Infertility

Introduction - TTC 4years

Hello everyone!
I am so thankful this forum exists! DH and I have been TTC since July 2012. DH is 29, I am 27. After TTC for that first year and continuously telling our doctor something was wrong, she finally agreed to do testing to see what was going on. My levels came back okay, DH's came back low. After getting things set up to talk to a fertility specialist, we found out we would be moving across the county.
After the craziness of the move, we found the only fertility specialist in town. They would not give us an appointment based on the referral from our old doctor, and would only accept one from an OB/GYN. We found one in town, who wanted to do his own testing before sending us to the specialist. We finally got the referral late in 2015, 3 years in to this journey.
To get started with the specialist, he wanted to make sure all my insides looked good, so we opted for some kind of procedure where he went in to look around. While in there, he found endometriosis as well as an uterine septum. So glad he found that! So after healing from that surgery, our first IUI cycle was in June 2016. BFN. Actually, not nothing, I was left with a big ol' cyst that didn't go away for 3 months. We had to sit out for July, August and September because of it. We were finally ready to try for this month, October, only to find out that the doctor who does the sperm stuff was going to be on vacation during my O day. Here's to hoping that everything looks good to do another round of IUI for November! Thanks for having me!

Re: Introduction - TTC 4years

  • Hi and welcome! Good luck on your IUI in November! I can't believe they delayed your cycle because someone was on vacation, they don't have more than one person who does that job, is it like a small office? All those delays must have been so frustrating, exciting that your back on track! I have my first frozen embryo transfer scheduled in November as well, maybe we will have the same two week wait. :)

  • Welcome! You have played the waiting game for so long! That makes me crazy for you! I agree - it's unfair that you have to wait due to someone's vacation. My RE clinic is open 365 days a year and they will do procedures on Christmas Day if that's when the timing is right!!! It sounds like you are in a small town without a lot of resources, but it could be worth looking around at other areas to see what's available!

Either way, I'm glad you are here and hope your stay is short!

  • @HopefulLily, I just found out today that I will for sure be doing my injections and stuff this month. Today is day 3, so IUI will probably be around the same time as you!! We will know for sure as the month goes on. Do you have to take injections of any kind to get ready for your FET?

  • Welcome @OGreat ...I can relate to the delays you've experienced... we've moved twice, one time from Canada to the US and most recently within the US. It's quite annoying and there are additional waits as a result which can be super frustrating. I'm sorry to hear about endo diagnosis (I too am suspected to have it), and your recent cyst. Hopefully all clears up and you're ready to rock and roll soon! Welcome to the board. These ladies are all super fantastic! <3

  • @OGreat Not only are we pretty close on cycle dates, we're on the same meds for IUI #2.  :) What dose are you taking of follistim and what days?
  • @rainbowwishes5 when do you find out if you can keep going with this month?

@oxinfree thanks for the welcome! This is the first month that feels productive in a long time! Are you going to find out if you have endo or not?

@persnickity I've taken 100 for the last 3 nights. I go in tomorrow morning to see how my follicles look. I have to go in every 3 days to see how much the follicles have grown. Is that what you have to do too?

  • @OGreat - If my upcoming FET doesn't work then plan is Lap ya... we did an endometrial biopsy and found endo cells but obviously need lap to properly diagnose etc.

  • @OGreat I'm taking 100 for 5 days, starting today. I only go in after 5 days of meds, do next Wednesday. I don't have a lot of follicle growth in general, so they don't feel the need to monitor me any earlier.
  • @ogreat it depends. It's dependent from one u/s & bloodwork to the next and I get it every couple of days. So far so good but they can cancel at any point and I have an anxiety disorder so it's killing me.
