I have 4 weeks too (well just over) and it makes me nervous to still have that much time because of the unknown of what could happen with my numbers.  I'm so scared they're going to start creeping up over the coming weeks.

  • @CurlyCupcake21 remember there's a chance your numbers will start going down, too! Or stay exactly the same. My MW and the nutritionist said that in their experience, 32-36 weeks is when things start to get weird, if they are going to change. So far, I've had pretty much no change in my numbers, aside from one high fasting reading a week ago (96 instead of 95, when usually I'm in the 80s). My post-breakfast and post-lunch numbers haven't changed a whole lot - maybe a few points higher? But my post-dinner numbers have been averaging lower, despite having pretty carb-heavy dinners. Last night, my dinner was about 70g carbs (mostly veggies, but also three corn tortillas), and my one-hour number was 99.

@cinderin good point about slow days but fast weeks...  I'm just so over work at this point that the days DRAG.

  • My induction date is gonna be schedule this Thursday for Feb 6th. I can't wait to be done. The anxiety over food, blood sugars, and just the general worrying about making it to the end is overwhelming. Next Friday, is my last day of work and I absolutely cannot wait.

Itll go by quicker than we think ladies!

Well, induction was officially scheduled for 2/7 (40 weeks is 2/10).  I'm not loving this.  I admit I had a bit of a meltdown Friday after that appointment.

I was hoping to avoid it despite the GD.  Baby girl's been measuring in the 40's for percentile, my numbers have been in control without insulin, I was only boarderline GD to begin with, NSTs have been great, my BP is great but they still want it scheduled :-/  Just don't like the idea of forcing it to happen unless we have to.  But when they come at me with the fact that stillbirths have a slightly higher chance after 40 weeks with GD and 35 and older (which I'm basically boarderline that too since I only turned 35 in the middle of this pregnancy), it's hard to fight back.

I just hope she's and my body are ready on her/its own before then and we can avoid it all together.  They'll start ripening my cervix on the 3rd.  Maybe when they check me then things will be moving along enough?  I hope :-/

  • @madamerwin interesting, I didn't know your numbers could go down too!  The endocrinologist told me they can start to creep up and and then there is the need for insulin.  I think he was trying to prep me for the possibility that it could happen so he didn't even mention they could possibly go down.  Right now my numbers are good so I feel okay, I think it's just knowing that there's 4 more weeks for things to change that scares me!

  • @CurlyCupcake21 numbers definitely CAN creep up as pregnancy progresses; it's just that the diabetes nutritionist told me that that usually happens between 28-36 weeks, and then they usually level off because the placenta stops creating so many hormones. So who knows, I guess anything could happen!

  • *gross warning about blood*

So I was taking my blood sugar on Saturday and I pricked my finger, got ready to squeeze gently to get blood, and I don't know what happened but literally a fountain of blood shot out of my finger. It was the weirdest thing. Honestly, it was like something out of a doctor show where the blood squirts out. It was weird  :| It hasn't happened before or since so I don't know what I did different that time. Oops.

  • @cinderin I have noticed that for the past couple of days, my blood sugar levels have been slightly lower - fastings in the mid- to upper-70s instead of the 80s, and post-meal numbers down about 5-10 points from what they have been... I am planning to keep a close eye on them, since I know a big drop can point to problems with the placenta, but so far it hasn't been anything major. Nice to see my fasting numbers closer to "normal" though!

  • My medication keeps getting bumped up. They upped me half a pill last Thursday because I had high sugars. Then today I got a message from my diabetes doctor to go up another half a pill at dinner. So now I'm at a full pill before breakfast and 1 and 1/2 before dinner. I don't know why I got upped again because sugars have been in range but just barely.

im really annoyed with my OB. He's been saying all along the plan was to induce on Feb 6th. Earlier if high sugars or baby showed signs of distress. At yesterday's appointment, he said we'll wait and see how dilated I am at Thursday's appointment before making any definite decisions. I don't know if I should feel happy because maybe I have a few more days to go on my own or upset because I feel like now he's back pedaling when he's been concerned all along. It doesn't make any sense and DH is coming to the appointment now because he doesn't really feel comfortable with this either. Hoping that if we're not inducing, he can at least give me enough reassurance to ease my fears until that she decides to come or I'm induced.

  • @Aussie45 do they have any concerns about size? If that looks good than hopefully 40 weeks can be an option! Inductions fail more often when the Bishop Score is <6, maybe he's wanting to check and schedule the induction after that point and he's just annoyingly bad at explaining things?

Having a reason is one thing, but I would be super irritated if I knew the date and it got randomly moved around. I was irritated just because they wouldn't give me a damn date until the week of

Well he's talked since 34w about inducing on Feb 6th because he's concerned about me being on meds for GD. His concern has made me nervous for the past month and NOW he's all, oh well we'll see where you're at and make a game plan. Dude wtf? Are you worried or are you not? Cause I've now been worried for a month based off what he says and he seems very cavalier about this now all of the sudden. If he wants to wait, I'm fine with that. I've had an induction before and I'm not eager to do it again unless I have to, BUT I want to know why the change of heart and if I need to be concerned. Cause...I'm concerned lol.

  • @Aussie45 it sounds to me like baby is doing fine and ur dr doesn't want to rush your labor if you don't have to.  For sure ask, tho!
  • my OB monitors and lets you go to 39 or 40 weeks, even with GD meds. I wouldn't agree to 34 weeks just because of GD (JMO).

glad baby is looking good and will get to cook a little longer :-)

  • @cinderin Chinese food is on my list too. Spicy pie (pizza joint), Starbucks, Italian of some sort. I haven't had pasta since my diagnoses and I miss it like crazy.

I may or may not have packed a box of Girl Scout thin mints in my hospital bag.

  • @cinderin definitely bagels!  There's a great bagel place near us that I'm going to send DH to after we get home from the hospital so I can have bagels for days.

In other news I've been having a weird couple of days with my blood sugars.  The other day I had a low fasting of 65 (I'm usually 80-90) and this morning the same breakfast as yesterday gave me a 144 when yesterday I had a 105.  I feel like that's quite a jump in 24 hours.
