Low lying placenta?

edited December 2016 in May 2017 Moms
First off, the anatomy scan went great. Happy and healthy!! She did mention my placenta is lying low. I never had this with my boys, or at least they never mentioned it. She didn't seem too concerned and said it usually moves up and we will rescan in 4 weeks to check position. Anyone else have this currently or in the past?

  • I had it with older daughter- it moved up, and was no issue. I think worst case if it remains low would be a need for c-section.

  • Also- glad baby looks healthy!!
  • Had this last time. It was noted as low lying but not previa. I ended up having growth scans later anyway because I measured crazy big and it ended up moving and was a non issue.

  • There's another thread about this that you might want to look up for additional comments. I had it with my daughter, it was partial and it moved up. I did have to have a follow up u/s on it though to make sure a c-section wouldn't be necessary.

  • Mine is low and that could be one of the reasons I've been spotting. I was told it should move up as baby grows. I'm hoping it has since I finally stopped spotting. I want to be off pelvic rest.

    Were you given any restrictions?
  • @kaley04   No restrictions so far.

  • Yep! I had this with my son. It moved up and was no biggie. Just something to monitor. And congrats on the good scan! Always a big weight off the shoulders!
