Trying to liven up this board a bit...let's chat about Halloween!

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment?

And for me:

1. Yep, we decorate. We meaning I decorate. Mostly the inside of the house because I'm too lazy to do something outside--my 2 year old son is OBSESSED with the "ske-yel-tons" that are "smiling" at him and all of the spiders. 

2. I will likely not dress up, maybe some Halloween leggings to take my son trick or treating. He's dressing as a flamingo because they are his current favorite animal and he's young enough to be very, very excited about it.

3. Eh...I guess I'm indifferent. Some of them are good, but I dislike the ones that require explanation/both parties constantly present, especially at parties/in large groups (see my next answer...). 

4. Mine is from a few years ago, so I was definitely an adult. A group of my friends and I all went to New Orleans for Halloween and decided to do a "through the decades" group costume. I was the 90s and dressed very grunge...I was mistaken for a pan handler outside a bar waiting for my friends...a drunk girl offered me $1 and the rest of her half-drank yard stick margarita because (to quote this very drunk and socially inappropriate girl) "even poor people should have fun on Halloween"...

5. Love scary movies! My brother (who lives on the other side of the country) and I watch them all during the month of October and swap suggestions. Although I don't really think most "scary movies" are actually scary...open to suggestions, if you ladies have some favorites!

No. But if I had my own place specifically with a yard I would!

Nope just excited to trick or treat with my 2yr old!

I love creative/unique ones that ppl come up with and put thought into. But the typical store bought "outlet and plug" type of thing is on my hate list.

I didn't have money in HS to buy a costume for a friend's party so I went as a "model". No one knew what I was I had a hat with a wig attached, sunglasses, a shirt, and a piece of leopard fabric safety pinned as a mini-skirt lol
5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em?
dont like them but I recently went to don't breathe with DH just to get the date-night/popcorn...

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment? We mostly just decorate the mantle. We always have intentions to decorate, but never follow through. 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? I'll probably be working this year, and I still have to wear my uniform. But I'll probably wear cat ears and paint my face. I saw a cute one of someone's belly being the kool-aide man breaking through the wall. But I don't have anywhere to wear it too lol

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? I like them most of the time. It's even cuter when it's a whole family costume and the kids match too.

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? When I was 6 I was the Easter bunny for Halloween. Don't get me wrong it was super cute, but also very odd for a Halloween costume. And my mom said I picked it out myself lol. 

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I'm in the middle about them. I don't go out of my way to watch them, but if DH wants to then I can sit through them.

@Kipperoo your group costume story is hilarious!

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment?
We haven't before but this year I went a little crazy at home depot buying decorations so we will.  DS is almost 2 so I think it's going to be really fun for him, and I have such good memories of decorating my house growing up that I can't wait to recreate that with him.

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as?
Nope, way too lazy.  Maybe I'll get a witch hat or something for when I take DS trick-or-treating.

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between?
Kind of hate them.  Unless they're really clever.  If you're dressing up just for the sake of dressing up, then I hate it.

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)?
I can't think of anything.  

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em?
HATE!  I used to love them in HS but now I'm not into anything scary or gory at all.

Do you decorate your house/apartment?
Usually I just buy the $1 window clings at Target. This year my 3 year old thinks we should decorate outside. 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? @Kipperoo I like the leggings idea (thank you for keeping spirits up/distracting us.) Depends on if our friends have their halloween party.

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? We use to do them as a family. I dressed up as a nurse with the hat and white knee length dress. My husband wore real army gear along with our son. Now I don't have the energy to come up with and plan everyone's costumes.

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I use to love them. My SIL and I would watch them all the time. Now the mom in me instantly cringes and can't handle it.

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment?
I decorate my mantle and some windows.  

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as?
We have a new principal so I don't know if we will at work but I probably won't do much outside of work.  I usually just borrow one of my students shoulder pads, throw on my Polamalu jersey, and add some eye blacks.

Hate em hate em!!

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)?  When I was in 6th grade me and some of my friends thought it would be cute to wear little jammies things and dress up as babies.  My mom was so mad at me but I couldn't figure out why.  I look back now and realize I was going through middle school weirdness and hanging out with the future "friendly" girls.  The clothes we wore to school were crazy inappropriate and the boys loved it.  I wasn't smart enough to be embarrassed then, but I am now.

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em?

I LOVE scary movies.  I don't care for gore but scary I love.

1. I decorate sparingly around the house and the mantle. And we have a fall wreath that goes up on the front door in October. 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? Yes, probably a 50s girl but just for an adult halloween party, not for actual halloween. 

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? They're okay but not my style.

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? I don't have one that I remember.

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment? No, but I am planning on decorating the cargo space in my SUV for a Trunk or Treat

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? Still not sure if we are dressing up, but the twins are going to be Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? I was Snooki from Jersey Shore, the only embarrassing thing was my tan got everywhere since I had WAAAAAAY too much to drink

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I really like them but DH isn't a fan so I haven't seen one in a while.

