Bathtime

We've been doing baths in a plastic baby tub in our sink thus far, but Abby has started splashing like CRAZY and water is ending up everywhere. Where are you guys bathing your babies? If you're doing it in an actual bath tub--what kind of gear are you using to keep them upright?

We've always done it in the bathtub and used a newborn supporter thingie up until a few weeks ago. It had two sides; one allowed him to sit up straight and the other was super reclined. I was never much of a fan but knew my MiL would be hurt if we didn't use it. We now use an Angelcare bath support bather and absolutely love it. He is actually reclined a bit but there is enough support to keep him from slipping or moving too much. He loves to splash too, the bigger the better.

  • I've seen people use laundry baskets. The kind with the holes in it

  • I have a plastic baby tub that grows with him and it sits in a tub.  stage one is for before they can fully sit unsupported and it's reclined and then that seat comes out and it's just a mini tub.
  • In her baby tub that has a seat, next to the bathtub in my bathroom since I usually bath her and one of the boys at the same time. Well the boys bath themselves I just make sure they use soap, wash their bodies, and don't flood the bathroom.
  • Sam takes his bath in the tub. I have a two sides lounger that he goes in. It was very reclined when he was small. Now it sits him up a little more. I love it.

I use this lately. It keeps her reclined and there is a piece that comes out once she can sit up unsupported. I put it inside my bath tub so she can splash.
  • Stupid question.  How are you all getting baby from tub to wherever you put jammies on?  Right now I have to use two towels, on over shoulder and hooded around baby, and carry him from bathroom to table in his room.  I would love an easier way but the bathroom is so small.

We have a pretty small bathroom. Basically I bring his pajamas, diaper, diaper cream, and meds into the bathroom with us. We have super soft and thick mats so I lay a clean towel down on one and lay him on it for stripping him down. After the bath he is laid on it again and wrapped up. Once he is dry, I unwrap him and do the diaper stuff, meds, and dress him. I clean the mat regularly, not that he is directly on it but I'm paranoid.

Same here. Lol. But the bathroom we use is right next to his room, so I'm not going far.
  • I bathe LO in our laundry room sink and then carry a toweled baby into the kitchen to put her diaper on. When I think about it in advance, I'll bring her pajamas downstairs.

  • I wrap Sam up in his towel and take him back to the changing table in his room.
  • I do bath in my bathroom typically because my boys use our tub since it's a big one. I just have all her stuff laid out on my bed and I bring her towel in the bathroom so when she's done I pulled her out and wrap her up.
On another note Charlotte has discovered kicking in her bath and the amount of water she's getting all over the floor is amazing! I might have to move her into my tub but the. I can't bath her and one of my boys at the same time. It was pretty adorable how excited she became when she realized kicking the water is more fun and messier then splashing with your hands.
  • Since DH does the baths we are both home so when he is done I hold a towel and DH hands him to me and I wrap him up and walk to his bedroom.  It's not far and he gets a full body massage while still naked so it's easier to do that on the changing table.
  • I just wrap her on a towel and take her to her room to put clothes on. Or sometimes to my room. I never really thought about it much to be honest.
