how long?

For the ladies who have resumed sex with their SO, how long did you wait?  I had a vaginal delivery, and two stitches from tearing, so my Dr. said 6 weeks.  It's only been 2 weeks and a few days..idk if my DH and I can make it 4 more weeks!  As much as I want to have sex right now, I know my body isn't ready, but I already feel a lot better so maybe I will be ready by in 2 weeks? DH and I are keeping it above the waist right now but it's hard.  In my 3rd trimester my libido was crazy high.  Two weeks before my LO was born I got the stomach flu and the week before I was in and out of the hospital so DH and I haven't had sex in 4 weeks now, and it's taking it's toll.  He is really sweet about it, but my libido is back and 4 more weeks feels like forever!! Any advice?

Re: how long?

  • Don't do it until you get the ok from the doctor. Just because you feel in the mood, doesn't mean your vagina is ready. There are other things you can do, I'm sure I don't need to paint you a picture.

  • The issue isn't the tearing and pain. The issue is that when your placenta tears away from your uterine wall, it leaves an open wound. That, and the fact that your cervix is most likely not fully closed, leaves you open for infection. This is why doctors tell you to wait 6 weeks usually before putting anything in your vagina, including a penis.

  • We didn't have sex for 7 months due to high risk pregnancy.  It sucks, but I think you guys can make it another 4 weeks.  I had a c/s and the first 2 times we had sex after our 6 wk wait it has been super uncomfortable for me...let yourself heal.

Hun you can make it. DH and I were DTD up until 2 days before DD was born and I had a few stitches from tearing. My 6 wk appt in on wednesday and I am soooo anxious to get the go ahead but I am still having some twinges. Don't go there til you get the go ahead. Having worked at an OB office I've seen what can happen when you don't wait and let yourself heal and it just puts the recovery back even farther. 6 weeks is better than 2-3 months cus you jacked up your stiches ya know. Good luck believe me if I can do it anyone can ha ha

Thanks! I am trying very hard...but my DH is incredibly hard to resist, especially when he is being such a good Daddy to our son! And it's so not fair that my hormones are all over the place making me crave something my body isn't ready for!! :/