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment? Nah. Our current and last 2/3 apartments have been on the 2nd/3rd floor. We just get a pumpkin and put it on our balcony. Maybe next year when we have a house!

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? I don't but DD will probably dress up as a monkey. She is obsessed with the 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed song. I'm trying to convince DH to dress up as the man in the yellow hat haha.

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? Nothing comes to mind. Sorry I'm boring!

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I used to love watching them with friends throughout middle to high school but now, not so much. I rather stick to thrillers.

I keep meaning to and keep not (except 1 carved pumpkin on our porch)

I'm a huge family costume person so we're doing totoro (I don't know if any of you know it) this year. We have 2 parties and trick or treating to wear it to so I'm super excited!

Not me but growing up, my family of 7 always did elaborate family costumes. I think it was awesome but my poor mom got stuck being whatever was left over (ie jafar from aladdin, the joker in batman, the crocodile in Peter Pan, etc). It's hilarious looking at all the pictures. 

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I
Hate them. I remember loving them when I was younger but now I have no idea why!

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment? Aside from a pumpkin outside, not really. 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? At work I'm dressing up as Dorothy. We are doing a Wizard of Oz theme for our costume contest. Then for a party I will be a Jedi since DD wants to be Rey. 

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? I don't have a particular feeling about them, I just don't prefer to do them. We have done family costumes the last two years. DD was Cinderella, MH was Prince Charming, and I was the fairy godmother for her first Halloween. And last year she was Tinkerbell, he was Peter Pan, and I was Wendy. 

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? I really can't think of one. 

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I HATE scary movies!! I can't even watch commercials for scary movies.

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment? I do inside, but I don't have very many halloween decorations. I also like to swap some of our framed photos to photos from past Halloweens or spooky things. I always get a pumpkin and carve it. (My profile pic is my cat discovering what pumpkins were the first October after we adopted her). 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? Well, I did have an amazing Cruella DeVille costume plan, but I didn't get on it early enough. My SO and I rarely do anything on Halloween anyway. We don't have kids yet, so we would feel like creepers if we went to any local "family" events. That leaves us with adult parties, and we are less into the bar scene and more into the "look how much you save if you just buy a 6 pack and go home" scene (no beer for me this Halloween!). 

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? I do like couple/group costumes. We also go to our local comic con regularly. I love all the cool cosplay/costumes. I already have a lot of "family theme" ideas for various ages (could be comic con or Halloween): Jareth/Sarah/Toby from Labyrinth, a Moony/Landfallian/baby from the comic Saga, Jesse/James/Meowth/Pikachu from pokemon, Obvs- The Addams Family. I can't think of any others right now. The best group costume I've seen was a group all dressed like the Flash. They would pose for photos with each person in a slightly different running position so it looked like one person going super fast.

@Jbananas4 - I know totoro That sounds really cute. And your mom sounds like such a good sport to do all of that work and then get the "leftovers" costume. That's so sweet. 

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? I can't think of anything. Except maybe that awkard teenage girl phase were you dress a little too trashy... 

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I like sci fi channel style scary movies- things with monsters, giant spiders, stuff like that. I also like psychological thrillers like Rosemary's Baby and The Babadook (which did freak me out some). Paranormal/supernatural ones legit freak me out though and I don't know why it would be entertainment to scare myself like that. I'm okay with watching the Poltergiest once a year, but if SO wants to watch the something like the Exorcist he needs to do that when I'm busy.

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? I don't know yet. I'm slacking this year. I usually already have it picked out.

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? When I was in 5th grade I was Left eye from TLC lol. I love her, but I probably looked ridiculous.

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? Maybe? My daughter is going as a butterfly or witch (can't make up her mind), so I might do something small to go along with that.

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? More sad, but I lost my mom's real wedding veil one year in a Halloween snowstorm.

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment?
Heck yes! Usually by Oct 1. We add a little bit every year. Hoping to add an inflatable this year, the kids love decorating.

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as?
For the past few years we have dressed up as a family. This year, my DS is old enough to have an opinion, so he is going as Chase from Paw patrol.  DH will be Ryder so they will match. DD is going as Cinderella, haven't decided if I will be the fairy godmother or maybe a pumpkin.

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? I like family costumes! But couples too if they are original. 

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)?  Hmmmm...I guess when i was little, I wanted to be a bat, my mom handmade my costume, but people always thought I was a witch, I had to constantly flap my wings. 

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? Hate em mostly, have to be in the mood to watch them.

1. Yes, my favorite is putting out our pumpkin masterpieces! Hopefully, we will begin decorating sometime in the next week!

