  • Does anyone suffer from sciatic pain? It's been really bad for me last few days. Normally, I just feel slight pain in my lower back on the right side. The last few days, the pain has traveled down my leg and I can barely move my right leg. My OB said it'll go away eventually and to try a heating pad and ice pack. So far they aren't helping. I'll bring it up to him again this week, but wondering if anyone has any other suggestions for relief.

  • Any tips on dealing with restless legs when trying to sleep? It's been a bad side effect from the diclegis I'm on. So my choices are: 1) really bad nausea (no diclegis) but get some sleep OR 2) moderate nausea (with diclegis) but very little sleep. I'm getting so worn down, and my OB has not been very helpful with other options.

  • @BlueEyedDreamer I have found that really stretching my legs and calves before bed helps. Do a few squats, stretch your calves against the wall, and then massage your legs from ankle up.
@Tulips29 Sciatica is the worst!! There are some really good yoga stretches for sciatic pain, try looking those up. Otherwise, I would suggest chiropractic or acupuncture. hope it gets better!

  • @tulips29 I find my underwear started causing a lot of my sciatica pain. After going up a size I found some relief but now the pain is coming back.
  • Anyone snoring now because of all the weight gain with the pregnancy. Dh tells me now I snore every night which I never did before. And I always wake up with a dry throat
  • @ultratomato I haven't started snoring, but I definitely have become a mouth breather cuz my sinuses are all wonky. I sleep partially sitting up and run a humidifer.

  • @ultratomato my husband tells me I started snoring too, but I don't know if it's from weight gain or from my nose getting stuffy during the night. I constantly wake up with a stuffy nose and dry throat (although drinking water throughout the night when I wake up helps with the dry throat). It gets worse when I sleep on my side so I try to mainly sleep in a half-sitting position.

  • Hey ladies, I've posted this before but I wanted to post again. I got a great recipe for a natural face mask that helps reduce redness and clear your skin up a bit:
    1/4 C plain yogurt
    1 Tbsp aloe vera
    Juice of 1/4 lemon
    3-5 drops tea tree oil

That recipe makes enough for several applications. Happy pampering!!

  • Hi ladies! I'm currently 22 weeks+2 days and am feeling pretty severe shortness of breath. Just started happening a few days ago, but today has been the worst. Usually gets worse after walking around. Have an overall tightness in my abdomen and am pretty uncomfortable. Can't imagine the baby getting any bigger at this point, but I know he/she has A LOT to grow. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Forget walking and talking at the same time. I felt like I just ran a marathon. Now putting on pants or getting comfortable in bed get me winded, haha.

Random question: I was calling one of my RE's recommended ob/gyn's today and the one can't get me in til almost the end of January. I would be 13 weeks which seemed abnormal and not really safe.I mentioned that my RE wanted me seen by the ob/gyn at 10weeks (I'm 7 weeks now) and they didn't seemed concerned or willing to work with me. I scheduled the appointment just in case but I found this kind of odd and very off putting. I already have this bad "gut feeling" about waiting that long. I have a decent size clot/hemorrhage in my uterus that I would image should. E monitored. It seems like an awfully long time to wait. After you graduated from your RE, when were you first scheduled with the ob/gyn? She gave me another dr so I'm planning on calling them tomorrow.
  • @ARB425 - I'll be seeing my midwife in my 9th week, but they said 10th week was normal for just the first meeting. I actually called as soon as I found out I was pregnant because it's true, they book up so fast. But the first place I called seemed the same as what you are describing and it just didn't feel right. I did book with them but once I found the other I cancelled.

@ARB425 I was discharged from my RE around week 10 and made an appointment with the OB for week 12 as I was instructed. But if you're being discharged earlier I would want to see the OB earlier too if I were you. Especially if you need to be closely monitored. Did you tell them about the clot so maybe they can squeeze you in earlier? If you have a bad feeling alreasy, it might be best looking for another doctor though.

@JWatt5 I thought about scheduling earlier but I figured it would be easier. I live in an area with several large hospitals  systems(Cleveland clinic,UH, metro) but we wanted to stay with the much smaller associated community hospitals due to ease of driving. Plus Cleveland Clinic has almost a 60% c-section rate(Ah!!!!!). If I have to I will schedule with one of the larger main hospitals and trek downtown but it's just not something I'm crazy about!  I'm hoping this other office tomorrow has some openings a little sooner!

