Weight loss?

Has anyone else lost weight so far? I'm just trying to be careful as in eating healthier and smaller meals. I have a hiatal hernia and the heartburn is horrible even when I'm not pregnant so I want to keep weight gain under control. I've lost 9 pounds which is great. I am only 5'4" and now 174 so I could afford to lose 30lbs anyways(not pregnant of course) . I gained 50 with both boys and it was uncomfortable and hard to lose!!! Doc said to try to keep weight gain to 20-25 but maybe I won't even hit that. We'll see.

This isn't medical advice, just my thoughts. I lost 4 pounds in the last 3 weeks due to nausea and not really eating huge meals, but the appetite's turned around so I expect to even out again, lol. I had an OB appointment today and we talked about foods, what to avoid, what to go for, new recommendations (since I was last preg 3 yrs ago), and about weight gain. My doc said the 25-30 pounds is normal for each preg, except, since I'm a bit overweight to start with, she'd like to see my overall gain be closer to 10 pounds over the long haul here. I'm personally not going to try to lose any weight but will try to rein in any ridiculously huge gains. She said during the preg (2nd tri. especially) the baby needs to gain weight, and that's why I'll gain weight, and that's where the 10 lbs. comes in. My point is Don't be upset if you end up not losing any weight. Our bodies were meant to put it on while we're growing a human. Try to make good food choices along the way, and that will make your postpartum eating habits healthier in general and your resolve stronger and then losing weight will be easier at that point (than had you just been eating poorly all along during this year). I'm right there with you. Let's take it one day at a time and choose wisely and we'll be better off for it!

My first 2 kids I lost weight in the first trimester and STILL ended up gaining 55-60lbs overall. So far I've already gained a lot so I'm terrified how much I'll gain in total this time. So basically, it's normal to lose, it's normal to gain. Just eat the best you can and your body will do what it's meant to do.

I'm overweight. So I'm told to lose 5-10 lbs. my first, I lost 60. My second, 45.  Both girls were super healthy. And I didn't go on crazy diets. I was super sick, for one. And I gave up soda and really watched what I ate.

I lost 15 lbs with my first, but because I was super sick for the majority. This time sickness is much better and I've already gained. I'm starting overweight so I need to do a better job of eating good portions and making healthier decisions.

I'm loosing about 1lb every 2 weeks. I'm also overweight though so my Dr said It was fine. She also told me to start exercising now so I can continue through pregnancy to avoid gaining too much weight.

I was exercising and I haven't in weeks. I'm wondering if it's ok to start again. It's pretty low impact stuff. Weights cardio and some Pilates/yoga.

You can always start again because your body knows what's going on. Just start up slowly so that you won't injure yourself.

I wouldn't stress about it, my first pregnancy I lost 15lbs in the first trimester but my appetite picked up after that and I still gained 40lbs overall. All pregnancies are different though :)

I'm down 10lbs since getting BFP on 08/24. Purely because of how sick I've been. I'm not worried about it. At this point my goal is to keep my weight from going down. Which is difficult because my stomach has shrunk quite a bit.

I'm down 8 lbs and am 11W/3D. Mine was mostly due to being too tired to bother eating there for a while. I'm 5'2" 141 currently and hope to keep excess weight gain minimal.

I've lost 5 and I'm pretty happy. I'm looking to only gain about 10 his time. Last time I was up about 15 at 34 weeks before my BP went nuts and I swelled up like a Macy's Thanksgiving day parade balloon.

I also have a real real struggle with the idea of gaining weight at all so I saw a dietician last time. She was great. I got a graphic like this that helped put pregnancy weight changes into context. Of course everyone's ideal gain differs based on their body and health conditions but it's interesting to see all the factors at play besides just the baby.

Ugh. I've lost 14 lbs in the past 5 weeks due to nausea/vomiting and not eating my regular sized portions. I lost weight in the first tri with my first two pregnancies too... and then gained 30ish with each after the sickness passed

Am down 9 lbs. I'm really overweight, so as soon as I found out I changed my diet to eat healthier. I think the change from junk to veggies is the reason for the lost because my appetite has only increased.

I'm also down about 10-12 (depending how constipated I am!!). But I too was overweight when I got my BFP so I'm not worried. I'm right between overweight and "obese" in my BMI category. So I will need to aim for 11-20ish total. I figure the more I lose now (because I'm nauseated and can't eat the portions I typically do) the more I'll be able to gain later!!

I think every body handles pregnancy a little different. With my first. I lost about 15 pounds in the first trimester and only had a net gain of 2 pounds for the whole pregnancy. And I am an average sized person--maybe a little extra cushion, lol...the baby was totally healthy though. This pregnancy. I'm down 5 pounds so far. I'm guessing it's mostly because I'm not drinking a glass or two of wine every night. :-) Just focus on eating well and let your body do what it's going to!

I second what @Kipperoo said.  During my first pregnancy I found that my weight gain was totally random.  Some months I wouldn't eat great but wouldn't gain a pound, other months I'd eat super healthy and exercise frequently and would put on 5+ pounds.  There was no rhyme or reason.

Yes. The weight gain is random! I feel like I continued to eat the exact same when I was pregnant the first time as when I was not pregnant and I gained 47lbs. I've already gained 6lbs this pregnancy and I have no idea why.. my appetite has been low from nausea. My midwife kind of questioned it and said we only like people to gain 20-25lbs.. I said well I gained 47lbs last time and didn't have any health issues, also I lost it all plus some. I sort of feel like the weight gain is uncontrollable.. unless your consciously eating a bunch of junk...

my sister and I are complete opposites. She lost weight with her pregnancy and was a little overweight to begin with.. I'm not sure how much.. I bet she lost at least 20-30 lbs. She ate/eats terribly.. fast food all day everyday... but had a healthy pregnancy and baby.

    everyone is so different....
