Boys are so great. I love having a little boy. He is gross and likes bugs, but he is by far the sweetest and most loving child I have ever met. He loves his mama more than anything. Being a boy mom is wonderful. I have both and they are both great in their own ways.
@serenity13 yes! I am taking my final 3 courses and then I am done! but I stupidly put off my sciences and so now I'm taking two at once so I don't have to do another semester just to take one class. Science is also my worst subject besides Math, I had a 3.7 GPA last semester and I was like " oh yeah gonna shoot for that 4.0" no... I just wanna pass these courses and be done!
Ok so has anyone seen The video going around about using a strand of your hair and a ring you wear all the time to see what gender you have/are having? So I just did this. I'm a FTM and apparently this one will be a girl and she will have a baby sister and baby brother. 3 for me: girl girl boy. I just think it's funny. I'm not sure what I'm having yet so can't wait to see if it's right.
I got my first tentative "are you pregnant?" question today. So while I'm still partly in the questionable is that a beer belly or baby stage, apparently I'm now leaning more towards that's definitely a baby if people are asking me.
Went to the Bump Club Gearapalooza tonight, heard Baby Guy talk. Totally worth the ticket price for me and DH (also, the swag bags they hand out are packed and I'd say maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the audience won raffle items, many of which were things like strollers and carseats). I learned SO MUCH about safety and the actual data around different things, and got lots of super practical advice... as a FTM with limited baby-stuff experience it was great, even STMs seemed to learn alot. The vendors were hit and miss, some actually were also pretty great at basic education too, but the carseat/mattress/breast pump/stroller advice from the presentation was fantastic.

So apparently my husband took my comment before I got pregnant about how the second time around I know I don't need a bunch of crap, as that we don't need to buy cute clothes for the baby ... his words " why are you spending money on clothes he/she will wear for three months? I can go get a pack of onesies for 5 bucks!" apparently he has not ventured into the baby clothes for a very long time... I said " honey, even a pack of PLAIN white onesies is more than $5" I've bought like 5 onesies.. FIVE! and they're adorable and Harry Potter themed so of course I HAD to get them.. plus I don't think paying $10 for a custome onesies is that much! I was talking about not buying baby shoes for an infant or a ton of newborn clothes they'll never wear, not that our kid can't have CLOTHES the whole first year.
@mrsyimster the swelling will come back down!! I thought the same thing with my first.
I did have the option to get resized for free at the jewler, but I just chose to wear it on a chain around my neck for the last few montha instead of having to get it resized once and then again after.
@mecoats I got boy (DS is 2), girl and then my ring dropped (weak pregnancy hair?!) We're done after this baby and Team Green so there's a 50% chance it 'worked' for me
@mecoats I did it today, I got girl, girl, then it stopped. I already have a daughter so I guess we'll see if it's right on the 17th when we have our gender scan! It's something silly and fun to pass the wait time lol
I might get a Kendra Scott. Hehehehe! as for the sizing.... My wedding band is unique and has diamonds all around. I was told when I bought it that it can never be sized. Engagement ring can. But I will wait till later to see if needed. Maybe stick my hand in a cold water after March next year hahah
I did the ring gender test today...got a pretty clear girl reading. BUT when I asked my son If the baby was Alice or George, my nontalking toddler said very confidently George. So I guess I have to wait 4 weeks to be sure
I had a dream last night that my boss served me mashed potatoes in bed and they were so fluffy and buttery and the best thing I ever had. I am half Russian but I HATE potatoes in all form except KFC fries (and even that's rarely enjoyable). So I woke up, got my chores started and decided to make mashed potatoes. Had a few mouthfuls and they just didn't taste good. I hate when something's not as good as you assume they would be. I should have taken the fact that my boss was serving them to me as a sign to stay away lol
So this past Thursday I decided to get my hair trimmed by an actual hair stylist as opposed to just doing it myself. I asked for my bottom layer to be trimmed a half an inch....maybe up to an inch at the most. I left with 3+ inches of all my layers gone and somehow got convinced to get partial highlights along the way. I've since been experiencing the most awful sense of buyer's remorse, missing my old hair like crazy and crying over my stupidity at letting myself get talked into the shorter layers & stupid highlights. I've spent the last few years trying to grow out my hair/old highlights (haven't colored it in about 3 years) and my hair grows slower than slow, so I know it's going to be a longggg time before I get back to my happy hair place. I've heard most women experience rapid hair growth during pregnancy but I haven't felt like my rate has changed at all.
Has anyone else had any success/have suggestions for growing hair faster (I used to take a biotin supplement but stopped once I started taking my prenatal since it has 100% DV of biotin, idk if it's healthy for baby to consume an exorbitant amount of it) or getting highlights out that doesn't require additional coloring? I'm debating dying the highlighted parts back to my natural auburn but am worried about overdoing it with the chemicals, especially so soon...and I already feel bad about having spent so much money the other day on it.
So my friend impulsively took home a kitten from a bridal shower she went to. Once she got it home her boyfriend said no flippin way. So under the guise of bringing me left over shower food she brought me this little guy. I love him so much!

@AverageAsh I know. I was kind of confused about why kittens were involved. He didn't belong to the people who were hosting. One of the guests actually brought them and tried to pawn them off on people. Weird. But a win for me!
@EnglishTeacherMama For what it's worth, I have both and my son has always been just as sweet as his sister, if not moreso. My daughter will happily give affection when I ask for it, but my son actively seeks it out. He was definitely more cuddly between one and two years than my daughter was at the same age.
He does have a rambunctious streak, but my daughter has an attitude of her own, so they are even on that front. It might just be an age thing, but he's the more reliably agreeable one right now (and when it comes to the "terrible twos," he has proven to be calmer than his sister was, less prone to tantrums for any reason other than being tired). He also seems to be really intuitive. The kid strung together a ten-word sentence when he was barely two! I can't say enough good things about having a little guy.
This has been my experience too! my son is much more affectionate and interested in being with me than my daughter ever was!
Re: Randoms 10/3
SaveSave@C25 I'm sure the quad result was a bit of a scare but glad the US was good! Hopefully the blood test will come back with more definite results.
Congrats on a little boy @EnglishTeacherMama!!
