thoroughly clean myself when I was 10. I will do the same for my daughter. Vaginas are not meant to smell like flowers, but they shouldn't smell like a fish factory either.

Yes, well sorta! We're having a home built in Woodbridge Va- about 20 miles south of D.C. And we broke ground in July but keeps getting delayed! I understand COMPLETELY about it not feeling clean. My gma doesn't have a working dishwasher and hasn't in 30 years. She hand washes everything and I never feel like things are truly clean! No, I put the sausage out in our garage deep freezer. I swear we have 15 packages of sausage out there- the worst part is she doesn't even eat sausage!! It feels personal!

I agree, personal hygiene is huge. And I feel like as an adult woman she should know that!
  • @CarsonsMommy your situation sucks with your MIL. And im sorry, I couldn't help but giggle at "I can smell her vagina."

  • @SaphireSweetie88 I'll take a picture when he gets back!
  • This is going to sound more like a whine, but I'm right on the verge of finishing my book. This is a project I've been working on since 2009, and has gone through so many revisions and revamps. I'm really proud of how far it's gotten.
But I just haven't had the energy to get up off my ass to do it. I've been so distracted and exhausted.
So...I'm just going to have to adapt my writing schedule to something similar to what I was doing a few months ago when I was writing like crazy, and get this bitch finished.

  • @satsumasandlemons I'm pretty sure it's a first trimester thing. I'm starting to feel not as tired and foggy-headed, which was a huge issue, because I couldn't really form sentences!

  • @caribbeanmama - I'm mobile and haven't updated my siggy in LITERALLY 2 years if DS has curly hair in that photo - but thank you, I do miss it! Luckily about a year after that photo we were blessed with a baby girl who looks identical to him (curly hair, blue eyes and all!).

  • @chiquita928 - I have heard of the term "sprinkle", and am not opposed to them (although I wouldn't want one for myself), but this was her 3rd kid AND her 3rd shower! Towards the end of the party one of the guests made a comment that she hoped to not come back to this venue for yet another shower - I LOL'd so hard! (My cousin has had all 3 showers at the same place. 3 showers there within 5 years..)

  • Little did I know our weekend plans would consist of a facial wound yesterday AM. My little guy fell and hit his face on a hard plastic toy and it scratched/cut his eyelid/side of eye. He was freaking out and I was to because of the blood. I finally got it to a slow tricking after a few minutes and we had it glued by a friend(who is a doctor). It's in a horrible spot. He's OKAY now. Just a big black eye and looks like he lost a fight. Poor guy. It wasn't a gash, just a good scratch. So I have been 'gone' on here since yesterday AM. Hope I didn't miss anything exciting. This board is so active, I don't have time to catch up. Haha

I'm attempting to dust and organize. Send help. LOL.

Thank you; you are kind! The strangest part was the fall didn't look that bad. That stinking toy was just in the wrong place, wrong time! He's a happy camper now but it looks nasty today.
  • @LoveLee85 so sorry about your little guy! Head/face wounds always seem to be the scariest because they bleed like crazy, we've had a few "house looks like a murder scene" accidents and they don't get any easier to deal with.

No idea as to why so late but I assume it closed because there was talk of a previously closed thread on there.

  • Someone be really mean to me and tell me how awful I am for even considering it. It's been a shitty week, my husband is out of town pretty much all month, so I'm soloing with a toddler. This headache will. not. let. up. DD has decided she's done with naps, and we have been snowed in all week.

I really, REALLY want a glass of wine.

There are sooo many crazies! I was reading the chit chat board under speciality and even the 1st trimester board no wonder you all need to be "snarky" or this place would be a wasteland.

I am solo'ing it for the next two weeks, have a near constant headache, but you definitely win - my kid is 5 so can entertain herself and is pretty self sufficient and its definitely not snowing here in Los Angeles! Cheers, mama, hope tomorrow is better!

Thank you. Looking back he handled it much better than I did. I need to work on that! Yes, the blood....oh my! Thank goodness it wasn't as serious as the blood made it seem in those first few minutes. I'm sure this never gets easier! This was our first nasty fall...

  • @lovelee85 kids bounce back so much quicker than their mommas. When my youngest was 14 months he got his hand smashed in a window and I had to call 911, I couldn't lift the window off his hand it was an old, big and heavy window and I was beyond hysterical - I remember the EMTs being more concerned for me. His hand was swollen but no broken bones or anything. 2 weeks later after all windows had been nailed shut (kidding...not kidding) he managed to shut the same hand in a door and lost a fingernail. I was about to manfucator a giant hamster ball for him and he was just finding more ways to get into mischief.
