My mom does this too. It's very irritating.

I lived with my aunt for a wile in my twenties (my mums baby sister closer to my age than my mums) & she has this 3 legged cat who she referred to as my sister every now and again. I told her how insulting this was to my actual sister and that it would not make me like the cat any better but she still persisted in doing it.
  • Late to the party but I hate being called Mama and IDK why but I hate reading things in Facebook groups where people are responding to things and calling random people Mama.
  • UO: parents whining about DST make no sense. Unless you intentionally stayed up an hour later on Saturday bc you were banking on that extra hour, your body got just as much sleep whether your clock says 7a or 6a when your baby woke you up.

Except when my kid went to bed at his normal time and now it's actually 5am instead of 6am, the imbalance goes forth the entire day for him and for a few days after.

It's not about banking on that extra hour of sleep, it's the extra hour that messes with sleep schedules.  And a cranky kid = cranky parent.
Even though I was lucky and my kid woke up at her normal 7am adjusted, so really slept an extra hour, the whole day just felt off for us.
    It was weird.

But he still got his normal X hours of sleep, right? And so did you? I can see it making naps and meals wonky for a day or two but everyone complains about what time the clock said when they got up. The clock said 5 but it FELT LIKE 6. For both of you. Am I missing something here? It just sucks to see 5:00?
  • I actually got an extra hour of sleep last night but I'm so sleepy as hell.

  • @MommaBean I'm shooting you with my laser eyes. My kid went to bed last night at 830 like normal and woke up at 5 this morning. Which is 1 hour and 45 minutes before his regular wake up time at 645. We all slept less.
  • +1 to being a crazy pet lady. We refer to both of our moms as our dog's grandmas (our moms do too), we talk to the dog about his baby brother, and when we are talking to the dog about each other (yes, having conversations with the dog), I refer to H as "papa" and H calls me "mama". The dog knows us by those names.

I'll admit to being a crazy pet person, but all the mom/dad/grandkitten/etc stuff is said in jest. I truly don't feel having a pet is comparable to having a human child, nor do I feel *most* people think that way so I'm more apt to give them the benefit of the doubt.

My UO: I absolutely love Christmas time and compile gifts and stocking stuffers pretty much year round. But one thing I will always despise are the commercials advertising "doorbusters" because that word is nails on chalkboard to me.
