I think the "expectant mother" parking spots are ridiculous.
I refuse to park in them even when I was massive and waddling at 9 months because I don't think they should be a thing. If your mobility is that severely limited then consider getting a temp handicap permit.

I have nothing against expectant mother spots (though I don't think you should use them if you have zero mobility issues) but I fully agree that women shouldn't be shy about applying for temporary handicapped tags if they might be needed! I got one for my second pregnancy and it was the BEST decision. I'm hoping I'll be stronger this time around but in all likelihood I'll be applying again this pregnancy to avoid long walks from the remote parking lot at work.
I might have said this one before, but I am not a fan of big houses. I mean, I am fine if YOU have one and I love to go to your party in a large house that can easily accommodate it, but you literally couldn't pay me to live in a big house. Our house is ~1600 sq ft and we plan stay put when baby #3 comes. Sure, I'd love one more bedroom and maybe 2000 total sq ft. But if I could snap my fingers and suddenly live in a 3000+ sq ft house (or even 2500 sq ft), I would NOT do it. You lose your stuff and your people in a house that big and it's so much more work to keep up with.
For reference, I grew up in a family of 5 living in a large house. But it was a lot of work for my mom to deal with and it was too conducive to accumulating stuff. Totally not what I want for myself and my family.
@WombThereItIs Do they have those parking spots at places besides Babies 'R Us? @kat81 I definitely got a special parking pass for the last month at work last time. I have to park across the street and a couple buildings down. Also last time my building was under construction and we were the only people on the 3rd floor and the elevators were not always usable. I had to conserve my energy to make it up the 3 flights of stairs.
Mine OU is that I cannot stand the song "Mary Did You Know". It instantly puts me in a bad mood, since childhood. Not sure what it is about that particular song.
@WombThereItIs YES. The "expectant Mom spots" all over post are so annoying! I won't lie, if I'm going to the PX when parking is awful (all the time) I slightly consider taking one of those spots...

@kat81 I semi agree with this. I grew up a in a large house and it was just too much space. My mom lives there by herself now and it is so hard for her to keep up. And I totally agree that stuff accumulates like crazy when you have the space. However, with one kid and another on the way, I do think it is essential (for me at least) to have a good amount of storage space (unfinished basement is fine) as well as bonus room/playroom for kid crap. My son doesn't have that much stuff, but it's enough that it would drive me crazy if I had to look at it in the living room all the time which is what we had to do in our old house. We moved from a 1300 square foot house to a 2400 square foot house (which includes an unfinished basement) and I think it's a good amount of space. I would not want anything bigger at this point.
Maybe more of an FFFC but I like having alllll house. We are in about 2700 sqft just the three of us and I am dreading downsizing when we move to a more expensive market after we are a family of 4. I also don't clean the house so maybe that's it.
+1 to a million pregnant spots on post. And it's not that I hate all special parking. I don't bat an eye at the general officer parking or gold star parking, I just really don't get the pregnancy ones. If anything you would "need" princess parking more with a bunch of kids in tow, not a fetus. A parking lot is a long walk with someone that wants to dart out and run away.
I don't get going crazy to make sure your kid gets the popular toy for Christmas. Granted my son is 3 and not at the age where he has to have anything, but I don't see myself ever standing on line at Toys R Us at midnight on Thanksgiving to make sure he has whatever toy is in demand. And I think the apology notes from Santa regarding the Hatchimal is just feeding into this nonsense.

I think my UO goes hand in hand with the house topic. I actually like keeping things clean, and it drives me crazy when things are out of order. I get some kind of sick pleasure out of making the kitchen sparkle, or reorganizing the pantry (which is definitely on my list for this weekend). I think that because of that, I don't mind that we have a bigger house. It lets us keep things a little separate - all of DS's toys are upstairs and we go up there every night to play.
I might feel differently if I spent all day at home, though, and had to trek up the stairs a million times a day.
My UO is that I prefer a fake Christmas tree. We splurged and got a "real touch" one. I don't particularly love the smell of real ones. Plus I hate all the pine needles falling everywhere for kids or pets to eat.