@tulips29 I mentioned it but she said "well you can call every few days to see if had any cancellations" . My RE basically told me I'm discharged at this point unless I have any issues bewtween now and seeing the ob/gyn. I'm still on progesterone til 10weeks.

@ARB425 I graduated from my RE around week 9. The week prior I called to schedule my appointment with the OB since they fill up fast (or so I heard). The first place wouldn't even give me an appointment until they received all my RE records, and even then the dr wanted to review them before they'd give me an appointment. I moved on and the second place I called had an opening around week 10.

Maybe keep the appt at Wk 13 and see if you can get somewhere else sooner. I totally understand about wanting to stay in a certain location. After your initial appt you can always switch. Bummer that they can't make an opening for you. Sometimes I shake my head at medical clinics. I wonder if the dr knew about your particular issues if they'd agree to see you sooner. I hate that the schedulers are the gatekeepers.
  • @janejane  I'm going to try another drs office she recommended today. Hopefully I'll have better luck! I plan on keeping that appointment until I figure something out in the meantime. I work in a clinic as a nurse so it's kind of interesting to see how other clinics run. If a patient needs to be seen sooner than what is available in our system then it gets triaged through a nurse and they make the determination if the patient can be seen sooner than our system technically allows.

It doesn't help that I've had some terrible experiences with ob/gyns so I'm extremely picky about who I see and end up doing lots of research because even calling!
  • Oh the hormones... feeling super emo this morning. I'm going to make myself work out cuz I know it will help,  but I just have the stares and don't want to do anything.

EVERYONE just has to comment on my appearance. It's making me feel very self-conscious. I love it normally, but today I just want to be treated like a normal person.

  • I feel like I have been so hormonal the last few days. In Michigan we have been getting pounded with snow, so I have been super careful not only for myself but I have been so protective over DH also. I got mad at him yesterday for not letting me know that he was leaving work later than he said, so I freaked out thinking something was wrong with him. We are getting a lot of snow today and I am panicked. I have never been this way but for some reason this week I have been so worried about him. He even pointed it out yesterday and my snappy response was "well I don't want to raise two babies on my own". Has anyone else had this crazy wave go over them? I feel like a crazy over protective wife haha.

  • @kelrauh Yup, this is me! DH and I both have iPhones, so we can see each other on Find Friends. He usually has his location services turned off so I can't actually see where he is. A few weeks into this pregnancy he was out at work late and I just really started to worry (for no reason of course, other than pregnancy hormones), so I texted him asking if he could turn it on because I was worried, and within about 10 minutes he had turned it on, and has left it on ever since. It really does help ease my silliness, and he knows so he's willing to take the extra hit to his battery for my peace of mind.

  • Hello everybody, here is this weeks update!

So baby is measuring gd head wise, arms and legs are like a week behind BUT theres always a variation so it could b fine. Heartbeat was 145, he did well getting photos, better than they thought they would get! i lost most of the fluid that I had last week, there was like 1.something cm left behind the legs and hes about 11oz right now which is right on target

On a side note: now we also have to see a pediatric cardiologist they said the chambers of the heart appear to be straight vs curved so they want that checked + all of a sudden there looks like there is thickening of the back of the neck, which could be an indicator of downs! So well see I had Natera done and its negative so im not sure I wanna push more with that, + my only option would be a placenta biopsy and that scares me because what if it ruptures!! Ugh so much to think about but well keep trucking as long as we can

  • Thanks @wifeinraleigh28 I just feel like its another day, another appointment. This baby is a toughie thats a fact! Its not easy but giving up is also not an option at this point!  Even the MFM dr was shocked she got such good u/s images so hes even shocking the dr's! I will go to 5 million appointments if it helps clarify things!

They are starting to pile things on because of being close to viability so I understand but at the start of this I wasted a lot of energy being scared and worrying which isnt healthy for him! Hes being strong so we have to be as well!

I dont know what the future holds for my baby, but I know for damn sure that I am giving him everything ive got which is all I can do!

Btw, im not sure if Ive ever mentioned the exact diagnosis or condition that started all of this! Its called Pprom in case anyone was curious

  • I'm had I'm not the only one riding the dragon this week!
@babylonghorn16 I totally understand what you mean. Sometimes I like the silly comments,  and then other times it's like "haha, next person who jokes about my waddle is getting punched in the throat."
