RE NYC recommendations?

Hi all

I have not been 100% happy with my RE during my last two cycles, and having just found out that my last cycle was not successful either I'm thinking of finding a new RE.

At the moment my RE is at IRMS in NJ, however I'm thinking I might want to find one in NYC (where I work)

Does anyone have any recommendations.

IVF#1 Sep 2016 (4 eggs retrieved, 2 matured, 0 transferred due to DNA breakdown)
IVF#2 Nov 2016:  Estrogen &  Ganirelix.   Stimming: Loprun, Follistim, Menopur. (7 eggs retrieved. 3 matured. 0 transferred due to PGD results)

IVF#3 Feb 2017: Estrogen priming. Menopur, Follistim and HGH

Re: RE NYC recommendations?

  • I feel as though I've been to appointments with drs at almost everyone there is, RMA, SIRM, and the one I'm at Neway. I'm going to NYU and Cornell in the new year. NYC IVF and CCRM don't take my insurance. SIRM seemed to be selling me the works. RMA didn't like the dr and was much more expensive than every other clinic but gets the best ratings. Neway is cheap and the drs do most of the monitoring (one lab tech for their days off). I love both drs. My problem and why Im looking is that my embryos aren't developing properly but other women there don't seem to have that problem.
I forget the specifics of your case?

  • I highly recommend Dr. Grifo at NYU (38th and 1st). He has been with me every step of the way and is as much of a therapist as he is a great fertility doctor. My husband even likes him and he is skeptical of all doctors.
  • I'm happy with Dr. T at SIRM ... though I'm a difficult case and was looking for someone willing to try "the works". Depends on what you're looking for. I feel like I have a voice in my reproductive health. Others love Dr. Wang at SIRM NY as well. Depends on your diagnosis and what you're looking at getting from your RE.

@Oxinfree I've thought of meeting with Dr T at SIRM because I met with Dr O and I wonder if she just want the right fit for me. She gave me a 3 month timeline from IVF to transfer with no wiggle room and I thought that was a bit extreme. But I think I didn't understand that she wanted to do ERA tests also. My NK levels tested 1.7% higher than their recommended and they suggested interlipids and steroids which I wouldn't mind doing but changing clinics for 1% didn't sell me. But I still have the embryo quality issue so I'm thinking I have to switch clinics.
I also didn't like that they charge you for ultrasounds, which cost me $90 through my insurance.
  • this is great feedback, thank you ladies. I have DOR and the embryos that we are able to extract aren't developing to be able to be transferred.

I'm going to check which of these recommendations are covered by my insurance and go in for a second.. and possibly third opinion.

    Good luck to you all.