I hit 3rd tri during the summer in AZ in my last pregnancy. The expectant mother parking at BRU was the only thing that kept me sane and limited the amount of boob sweat I experienced in my waddle to the door. My work also has expectant mother parking. I probably wont use it as I can almost always get a decent spot myself... and it's not July.
I need enough house space for everyone to have a bedroom and I require my kid(s) to have a separate play room. The play room can be part of a larger family room but can not be part of the regular living room. We also don't have basements here, which blows.
My UO: I don't really like traditional xmas music. I don't hate it and some years I like it more than others. But I only need it from Thanksgiving to Xmas and only as background music at a holiday themed event or while shopping.
I just remembered my other UO. I think it's so weird that we have people who regularly AW on the announcement, sex, HDBD, and weekly ticker change posts but don't join in anything fun. There are several folks hanging out here who only share their personal info and don't take part in any of the other threads. I'm less likely to share personal info for the reasons discussed before and often skip my weekly ticker change because I'm too lazy to type out a bunch of stuff about myself for someone else to just skim over, so it just seems backwards to me.
@WombThereItIs Exactly. My husband purposely drives to the back of the parking lot because "everyone needs a little more walking and fresh air" lol.
@nda_roxybabe and @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot I would totally take advantage of the pregnancy spots in Arizona if they were also situated right under a large shade tree! Ha. It's all about the shade spots in Arizona!

@h&pmomma Right? The perfect Target spot is under a tree and next to a cart corral. It doesn't even matter if it's at the farthest point from the store.
I totally agree re:expectant mother spots. The only time I actively seek a close parking spot is when I have my son with me and don't have a baby carrier. Yeah, he's only 12 months, but that kid is dense and my arms are apparently very weak. It's much harder to carry him now that it was when he was in the womb.

@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot YES. It cracks me up that every spot under a tree is automatically taken before the ones near the door! Now that we are living in Washington (land of the never ending rain), the perfect spot is closest to the door. I have to lug my two kids across the parking lot and then get a cart inside because everything outside is wet. I miss sun!

I don't have a good UO today, but I agree with many above! I hate big houses, I LOVE organizing and despise clutter!
The only UO I can think of is that I hate most girl names. I think so many of them sound made up or like mashup names. I seem to be fixated on names a lot lately, but my husband has 5 sisters that keep suggesting names for baby girl and they are all horrendous. Most recent suggestion: Metta. Other suggestions included: Jonica, Rajia. And just to illustrate how ridiculous those suggestions are based on my naming style, DS's name is Sullivan. And we are all painfully white and American, so it's not like these names even have family cultural relevance.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot yes! What is with people who only post the personal stuff? I think it is espcially weird how many pregnancy announcements are up and sex announcements for people who have never commented again.
My small house never bothered me when I worked, but when I became a SAHM it was the bane of my existance. Clutter makes me anxious and it was so hard to keep it clutter free with all of DS' stuff. We upgraded last year and I've been so much happier.
My UO: I think it's silly to feed your 3 year old an all Paleo diet. I don't care if it's what you mostly eat at home, but when the kid is at a birthday party and you pull out grapes for him to eat while everyone else gets cake, you're being ridiculous. (Obviously, barring any allergies)
@MoshiMoshi7 totally agree. We are very careful about what DS eats and really work to feed him real, healthy, non-processed foods. But when he's with other people in situations where they're getting treats, there's no way we're going to limit that. A little birthday cake or ice cream or cookies every now and then isn't going to hurt anyone.

