*TW* My mind is a crazy clusterf*ck

edited November 2016 in July 2017 Moms
I don't really know where else to post this so I hope an individual thread is okay....

Also, sorry if this becomes TMI...

I called my doctor's office in tears this morning because there was very red blood on the toilet paper when I wiped after peeing this morning. I wiped twice and blood both times. There was no cramping though.

The nurse asked me to give her a run down of the past couple days which is:
     - Monday = I had 1 bad cramp that felt like it lasted for a minute or 2 but I am sure it really wasn't that long. It didn't happen again so I shrugged it off and assumed it had something to do with the fact I polished off an entire Double Quarter Pounder meal from McDonalds.
     - Tuesday = I had some light brown spotting (that's what I am calling it) mixed in with my discharge. No cramping. I put a pad on and there was 1/2 a dime's worth in the pad at the end of day but otherwise I only noticed it when I wiped after peeing. I did talk to a nurse who said she wouldn't worry about it until the brown stuff was saturating a pad or turned bright red, etc. I spoke with the nurse who told me she would talk to the doctor when the doctor came in and see what the doctor wanted to do.

I went to work because it was too late to call in. Fast forward to an hour later. I get a call from the doctor's office and the nurse told me the doctor wanted to do some blood work (hcg test). They wanted me to come in today and then again in 48 hours to get blood drawn again so they can compare the 2 levels / results. I was sent home from work because I am very emotional (understandable) and went straight for the blood test. They said it would be about 24 hours before we get the results of the blood test I took today.

When I peed before my blood test (about 1 pm) I noticed there was no more red blood. There was a little bit of blood in my pad but not a lot and it was the light brown color again. Same with when I wiped - light brown color. I did tell the receptionist to update the file and let the nurse / doctor know about the change in blood too.

I got home after having my blood taken and fell asleep for about 2 hours. I feel a little better after my nap but I am still nervous / scared. I am trying my best to stay calm because I know stressing is not going to help anything but I keep having both good and bad thoughts. I am keeping my fingers crossed I don't end up having a miscarriage. These next couple days are going to be hard. Sorry for the long post, I had to vent somewhere.

  • Praying for you!!! I hopenits all ok!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

T&ps!  Bleeding can be totally normal.

Eta: that doesn't make it any less nerve wrecking, I know!
  • Sending sticky baby thoughts your way.
  • I had some bleeding kind of like your describing with my first pregnant.   I'd had a little bit of off colored discharge and then saw bright red when I wiped and totally freaked.  It leaked a bit but within the hour had stopped.  I have a 1 year old son from that pregnancy.  A bit of bleeding during the first trimester is normal (although f****** terrifying!) It's great they sent you for blood work.  seeing those number rise will help give you a peice of mind.  When I did miscarry, the bleeding didn't stop and the cramps hit hard.  I know your scared but right now it's out of your hands.  Put your feet up, relax.  Nap.  Stay hydrated and just wait for those numbers.  FX for you.  creepy Internet hugs...

  • @SaphireSweetie88. . . These first weeks are so hard, aren't they?? I had an SCH while pregnant with my daughter. Mine never bled but it was pretty big so I was considered high risk until it reabsorbed third trimester. I did a ton of reading online and saw just how common they are. Some like me with no bleeding, but just as many with red/brown spotting. I can't remember-do you have an u/s coming up?
  • @SaphireSweetie88, I encourage you to read my response to CAdreamin13's post. The gist is that I bled (with flow, not to be TMI) on and off from week 4 to week 8 of my last pregnancy with my son. Combine that with round ligament pain, which I seem to feel pretty badly throughout pregnancy but didn't recognize at the time, made me sure I was losing my baby. Come last September, healthy 8 lb 7 oz baby was born and is currently asleep upstairs. Bleeding is scary! But it can mean SO many things, and not all of them are bad. Cysts, minor hormonal imbalances, even cells of the cervix being caught on the outside of the uterus when it closes and then becomes highly vascularised can cause spotting or bleeding. Have faith.
