Names!

Re: Names!

  • I'm the same way!! My sister named her son James Logan with full intentions of calling him Logan... why not just name him Logan? I get shortened names (Chris for Christopher) but never understood nick names.

we are so clueless on names... I hope that seeing some of your great idea will help me choose!

We've got a definite girl name, but I'm not 100% on our boy name.  Our other children are Johnathan Xavier (Jack), Eleanor Quinn (Ellie), and Samuel Wyatt (Sammy).  Right now at the top of the list we have:

Girl: Margaret Claire (Molly or Maggie)
Boy: Theodore James (Teddy? Theo? TJ?)

I'm still keeping an eye/ear out for boy alternatives.

I was going to make a names post, but was afraid it would be frowned upon since there's a name board... I'm still trying to figure out what is/isn't okay.

I love names ALL the time, but for some reason now that I'm pregnant I hardly like anything.

Our favorite girl name is Navy.. but we haven't gotten great reactions. We also like Ivy.

For boys... I don't know. I like Ezra and Declan, he likes Cody. We do both like Greyson.
Did you just post on the Baby Names board?  I saw Navy on there recently and they weren't very kind, but they're picky.  Go with what you like.
Agree. Screw the baby name board, they're predictable and boring AF with their opinions. They definitely wouldn't approve of my son's name. It's unisex and a nature name. GASP.

  • We're going to have such a hard time naming this one! All three of our kids have six letter name, so I really want to stick with that. The problem is that it makes it super difficult to come up with ideas.

We do like Parker and Landon for a boy. I haven't ran anything by him for a girl, but I like Morgan and Meagan, which dh vetoed with our last dd. Maybe Parker for a girl, we have unisex names for our first two (Payton and Carson ), so that's nothing we're against
  • Our dds name is Kara Adeline. For this one we have had names set for a long time, if it's a girl it will be Luna Raven, if it's a boy it will be Dean Kent

  • Addison is top on our list for a girl!
  • My BF and I both have boys from previous relationships and then one together. My oldest DS is Ian Robert (18). His DS is Brendon Stephen (14). Ours is Greyson Matthew (13 months). We haven't really talked about names just yet but our list from when I was pregnant with Greyson is below (we were team green)

    Andrew (nn Drew) Michael

    Caroline Grace
Rachel Mae (Rachel is my grandmother and Mae is my Nana's middle name)
Nora Joan (Joan is BF's grandmother)

Part of me like the idea of suggesting a middle name of Orion for a boy - It is my BF's father's boat that is old and they might be getting rid of soon - it has been in the family forever.
  • So many good names on this board!  <3 Presley is one of my favorites, too, but it doesn't go well with DD's name.

  • Everyone has such good name ideas!
We probably won't fully discuss names until we find out the gender but I have a list!
    Girl:
Eleanor (nn Nori) -- it would take a really great name and my husband to throw a hissy-fit to not use Eleanor but we'll see.
    Aurora (nn Rori)

    Boy:
    Bennett E(something)
    Hugo

Our last name starts with an N which is why we have the E(something) for Bennett because we think it would be neat to have his initials be BEN.  :) I also want unique middle names like Orion, Athena, Luna, Alina, etc.. but DH isn't as in to that so no clue on the middle names yet.

This is such a fun thread!

for years I've had Damien in mind for a boy but DH has never really liked it. My new front runner is Arlo which DH says "isn't a real name" ?? Thankfully we have time.

for girl we both love Ora. To avoid family drama and opinions we won't name after anyone.

Definitely big fans of old fashioned names.
Arlo is 100% a name! I know a few, but I'm in Australia. It's a super cool name if you ask me! Ora is beautiful too. All the best.
  • I have been thinking about names for almost as long as I can remember, and hubby and i actually discussed them before we even started TTC!!  So we are all set (unless we have twin boys, then we are screwed) lol

Girl: Emily Eve and Johanna Marie (our grandmothers)
Boy: Vincent James III (family name)

  • @Sevenn Arlo is the name of one of the characters on "The Good Dinosaur".

I swoon over Johanna Marie!  I've only met one Johanna and she was a beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girl.
  • @Allybiery I have a Milo too and I adore your naming style!
  • Not looking forward to the name battle.  DS is Declan which I love and I tend to lean towards Irish names but try to stay away from super popular ones.  Anything in the top 20 is vetoed right away because my name is as common as it gets and it was super annoying.
For a girl I'm obsessed with Regan but H vetoed it last time...mind you he also vetoed Declan at first so who knows.  For a boy I have no idea.  I love Deacon but think it might be too similar to Declan.
  • We are thinking Hays or Colt for a boy. And for a girl I have no clue. Last time we liked Reagan but I am not feeling it this time around. Someone on my August board named her daughter Bexley. I love that name but DH isn't feeling it.
  • Our son is Carter Scott and our daughter is Kyle Catherine "K.C."