2. I do plan on dressing up, but it'll honestly be a last minute since I don't know when I'll start showing. My family has started suggesting I dress up as a an avocado lol

3. Couples costumes are cute/funny if they're creative & clever.

4. When I was younger my mom dressed me as a witch. The teacher's complimented me saying that my mom had done a great job, because I actually resembled a witch. That was the perfect excuse for everyone in the third grade to pick on me! My face was painted green and I had a fake mole on my nose! My mom had also teased my hair pretty well. She also filled in my eyebrows thick and black. I guess it wasn't so bad, but it was hard to get through the day

5. I love scary movies. Anything halloweeny is great. I'm pretty excited to binge watch movies!

We usually just put some pumpkins out on the porch. We hate storing decorations, lol. 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as?
Yes, we   Halloween. DS is going to be this adorable Lion (he's a Leo).  DH and I are still deciding. Last year, DS was a tootsie roll, DH was Penny Wise the clown from It and I was Nancy from The Exorcist. It was awesome.

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I do like watching them but I get easily scared, yell out and jump and everything. My husband LOVES scary movies and laughs at me all the time.

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment? Yes. I love Halloween, and though I don't love fall, I like the decorations. 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? I'm redoing my broken doll costume. I wear a cute dress, do doll-like makeup, and then I frizz out my hair a little and use eyeliner to draw cracks. 

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? Usually love them, because I like the effort it takes to pull them off or the comedy. 

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? I made a busted looking hedgehog costume a few years ago. It was really good until it came to the hood. 

5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em? I love some and hate some. I like the plots, but hate things popping out. Also, as the wife of a man who goes on tour with his band a lot, I hate thinking of scary things whenever I miss home alone later.

   I try to decorate but I never finish!

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? SO and I are really into gaming. We're thinking about dressing up as Pokemon trainers and dressing up DS as the cutest Pokemon we can think of! However, I've always preferred the darker stuff.

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? I was 12 years old. 12 YEARS OLD and still dressing up as candy princess. Wtf?! Did my mother hate me? Why would she allow that?!

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment?
I decorate more for fall and keep most of the decorations up until Thanksgiving. 

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? I got Lularoe Halloween leggings- does that count. This year Dd1 is dressing up as a Dorothy from the wizard of oz, dd2 is Glenda, chihuahua as Toto, pug as a flying monkey... Considering dressing up too.

3. Couples costumes: Love em? Hate em? Somewhere in between? I think they are cute. DH likes to pick out more controversial costume based on big stories of the year and I like to keep the peace 

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? My dear mom always made my costumes. They were all embarassing but I loved her effort and now make my girls costumes... Poor things!

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment?
I would if I lived in a normal busy neighborhood. We live in upstate NY where the nearest neighbor is like a mile away. No one has ever come trick or treating its depressing. Halloween is my jam thought so when we move someday I'll get back into it.

No we are going to florida halloween weekend for a week and I won't be feeling like putting any effort into it after driving over 18 hrs.

Depends- I wouldn't because my husband is a pooper but when I see one done right i appreciate it.

I think when I decided to make a mummy costume, which was really off white jammies with gauze wrapped around it and that didn't last long
5. Scary movies: Love em? Hate em?
Love scream and late 90s scary movies. The new ones these days are so dark and make me uncomfortable. I hate doll scary movies.

1. Do you decorate your house/apartment?
Yes, but this year my 3 y.o. daughter is terrified of Halloween decorations. She has demanded only happy decorations. Meanwhile, most of the decorations we use are terrifying (rats eating bones, graveyard stuff, spiders, etc). So, we will probably scale it back this year.

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as?
I won't dress up. My daughter wants to dress up as Butterfree from Pokemon, so I have a butterfly costume for her

I think they are kind of cheesy.

Hmm... I don't really have anything for this one.

 1. Do you decorate your house/apartment? My favorite time of year!! I go all out with decorations and usually have it all up Sept 1st!

2. Are you planning on dressing up and what as? Although my 3yo thinks I need to be a kitty, I think I will pass on dressing up

4. Most embarrassing Halloween costume as a child (or adult)? Hmmm.... not so embarrassing but I have 2 older brothers so I always had hand-me-downs. I was spider man more than once....

1. yes we decorate our house every year! DH and I really enjoy Halloween!!
2. Im not planning on dressing up but DD is going to be a princess (Sofia the 1st) or a fairy.
3.couples costume... I dont hate them and I don't love them!!
4.most embarrassing costume... umm...none.
5.scary movies... are a no!! do not like them!

1. I like to decorate but it tends to fall to the bottom of my list. This week I'll try and get some things out. Last year was our first year in this house and it was way more fun but it's way bigger than our last house so I ran out of decorations quickly!

2. Not this year. I work 7am-7pm this year and I'll probably just come home and pass out candy. 

3. I think they can be fun if done right. A couple years ago my H and I went as Bonnie and Clyde. But we put bullet holes all over ourselves. It was very cute. 

4. I don't really have an answer for that one?

5. Not so much. They're ok but my H hates them so we pretty much stay away. Although I'm with @kaitiet - hocus pocus is the bomb. I also watched practical magic on Netflix last week.
