Stupid Question Sunday

The "read first" post says that this is one for today. This is a place to post the questions you could just google, but don't feel like it, or any others you've been pondering.

*Please don't post things that no one will know the answer to like, "Does heartburn really mean I'm having a girl?"

Re: Stupid Question Sunday

  • I've Google this but never got a definite answer.  Is it safe for pregnant women to drive tractors or are the vibrations dangerous  (riding lawn mowers would work for this question, too).  DH keeps trying to argue with me on this and damn Google hasn't revealed a definite answer to back me up.  I figured my grandma must have driven a tractor at some point in each of her pregnancies and my dad and uncles all turned out great.  Baby is nicely padded in there.  He just doesn't believe you can vibrate that hard and not scramble the babys brain.

This also isn't related to my pregnancy.  we don't have a reason to have a tractor.  It stems from some random conversation we had years ago and is more for curiosity.

  • @JCWhitey I can't imagine that it would have any impact on baby. I ride in a tractor for short periods of time every month when visiting family and I've done that pregnant twice and both boys just came out loving tractors haha. Unless you're really being tossed around roughly I'm sure it's fine... honestly what about sex? Isn't that more motion filled than a tractor ride? At least, it should be.  :p

  • I have no opinions of this tractor talk since I don't think I've ever ridden one, but I imagine they're slow and not that bumpy. Any bachelor/bachelorette fans may know this solely from the infamous bikini tractor race.

  • If only I had a tractor!

  • LOL! Yea, I would say tractors are fine. My husband is insistent that my laptop should not be on my stomach ever. I'm like, meh.

  • I'm living for these tractor pics. LOL.

I know it's not Sunday anymore, but I have an extremely stupid question. I'll preface it by saying I have googled the answer and searched TB already, and for some reason I still can't make it work. Blame it on blondeness, preggo brain, or just plain stupidity!! How in the EFF do you post GIF's on here? I swear, I found the thread on TB about it, and when I try to make it work, after I hit post all I see is the dang code that I copied. I usually use giphy when I want a GIF. Is that where I'm going wrong? Is there a better site that works with TB? Can someone please help this poor stupid soul?

I don't know if this is stupid, exactly, but curious if anyone else gets cramps after the first few weeks? I never did with my first, but did with my second. Like major period cramps my whole pregnancy. I always told my doctor and they never knew what it was or could explain it. One time it was so bad I got an u/s and they never saw anything out of the ordinary. Seems like I'm getting them again this go round, not as painful but still noticeable, and really uncomfortable. I googled this extensively last time but just curious if anyone else gets these? And I don't think it's round ligament pains, they feel exactly like menstrual cramps.

ETA: Oh yeah, the doctors always chalked it up to dehydration. But I don't think it's that because I definitely didn't drink more water my first pregnancy and I don't know if drinking water makes it go away.

  • @tenfour I had much more noticeable cramping with this baby (#3) than I remember before. I kind of figured it was similar to after delivery cramping with the uterus contracting, but this time it's stretching/expanding. The after delivery cramps for each baby are much worse than delivieries before!
My doctor said cramping was normal as long as there was no bleeding with it.

  • @tenfour lots of cramping over here too. It doesn't really worry me since I have read it is normal, and like @h&pmomma said, it seems like it is caused by the uterus growing/expanding.
  • @tenfour I had a day a few weeks ago that felt like I had period cramping all day long. I freaked out, went to the dr and everything was fine. I upped my water intake (although you said you were already up there).  They told me not to worry because it was likely my uterus just growing and stretching.
I would assume if the cramps aren't debilitating and you aren't bleeding, that you are likely fine.
  • Ugh I've had some of the cramps you mentioned. They seem most bothersome after laying down for awhile. I'm not great about my water intake to begin with so I pretty much fill up a cup when this happen, "just in case".

  • Omg you guys! This makes me feel so much better!
So glad I'm not the only one. Sometimes the pain goes to my back. Do any of you do anything or take anything to try to relieve it?

  • @tenfour, I asked my doctor about this yesterday. He said that it's much more likely to happen with STMs because the uterus expands faster.

Ok..  @ChristinaWild Sorry I forgot last night! I got distracted with the election results!
I'm making these specific to giphy.com because that's what I use the most!

    1. Find a GIF that you want to use. Click on it on the search page, so that it's on its own page.
    2. Under the GIF, there are two "tabs:" Share and Advanced.
    3. Click on "Advanced"
    4. The 3rd option is called "Gif download" and it looks like a web address ending in ".gif"
    5. Don't click download - just highlight and copy it.
    6. Come back to TB. Open your post.
    7. In the icons at the top, one looks like a black piece of paper with a corner turned down. Click on it.
    8. Where it says "image URL," paste that address that ends in .gif
    9.
