Prenatal Massage

I hurt my shoulder at work. I had two very very large patients one shift and when the cna's need help, you help. Instead of waiting weeks for workmans comp to schedule PT, I started going to my friend who is a sports masseuse. She specifically deals with injury and helping the muscles around the injury to loosen. She has done a lot of work around my vegas nerve, chest and back of neck.

Every pregnancy I've ever had I've had severe sickness. I've had to get fluids weekly with my four year old. The baby I lost this year, I threw up multiple times a day, diclegis wouldn't touch it. This time. Since I've been going weekly for massages. Only nausea (and exhaustion). I've been afraid to say anything because I don't want to jinx it but today I talked with her about massage and morning sickness and she has read a lot and in school heard a lot about it helping.

So if you are struggling, I suggest you book a prenatal appt ASAP!

  • She didn't do any heavy work on my lower back, back area. She was working my shoulder. But the help has been the light work on my chest, back of neck, & throat. That's what's releasing the vagal nerve and easing the nausea.

I used to work the front desk at a massage studio. Pregnant women of any trimester can get a massage, but certain types are no longer safe. For example, deep tissue and releasing all those toxins is not safe for the baby. A pregnancy massage that is done with a softer touch by a listened therapist is completely safe. I can't wait to book my next massage. It's been since April, and that's way too long.
  • I just can't even fathom enjoying a massage right now with all the nausea. I've been considering trying acupuncture to see if it might help because this is really rough!

  • @march2008 I've been going to acupuncture and it's been good so far. While I'm lying there, I hardly remember I have nausea and with the diclegis,  it seems to be keeping it reasonable at least. I think whatever we can do to manage the nausea will help.