Well that's stuck in my head now...except only two lines because I don't remember the rest of the words.
@kat81 I semi agree with this. I grew up a in a large house and it was just too much space. My mom lives there by herself now and it is so hard for her to keep up. I feel like my post was disingenuous because our house has a very efficient use of space. We have a crawl space attic (pull-down stairs) that actually provides a really good amount of storage space. We also have an unfinished basement we use for storage, with a tiny finished room that we think could be a teenager bedroom one day (i.e. if/when the kids each want their own room--for a while they will definitely have to share!) We also have a playroom separate from our living room, dining room, and kitchen. This is HUGE for us. (Huge for us, but it's a small space, just as our living room is small, too.) So, I guess I'm saying I like a lot of rooms for the same reasons as you, but I don't feel as though we need much SPACE. Sure, I'd love a bigger kitchen, but I'm glad we don't have so much house to maintain.
In regards to the house discussions, I do like somewhat bigger houses. Ours is biggish (not huge), but it's not a traditionally built house. There's 3 stories above ground, a cupola above the 3rd story, and an unfinished basement, but the house is only about 2300 sq ft. It's all vertical. We have a very open ground floor with an entry, kitchen, and living space, 3 bedrooms on the second floor (one is ours, one will be they nursery, and one is planned for a second kid), then a guest bedroom and office/whatever space on the third floor. We bought this house as our forever home, wanting the extra space to grow into. My friend told me she'd hate having this much space because of the cleaning. Granted, it does suck that it takes 2 hours to vacuum all the floor space. However, I really love how open our house is, and I hate clutter so we don't keep extra stuff around. It may be a lot to manage later in life, but I'm hoping the extra flight of stairs keeps me spry when I'm old.

You don't hate most girl names, you just hate the ones your SILs suggest! There are so many traditional ones out there that would probably fit you just fine. My problem with so many girl names is that they seem a bit TOO girly or cutesy. But at the same time I usually don't like the girl names that were originally men's names and are somewhat gender-neutral, like Taylor.
I think that my UO about names is that I like names that were popular in our generation or maybe the ones between ours and our parents. And that is apparently not how naming trends go. We're supposed to like names that were popular for our great-grandparents' generation, because these have been dead for just long enough they come back in style. But to me those still sound old-fashioned (example: Vivian). Personally, I have no problem with a simple name like "Jennifer" even though that's totally an 80s name and I'm supposed to hate it!
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot yes! What is with people who only post the personal stuff? I think it is espcially weird how many pregnancy announcements are up and sex announcements for people who have never commented again.
That and the original poster for "birth announcements" hasn't really participated since then.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot - ack! I feel like I drift into this territory. I swear I'm not a complete weirdo, everyone, I just don't always get on here depending on how busy I am at work!
Maybe more of an FFFC but I like having alllll house. We are in about 2700 sqft just the three of us and I am dreading downsizing when we move to a more expensive market after we are a family of 4. I also don't clean the house so maybe that's it.

I 100% agree that the pregnancy parking spots should be for pregnancy AND solo parents of young children. Honestly I have used a pregnancy spot before when I'm struggling with a new baby and another kid. Because I feel as though that follows the spirit of the sign.
I don't think that liking a bigger house is a FFFC. It's not morally praiseworthy to prefer a small house. Funny enough we have cleaners so I still don't even have to clean my small house except intermittently and my husband does the majority of the housework anyway. But clearly I'm not domestic at ALL (hence my husband and the cleaners) so that is why I don't like a bigger house! Someone else posted about being a SAHM vs. working mom and that is probably part of it for me. I work, so my home is not my only space. So that makes it easier for me to prefer a small home.
I love big houses! I don't think I'd want to go bigger than 5,000 sq ft though. How big do you think the Home Alone house is? Or the Baby Boom house? Since we've been together we've gone from 550, 850, 1100 sq ft to our now 2200. I was worried it'd be harder to clean, but it's really not. The same spaces get used and dirtied the most, so it evens out.
I'll weigh in on the house discussion- for me I don't need a big house, I need a big yard!! I don't understand all the houses in my town that are HUGE, and have like a square inch of yard. Weather permitting, I spend at least half of every day outside!
@MoshiMoshi7@RainyDays86 I don't like when parents force their children to eat a limiting diet (paleo, vegan, etc) I feel that doing that is an extremely personal decision and not something that should be forced on people. I also don't like people who ONLY eat organic and non-processed food. I get people want to try to eat the healthiest food possible, but don't let your children not indulge at times because it is not organic.
About large houses, I dream to be in a larger house. Although right now I dread cleaning and I told my husband yesterday that the house would remain dirty until Christmas because I'm overwhelmed with Christmas orders, and his response was "IDGAF." One day I will have a large house and I will bask in it.
