We plan to tell my parents next weekend, after making sure everything at our first appt tomorrow is normal. 

The problem, they live 3 hours away, so we're meeting at a restaurant in between us. I really want to tell them in person, since it's the first grandchild. Does anyone have any cute ways to tell them at a restaurant? I feel like toting gifts in with us would be weird/obvious. I thought about having the waiter/waitress deliver a card to them and some glasses of champagne or something?

I'm sure I'm overthinking it, but any recommendations would be great!

@MrsVP614 You could buy a passy and put it in your purse, and then some time during the meal say, "Hey I got something that I think you might need when we come visit you," and pull out the passy. 
This is my parents' first grandchild as well, so I'm giving them grandpa and grandma mugs

mrsmgsee  me too! Which will be early for us (only week 8)...but I live in a small town so word will get around quick enough with the results out there (and our family already knows etc). Looking at doing something like this. I have little red/grey booties and a onsie with red writing on it so I am going to use those in our announcement.

@BecauseLove I'm doing the top one with little red Toms! And then I'm also doing a onesie with a red heart that we will hold up. I will also be a little early, only 9 weeks, but I'm okay with that ☺

I'm torn....I have 2 announcements I love that I found on Pinterest. I may do both for my scrapbook and then send out the prayer one  Perfect for how long we've waited for this little miracle!

I had a loss around 8 weeks and my family and close friends knew already. It was actually helpful to have their support and thoughts and prayers. I think long ago people hid miscarriages because they thought it was something to be embarrassed about, but sadly losses rarely have anything to do with mom doing something wrong.

I'm only 4+6 now, but we already told both sets of parents (yesterday). We skyped them and told them. At first H's parents seemed a little surprised we were telling them so soon, *TW loss* but I just said, "last time I felt really bad that you only heard about the loss after the fact and didn't get a chance to also celebrate the excitement, so we wanted to tell you as soon as we could this time" They softened immediately and seemed genuinely appreciative that we told them. Obviously, that's a personal preference though, and a lot of people prefer privacy in grief. I prefer people knowing what I'm going through so I don't feel like I have to explain every little thing along the way, so we were pretty open about our loss last time and we're planning on telling early (not facebook, but family, friends, and people in our department at work...I'd tell them about a loss after anyways, so I might as well tell them the good news first!)

My parents reaction was amazing though...my mom was saying about how she wants to come visit us again so much (we visit Canada once or twice a year, and she's only come to visit us in Europe once so far) and I basically yelled "how about in September?!" and held up the onesie. She and my dad both screamed and she just burst into tears. She couldn't even talk for a minute or two.

Just announced to my parents that they are going to be grandparents! I gave my mom her mug and sent my dad a picture of his. They are so excited! My mom cried for several minutes.

If all goes well, we're planning on making the announcement at our wedding reception. We're going to place an envelope with a copy of the US and the due date in the center of each table with the words "do not open until toasts" written on it. Then when my husband and I stand to give our thank you toast, we'll have everyone open the envelopes at once. This was his idea and I love it!

Perhaps an unpopular opinion here, but I don't think this is a great idea. There were times in my life that if I was a guest at your wedding and was surprised by an announcement like this, I would have had to leave the wedding. Depending on your guests (and only you know this), there may be people at your reception who would be extremely hurt by having something like that sprung on them when they didn't expect it.

@rainafire77 I think that's a super sweet idea if the wedding is uber small and intimate. If it was larger and you perhaps didn't know someone's significant other or something all that well, you might trigger emotions if anyone had recently experienced a loss etc....stemming off of what @sarahufl said. 
When's the wedding by the way!?! So exciting!

We plan to tell my siblings next week (parents already know) if all goes well. They will each receive a box with a word on the inside and if they put their words together it will say a baby using the phonetic alphabet. Then on the inside bottom there will be a picture of our ultrasound.
