About to cry out of frustration

I'm never going to be able to lose this extra weight, and then some. I actually got outside today to take my son on a walk, I was proud of myself for actually getting outside and off the couch. I get half way down my complex and my back started to spasm and I just could not take the pain. Does anyone else still live with reaccurring pain and stiffness from their epidurals? My nurse practioner told me I probably developed arthritis where the epis were (I had 2), but that was months ago and she didn't give me any advice really on what to do. I actually want to be active because this is my favorite time of year, but I can't handle the pain :( someone please help is you have a suggestion what I can do

  • Will your insurance cover physical therapy? That would be a good place to start. As always, consult your MD! Big hugs mama! <3 You know I'm right there with you on the weight-loss train. Have that chef hubby of your help meal plan & meal prep! I've been trying to do some #healthylifechoices posts on my IG.

    The struggle is real!

  • Have you tried a chiropractor? Your insurance plan probably covers it. Also glucosamine/chondroiten supplements.

I'm really struggling with weight loss too, so you are most definately not alone.
  • @PinkPrincessPiper I know I just saw your Instagram post! You go girl! Walking through the park should be easy but not if this pain happens and it makes me so mad, it's not fair. My OB doesn't believe me that it's from my epidurals because he said that it can't cause this, but he's a man and has never had one so..lol I'm going to make a doctors appointment again next week because it's too much and I know once winter hits it's going to get worse from the cold
  • @missliz53 I've been begging my mother to find one that's in our network since I'm still under her plan until the end of this year. I called her today and she said she's going to make a double appointment for us both, so hopefully she doesn't forget
  • That pain sounds horrible, I'm sorry!  I have back pain often too, and I'm not sure if it's epidural related or not.  I've actually had an increase in pain over the last several days, almost like a throbbing, achy feeling in my spine. I have really bad TMJ, and it has really flared up recently too...anytime I get stressed it gets worse.  I clench my jaw so badly that it hurts my neck, shoulders, jaw, head, etc.  Not fun!  So I'm not sure if my back pain is related to that, or something else.  I need to get in and see the chiropractor....I keep putting it off, I've never been so I am really nervous about it for some reason!
  • @lmbrandt I haven't been to a chiropractor yet either and it makes me nervous too. I have a  paraplegic aunt so anything involving the back in our family has been a scary topic
  • I've seen a chiropractor this past year for back pain, and while the adjustments helped some of the pain, the thing that made the biggest difference was the stretches and exercises routine they gave me. There's a ton on YouTube that are really good, be sure to look up the piriformis muscle stretch, that's my favorite.
  • Have you tried some lower impact type exercise like swimming?  Hope you feel better soon!

  • Maybe a nice deep tissue massage?
  • I'm sorry you're in pain! If your main goal is weightloss, remember that 80% is dependent on your food intake and 20% is dependent on your activity level (or so I've heard and it's held true for me). I've never been able to lose weight by exercising and when I add it to healthy eating, I still lose the same amount without the exercise.

I started using MyFitnessPal to track my food again once I weaned LO, and amazingly I've lost 8 lbs in just 30 days just from sticking to my calorie goals! I will take a 30-minute walk when I can on my lunch break, but I know watching my calories is what has allowed me to take the weight off (and I think weaning helped me lose some of that weight I had been holding on to). Just a suggestion if losing weight is your goal and you're not able to exercise as much as you'd like right now because of pain!

Hope you're able to find something for the pain!
  • You should try seeing a GP first. I'm having back problems from carrying 2 large babies, and a lot of it is just lack of strength from after the pregnancy. I've been going to PT and have drastically increased strength in my glutes, which is neeeded to support sacrum and back.
