Belly butters??

Anyone with experience with belly butters for stretch mark prevention? From what I've read it's good to start early but there are soooo many different brands and a lot with good reviews. I know a lot of stretch mark prevention is hydration and genetics, and if I end up mommy marks I'm okay with it... But if anyone has miracle creams, please share!

Re: Belly butters??

  • This girl I knew that had crazy stretch marks across her shoulders got pregnant and used Mustela. She ended up with no preggo stretchies. Might be a good choice since obvi she was already prone.

I bought Honest belly balm but honestly (pardon the pun) I became too tired to keep up with it. Hoping to feel better in a couple weeks and get out of slothville

  • I make my own! I put coconut oil on first, let it soak up, and then use my super luxurious shea/lavender/calendula/chamomile/essential oil scented prana balm. I also make sure to stay hydrated, eat lots of healthy fats and oils!
  • I used Burt's Bees Mama Bee belly butter my last pregnancy and didn't get a single stretch mark. I used it religiously twice a day from first tri on. Every woman in my family has stretch marks from
having babies so either I just got lucky or my diligence paid off. Hoping I get that lucky again this time!
  • I also made my own. I combined beeswax, cocoa butter and coconut oil. It smelled fantastic, and i wish I had used it on my boobs, since that is where all of my stretch marks are.

  • I used belly butter with my last pregnancy and didn't get any stretch marks. Not sure if it was the cream, or genetics, but I will probably use it again, because it felt so good!

  • I've previously read that there's a genetic component to stretch marks. With DD I only used belly butter (and usually it was only body lotion) when my growing bump was feeling itchy. I didn't get stretch marks and definitely didn't use it religiously.

This.  stretch marks are completely genetic...nothing you can really do to prevent.  I also just used normal body butter when I was itchy and that was about it.  I lucked out - no stretch marks on my belly at all.  I have had them in my cleavage ever since I was a teenager (I have natural DDs), but that didn't translate to belly marks.
  • I'm with @LMMama, Burt's Bees all the way. And yes, stretch marks are genetic, but it helps to lotion your belly every day as it's growing to help with the elasticity of your skin.
  • I just used Palmer's Cocoa Butter. I think it actually did help because I didn't think to use it on my butt and that's the only place that I got stretch marks.
