I found another awesome teething toy! This one rocks because he is still a little young to be able to put the sassy banana in his mouth consistently, but he chews on his hands constantly so it's perfect!! He loves it.
Ha turns out P doesn't actually have teeth coming in...whatever we saw/felt on his bottom gums a couple weeks ago (TOTALLY looked and felt like teeth buds) disappeared!! His doc said it could have been milk blisters, either that or my kid has retractable teeth! Lol. I felt like a crazy person telling the doctor about his disappearing teeth....geez

Went to the pediatrician today. Elise is teething! Might need to go get that banana. She's been ready into her crinkly book and it has teething edges so that helps.
@FTM53@winnie1122 I have read that as well! We have seen a few teeth that I thought for sure were going to pop through but they receded back in her gums I feel like we're going to be playing this teething game twice if that keeps happening.
So...dr says LO isn't teething (just had 4 months we'll check). I think she's wrong. I get that his gums aren't swollen and no teeth are poking through yet, but he has every other symptom.
@FTM53- totally get that. I think some docs may have a different definition of teething than the avg mom. I think a lot of them refer to teething as the tooth being ready to pop through any minute/day...I think most moms- at least myself and my friends refer to teething as having to deal with the symptoms (drooling, chewing, general mouth area discomfort) on a regular basis.
@FTM53 we asked at our 4 mo appointment too, our pedi wouldn't give us a definitive answer. She said it's possible she could be, but sometimes it takes weeks to months for the tooth to poke through. We have every symptom in the book, and I can feel them under her gums, it's just a matter of time. I think @kmurdock925 is right, they might refer to teething as the tooth being ready to pop, but to us moms it's a really long process.
I know w my first son I thought he was getting a tooth at like three months had all the signs nothing popped through till eight months! It takes forever
Really?!? Ok now you guys are making me doubt myself, lol!! I swore I felt them!! But maybe not...
It's all in your head!! Haha just kidding. I'm in the same boat. Jaxon's gums are SO swollen. I hadn't put my finger in his mouth because I feel like my hands are not clean enough for that even after they are surgically scrubbed. I think I'm going to put gloves on and feel around tomorrow.
@setosh...I laughed when I read your thought about your hands not being clean enough. Sometimes I wish this was my thinking, but then I see DS sticking his hands in the dogs mouth/eyes/ears and then right to his mouth before I can clean them....guess my kid will have the immune system of an x-men.
Holy hell. We have 4-6 new teeth coming in and it's terrible! There are 4 for sure on top that I can feel have cut the gums and maybe 2 more on the bottom that I can see but not feel yet. He is having a hard time eating, sleeping, and just being happy. I feel so bad for him and HATE hearing the pain cry. I'm hoping they just come through fast and he isn't in pain anymore because nothing is helping his pain. My 5 month old will have 6-8 teeth soon. Crazy!!
@arhodes6 that is crazy! So. Many. Teeth! I feel like i have been waiting for Scarlet's to cut for months and they haven't. Just big bumps under her gums.
@KASG thanks I need it! Yeah he got his bottom 2 at 3 months and we figured more were coming but goodness! So he has cut 4 on top, canines and the incisors next to them, and I think he has his two top and two more on bottom about to come through because I can see white under the gums. I'm hoping that since those 4 have come through the worst is behind us. He slept ok last night and is eating better today so here's hoping!
Maybe @arhodes6 will be the best to answer this, but how long after they first poke through until the whole tooth is out? I can feel tiny tips of teeth on William and it's been about 4 days since they poked through. sometimes they're swollen over and I can't feel them, but nothing more has poked through.
Thanks ladies! I think we are over the worst part right now. At least I hope.
@jennyleigh16 Q's first two, the bottoms two, came quick! I could see them under the gums one day and the next morning the popped through. It took a few weeks for them to push completely out though. He has little stubs for a week or so and then one day they were full grown teeth. But these new ones are taking forever. I saw them under the gums and it took about 5 days for them to cut. I can feel them now but can't see them yet and it's been a few days. I definitely see a difference between these and his first, so maybe it's different for each baby and each tooth?
@arhodes6 - this may sound silly...but when you say you could see them under the gums...how clearly? With my LO I can clearly see the teeth in there if i put a tiny bit of pressure/feel along her gums. I see the shape and outline of them but it is from the front...not the top of the gums. Are you seeing them at the tops? I feel like I have been able to see the shapes under there since she was 3 months old
I think her teeth are finally coming in? There's two very noticeable bumps and I see white underneath them. I have a lot of friends who use those amber necklaces. Anyone think they actually help?

Ahh I'm stuck. I've been wondering the same thing. I've heard really great things about them.
Same here, I can see the very noticeable bumps, we have all the teething toys, the one that seems to be working right now is the one that looks like grapes and has a handle, so C can chomp down on it with the back of her gums. We got her the sassy banana for christmas, hopefully that also helps.
M spent the night at my parents' last night. Came to pick him up and he has his first tooth poking through! 24 weeks old. I'm a FTM and teething has been a much more difficult and drawn-out process than I expected!
@labecker55358 I hear you on long and drawn out!! AJ has been drooly and chewy and fevered on an off since 2 months...he's not even showing any other signs of teeth. My mom said I was that way and didn't get a tooth till close to my first birthday. Hoping that isn't the case!
AJ bit my nipple (he's started trying to use me as a teether)...guess it's time to pull out my lanolin and coconut oil again.
We just reached 24 weeks yesterday and he's has teething symptoms since week 10. He's currently working on tooth #3, possibly 4 but suckling my fingers in his mouth to check is not fun.
Guys, I'm really struggling today. Baby J has been so fussy since sunday, gums swollen and a mild fever. I think we'll have a tooth soon, but the all day fussiness is really taking a toll on me.
I've tried distracting her by walking and singing and even letting her watch tv. Any other ideas?
Re: Teething
We bought the munch mitt and it came in today! So far she really loves it.
DD1 had 6 teeth by 6 months old. It is rough. I'm sorry @arhodes6

@FTM53 I hear you on the painful nipples. Ugh.
