JANUARY FET BUDDIES

Re: JANUARY FET BUDDIES

  • @lefemmeviolette you can take Tylenol, Benadryl, or use Vicks (put it on your feet at bed and put socks on!) I asked my nurse after transfer what was okay to take and she mentioned those but gave me a list of other safe cold stuff that I can look at if you want.

Hopefully you don't have to be anywhere tomorrow and can cozy up in bed/on the couch and watch the snow fall.

@Winnie81 How many days before your transfer was your blood work done? 6 days before my transfer, my estradiol was 341 but that was the day before I ovulated. My LH was 32. They haven't tested any progesterone levels during this FET cycle

  • @LeFemmeViolette I'm sorry you are still feeling like crap. Here is a screenshot that my clinic gave me for approved meds. Sorry if crummy resolution.
TTC #1: March 2011 (slightly before)
    Fur-children: 3 dogs + 2 cats (all rescued)
    dx: Endometriosis and Fibroids
2 Laps and 1 Abdominal Myomectomy
    6 rounds of clomid
    5 rounds of iui
Several HSG's sprinkled throughout the years to up my chances of a BFP
Several dilation of cervix because they suspect the scar tissue is hindering it from fully opening (partially adds to the severe cramps all month)
IVF #1 Gonal F, Menopur and Cetrotide
    ER 12/1/2016
    ER-Retrieved 22 eggs 10 fertilized
4/4 day 5 embryos were normal for PGS!!! 2 boys/2 girls
    FET 1/10/2017
    Gallbladder surgery 1/10/2017
FET estimated end of Feb, beginning of March

  • @singlegeneme it was 365 6 days before transfer, and then they told me to reduce my patches from 3 to 2, which explains the drop, I just hope it isn't too much of a drop.

Ladies- I need support- as I have mentioned in the past I "suffer from" severe anxiety disorder (so IF is an extra special joy for me). And as a part of that I ruminate and second guess myself on EVERYTHING. So I am doubting my decision to cancel PGS. I would have had the results by Monday likely and now I am sitting here preparing for a transfer in 2.5 weeks with 2 potentially abnormal embies. I am so worried that this is wasting my time and money? And I am desperately afraid of a CP or m/c Bc in the past it has been so heart wrenching. But I also know that finding out I had 2 abnormally would hurt- but obv less than a cp or m/c. What have I done?

Eta: my nurse asked me on the phone if I was prepared for the possibility of twins "and all that" and I said yes in the unlikely event I actually get pregnant and she got all testy with me. As she does all the time now. They hate me. I guess I'm intense but this is your job.... To deal with stressed/concerned IF people.

  • @mtpbadger I have never heard of vicks with your socks on at night but that sounds amazing! Going to do this tonight, maybe it will keep our dogs from sneaking up on the bed at night.  :D

@SingleGeneMe FX for you tomorrow!!! Cant wait to hear an update!

@LeFemmeViolette How are you feeling today? I'm definitely going to check out the suggested book on parenting after IF! I feel like I have the potential to be a "helicopter mom" because I worry so much throughout this process, so I will need to read all the books!  :p

@Worldtravler0522 Thanks, it actually was nice to just relax at home together. I watched Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen fan here <-) and ate mashed potatoes.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good read while resting after the transfer? I'm thinking something light. I could also crochet something and watch Lifetime...that sounds fun too!

  • @winnie81 it is pretty awesome! Just put a nice layer on the bottoms and throw on some old socks. You still get the smell/impact but don't get all greasy and gross!
  • The sickness continues. Pretty sure I pulled some muscles in my back from coughing so hard. This snow/ice is forcing me to rest and sleep, so I guess that's good. Though I'm going a little stir-crazy!

Fever is up to 99.5. DH and I are monitoring that closely since I did wind up with pneumonia a few years ago.

Any good recommendations for shows/movies to stream on Netflix or Amazon?

  • @LeFemmeViolette - have you seen or heard of "the man in the high castle" (i think that's the name...!) on amazon? it takes place in the 1960s in the USA, but the Nazi's and Japan won WWII. It took a couple episodes to get into, but I enjoyed it (I'm a history nerd though... )
  • @rainbowwishes5  Remember how distraught you thought you would feel if you had both embryos come back PGS-abnormal? We have to make so many hard choices going through IVF, and there isn't always a right or wrong answer. You are dealing with a crappy situation and your clinic wasn't trustworthy, so you empowered yourself by standing up to them and making the best decision you could. I did PGS testing, but only because I was already doing PGD testing for something else. I don't know if it was "worth it," and I still won't know until they transfer the embryo and I find out if it sticks. PGS testing is not 100% accurate. Money is such a big part of all the decisions in IVF and it sucks to put a price on something so heavy with emotion. Hang in there. This process doesn't go smoothly for anyone, and that's what we all have in common.

@Winnie81 Thank you! I'm so excited and nervous! I'm also questioning every decision I've made leading up to the transfer! Is it okay that I had wine last night? Is it ok that I had coffee this morning? Is it okay that I had sex today? Should I have gotten acupuncture? Should I have done more yoga? Did I sabotage my lining by not drinking pomegranate juice? Should I have not used any class C prescription medications leading up to the transfer - how long do they stay in my system? Ahhh! It can be maddening. So, I'm trying to remember that it's almost entirely out of my control and I need to relax. Easier said than done!

@LeFemmeViolette I hope you feel better soon.  I'm really into the show Terrace House right now. It's the Japanese version of The Real World, but much much tamer. It's pretty relaxing to binge watch.