Names in the running for #3 are Cohen David and Campbell Jean
  • We have had our 2 fav names set in stone for a while now, after many arguments lol.
    Girl: Amelia
    Boy: Lachlan
Not completely sure what middle names yet, still working on that  :)

Love!  Camrynn was going to be Campbell because that's where we met at Ft. Campbell.  I still regret not using it.
  • @asiram1218 that is my dad's mother's name and she and I were always very close. She went by Jenny but I ALWAYS loved that name. My cousin had a baby girl a few years ago and I was worried she'd scoop it up first (my cousins name is Janna) but luckily she didn't.   I know people are often secretive of baby names because they don't want to be judged but I've always been open because I don't want anyone to steal it!!!!   Haha
  • Love Love Love all the names flying around here ladies.  <3  It is a superstition not to tell anyone the baby's name until they are born in my husbands culture, but after deciding not to tell he got excited and told everyone. Ha. So this time I don't care and will tell everyone.

Our first was easy. We named him after grandparents on both sides Avatar Ramsey. We had it picked out like week 7.

    Girl- Maurya Rowan

    Boy- Kiran or Tarun
My husband wants Ragnar for a middle name and he is not sold on either first name so this one may take a while longer.  B)

  • We talk about names ALL THE TIME and have a few good options for both girl and boy names but haven't settled on anything. We're not going to tell anyone what names we're considering - we both have very opinionated families and we don't want to deal with that :) We're also not going to find out what gender the baby is before he/she is born.

In the meantime, we've nicknamed the little one who's growing in my belly - Poppy Power! We found out I was pregnant when it was still the size of a poppy seed so my hubs started referring to it as Poppy Power and it's just stuck.

Anyone else have nicknames for their growing babes?
  • @acrose0226 I've been referring to it as a little June Bug.... kind of cheesy, I'll admit, but this is the only Birth Month it fits!

  • @JackieMarie1989 I've been thinking that Matilda Jane is a really cute name since you mentioned it, but it sounded really familiar. I have finally figured it out. It's a line of children's and women's clothing sold by trunk shows. I've gotten Facebook invites to them before. https://www.matildajaneclothing.com/

Not a deal breaker for me! haha. As long as Matilda Jane isn't a serial killer I'm good. I like Matilda Joy a bit better. But oh well, DH won't go for either

  • DH and I are throwing around names but every time I bring it up, he throws out silly names....or at least I hope he is being silly? I like the name Finnley (nickname him/her Finn) for a boy or a girl. I also like Amelia for a girl and Grayson for a boy. We probably won't pick a name until we know the gender.
  • We haven't discussed it much, but we both like Max for a boy and Margo for a girl, with family middle names. Likely Maxwell Emil or Margo Elizabeth. Such a big decision... they will be stuck with it forever! We plan to go team green, so we'll need to have both sorted ahead of time!
  • With my DD naming was difficult bc I've been a teacher for like 12 years and I have a lot of name associations. Lol. I'm sure that's going to happen this time too. We haven't talked names much since getting pregnant. For a boy I like: Maddox Allen or Tate Allen (Allen is my dads middle name). The girl name is so much harder!  I've had a running list but my DH isn't totally sold on any of them. For a girl I like: Nora Ruthann (one of my grandmas first names and another grandmas middle name) or Sadie Nicole (Nicole is my middle name)

I'd do a bit of research on Cohen, it's a very important surname in the Jewish faith and some find its use as a first name disrespectful .

We have boy/girl twins:  Anderson Michael & Bennett Grace ( Ben & Andy ) ☺️

Husband wants next baby to be a "C" name to keep w/ the ABC theme.. Just not 100% sold.

I do like: Cameron or Carson for either boy/girl

    Guess we will see!
  • My husband and I are thinking of using Johanna for a girl or William for a boy. We're still pretty undecided on middle names. Maybe William Joseph or William Patrick.

My husband likes Johanna Elizabeth because Elizabeth is a family name on his side of the family. I just don't think the two names go together exactly. I think if we want to include a family name from his side it should be Johanna Marie or something along those lines. My husband's mother named Mary so I think Marie would be a nod to that.

Fortunately we have plenty of time before this baby is born because otherwise it may come out without a name.

  • I love all these names! My hubs and I have been so frustrated this time around coming up with names...no clue why round 2 seems so much harder! We had no issue coming up with both a boy and girl name 2 yrs ago. Our son is Aaron James (nn AJ), named after my grandfathers. Our girl name had always been Isobel Rose (nn Izzy)...but now my first cousin has named her DD Izabella and calls her Izzy constantly and 2 other cousins have used the MN Rose, so the name has lost some of its charm for the both of us. We currently don't have any family members to name for, thankfully (Jewish, so name after deceased relatives).

Our front runners right now are:

Girl: Emilia (we like the twist on the classic spelling and don't want another A name)
    Boy: Jonah

I still go back and forth on both names, hubby is VERY picky, and we're completely lost with middle names...suggestions welcome! We really want to have this set before the anatomy scan....somehow, having the security of a name was comforting for both of us last time.

    Thanks for reading my saga...
  • Girl will be Victoria with 2 middle names - one will be Grace and we haven't decided on the other. Middle names in the running are Penelope, Eleanor, Frances, and Harper.

We don't agree on boy names. My choices are Charles and Maxwell and DH's choice is Michael. No idea for middle names.
