While I agree it can sound pretty it also is easily lead to Anal-ly and Anal jokes

Yeah, I'd recommend going old school and do Annabelle Lee instead.

The middle name will be Marie as my friends name was Annemarie. I never thought about jokes coming up, that is a good point. I did have LillyAnn Marie on my list, SO is not too sure about it.

I highly recommend Anika - pronounced Ahn-icka. (my daughter's name). My name is Anne and Anika is the diminutive form. I think it's beautiful and nice tribute while still being different enough that people don't automatically assume the connection.

I'm definitely going to run it by my SO he might prefer that more since u can't link it right to the name, as my friend who passed was his sister and he is kinda not sire about the daily reminder but at the same time he did name his sister so he is a fan of the name so he has agreed to have her name in the name.

I think you'd be better off with Lillian Marie for ease of spelling and it's still honoring your friend with Marie but more subtle which your husband might like.  More direct Ann names that I like are

    Anna Marie
    Annabelle Marie
    Andrea Marie

Leanne (lots of different spellings for this. My mom spells hers Liane)

Lillian (love your idea but I'd spell it this way)
    Liana

Sorry for your loss. What a nice tribute.

Edit: just thought of Rhiannon as well

Alana is pretty. At this moment my SO is being stubborn and hard headed and is not liking any name I say with or without Ann in it.

Sorry about your friend. It's nice that you want to honor her.

Diann (I'm fond of it because it's my name.)  ;)
    Dianna
    Andrea
    Cianna
    Antonia
    Leighann
    I also know a Charis-Ann
Ann is also a nice stand alone name, especially for a middle name.

    Agree with this.
I have a FB friend from high school who named her daughter Lillyann and would get SO ANGRY when people pronounced the name lilly-anne, because she wanted it pronounced like "Lillian".
    Mashed names can be confusing.