@lefemmeviolette I've heard Narcos on Netflix is good and it's on my "to watch" list. I usually go for rewatching a series when I'm feeling icky so I don't care if I fall asleep in the middle then. Really hope you start feeling better soon!!

@rainbowwishes5 I agree with @singlegeneme, this whole process is full of second guesses. While the unknown is scary, a lot of this process is out of our control. Even having a PGS normal embryo doesn't guarantee a success. I at times wonder if I should have done testing but the "what ifs" will drive anyone crazy and you just have to trust and hope for the best. I also remind myself that if we were able to get pregnant naturally, we wouldn't have that knowledge of the embryo being normal/abnormal and I try and find peace in that.

@singlemegene my first FET I did everything (Pom juice, beer juice, yoga poses to increase blood flow, acupuncture, etc) and ended with a negative. My second I lived my life as normally as possible and and didn't do any of those things, I think drank up to a few days before transfer, if not the night before and ended up with a positive (subsequent CP most likely due to my lining). This transfer I took it easy on the booze over the holidays and stopped a week prior but I also needed to detox after Christmas and had a cold so I wasn't even in the mood. I totally get and am at times envious/in awe of people completely changing their diets and lifestyles and I might get there mentally at some point, but I try not to let IF completely take over my life. You got this!

  • @SingleGeneMe you are so right. Thank you!
@mtpbadger that's true! That's something to consider. Thank you as well.

  • @rainbowwishes5 I think no matter what you would have done you would have always wondered about the other option if that makes sense.  I had recurrent miscarriage testing done after my last loss and there were some things that came back that they recommended I have my embryos tested but after DH and I thought about it and talked about it we decided to forgo it and let go, let God.  Try as hard as you can to not second guess yourself, imagine how horrible it would be if you came back with two normal embryos but neither stuck?  Sometimes I think the not knowing is a blessing.  Hang in there!  *hugs*

@JESSABER0414 when is your transfer?? Mine will likely be either the 20th or 24th I think.

  • @rainbowwishes5 - i completely agree with @SingleGeneMe...we are also doing PGS since we already have to do PGD, so we figured PGS was also worth it. My husband is already second guessing, since we just had our PGD consult (and the counselors kind of freaked him out when emphasizing that nothing is 100% guaranteed, and 3%-5% of pregnancies have random birth defects anyways, etc etc etc) that all of this is worth it, but most of the time he is confident that we're trusting our guts and doing the right thing... :)

@winnie81 - i LOVE potato pancakes! (we call them latkes, and usually grate/shred them instead of using leftover mashed...i must try that though!!) it was a staple in my house growing up, and it's the one "carby" food that DH and i don't moderate...

  • @JESSABER0414 a week ahead of me :)

@rainbowwishes5 that's what I was thinking too.  Regardless of which direction you went if it didn't work you would have "wasted money" so to speak. Don't let your craptastic clinic get in your head too much. Focus on you, your partner, and your embryos because nothing else matters!

@Winnie81my grandma used to make those with leftover mashed potatoes! Love!

  • Ugh so annoyed. Clinic called yesterday to tell me that my transfer has to be pushed back from the 12th to MAYBE the 15th because my estrogen was only 130.  They like for the level to be 200 or greater.   I'm concerned because just 4 days earlier it was only at 120.....it only went up by 10!

So now they're having me add .5mg of estrace vaginally and I am to go back for testing this upcoming Tuesday.  I'm worried that the .5mg won't be enough to get my levels high enough.  My work schedule is made up months in advance so I don't have the kind of flexibility where I can willy-nilly not come in.  Having 1 absent practitioner REALLY effs up the day for everyone so the earlier we solidify a date the better it is.

Have any of you ladies had to add such a small estrace dose? Did it really make a difference???

I emailed my medication nurse with my concerns and she reassured me that I'd be surprised at how such a small dose can make a big difference....but I dunno I'm still doubtful.  I get that mucosal absorption helps to  bypass liver metabolism from the gut but I fail to see how such a small dose will make a big difference.

    In other news...
My annoyance is compounded by the fact that I had to spend so much time with my in-laws yesterday and listen to my husband's siblings continue to make him the butt of their jokes.  Yet they'll  walk on eggshells for his moody-ass brother who gets away with disrespecting the family....god forbid they make him upset and he decides to not come to anymore family functions.  Yet if my husband is upset they tell him to get over it and that he is over-reacting.  I can only bite my tongue for so long.
    Trigger warning in signature...

  • @swtanana my body always reacts better to estrace vaginally so FX it does the trick for you and you're not delayed even further. It sucks when you plan work/life around these transfer dates and then they get changed last minute.

Ugh, in laws! My MIL has commented several times to my DH that I am "so quiet" when I'm there but if i were to open my mouth, I don't think I would be able to bite my tongue so I'm better off not saying anything at all! Hopefully you won't have to see them for awhile!!
  • @SwtAnana I have that moody ass brother and it sucks. So sorry :(

  • Thanks @rainbowwishes5!  I also wanted to weigh in on your PGS problems.  Honestly if I had 2 embryos I would not have done the testing.  I would have just transferred both and hoped for the best.  I have anxiety too.  I used to have full blown panic disorder with panic attacks multiple times a day.  It's so easy to overthink stuff but try to rationalize through everything and just know sometimes your mind is working overtime when it doesn't have to.  Anxiety is tough and kind of like IF, if you've never experienced it you don't really "get" it.  Hugs to you!
