Weekly randoms (NBR) 9-20

So I found a bearenstein bear bible at Burlington. Um... Am I the only one that finds this really weird and creepy?  Plus also, the bear Mary is supposed to be 9months pregnant and looks like this.  know, super random. (No, I didn't buy it!).

What's going on with everyone else this week?

Re: Weekly randoms (NBR) 9-20

  • Uh...YES that is equal parts weird and creepy, Squirtgun. Not much going on here in these parts! Wishing that it was actually fall weather so I could bust out some fall clothing. And trying to figure out how to dress my little family for outdoor Christmas card photos happening two weeks from now if it's still 80 degrees outside...

  • @mrsrep123 We have been discussing Halloween costumes too, but haven't come up with anything we love yet.  Younger daughter's first birthday is in a couple of weeks, so we'll probably start planning more for Halloween after that!
  • I had my second facial ever today.  My first facial was with a massage and was super relaxing.  This one? Not so much.  After lecturing me about how I need to wax my lip, the crazy skin lady started extracting all of my blackheads.  It was so painful and not at all relaxing. Is that normal?!?!

That sounds horrifying!!  I have a weird thing about other people touching my face anyway, there is now way I could handle that!
  • @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot depends on what kind of facial you paid for? Most of mine include black heads which is definitely not pleasant...especially the nose...but that's normal I feel like. After should be the massage and relaxation though. If it's alllll pain, no, I'd say not normal.

  • @sarah0985 The website said, "It includes a cleansing, exfoliation and a facial massage."  There was a cleansing and steaming first, which was nice.  But there was nothing nice after the massacre that occurred on my nose. It was for a work thing and all the others in my group said their person did not do that. My skin does look nice today, though.

  • @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot before my wedding my MIL made me and H go get facials and they did that whole blackhead extraction thing and I wanted to throat punch the lady doing it. It hurt so bad. But afterwards she put this soothing lotion on and a warm towel over my eyes and let me lay in the dark for a while. That part i liked.

You guys are really selling this "relaxing" facial concept  ;)
  • @RedBreast35 lol i've never willingly gotten one on my own. Maybe one where they just do a mudmask or something i can get on board with, but anything that claims to remove things from your skin, no thank you. I'll spend my money on a 'relaxing' time elsewhere.

  • I am such a baby about my face.  Hate popping zits because it hurts so bad, can't pluck my eyebrows because it hurts.  I get them waxed every couple months and cry during the whole thing lol. But at least it's faster than me trying to pluck one at a time. I'm officially crossing "get a facial" off my To Do list now!

  • I think I'll stick with Biore strips.  With those, I get the satisfaction of seeing all the gunk.

  • Haha I've never done a Biore strip, but I do wax my old lady upper lip sometimes and MUST look at how much got pulled out.

Ooh maybe this should be in the UO thread but I am a major face picker! Luckily I have had extremely dry skin my whole life or I would be covered in scars. I pick my blackheads and even have the extractor tool. I've only had a couple of facials and I don't remember her spending more than maybe 10 min "picking" at my skin but it's one of my favorite parts. It feels so cleansing to have all that gunk out!
  • @hezzer78. Hooray!!  That's awesome!!!!
  • @hezzer78 I was thinking of you today!! I'm so glad!
  • So, I've obviously never had a facial before because I didn't know that removing blackheads was a thing?! What kind of torture device is involved in that process? (Off to Google for pics...)

Do facials really make a huge difference in your skin appearance? Now I'm wondering if I've been missing out on something.

    @hezzer78 that's great news!!

  • Yay @hezzer78!

According to my torturer, I should get a facial every 4 months.  Doing so, she says, will make me less sensitive to her methods and give me better skin. Honestly, I feel like my skin is pretty ok.  I rarely break out and its not too dry or too oily. Aside from aging gracefully, what should I hope for in good skin?

  • In Moscow we have an option of an ultrasound face cleansing and that's a lot less painful but looks good too. I'm not sure that's available here though.
  • @hezzer78, wonderful news!!!
  • @contrarationem you're from Moscow? (Maybe you've said that already), but how cool!  :)

sorry, I'm just checking if my ticker in my sig works... ETA: it does not, I guess now I have to read about how to do it. Sigh.
  • I don't know if its okay to ask here, but didn't want to start a new thread. What are y'all eating? I don't want anything. Water and a muffin made me sick and I can think of absolutely nothing that i'd enjoy eating. Also, I desperately do not want to make anything, I just want something yummy that's already ready. too bad it's nap time so I can't get anything out.
