Good timing for a check-in!  I had my follow up blood work this morning (been 2 weeks since my MC) and my levels were back to zero!  So now, we wait.  They said to give it 35 days to wait for my period, then we'll do Provera if I don't start on my own.  REALLY hoping that the pregnancy will jump start this cycle and that I ovulate on my own, she did say there's no reason for us not to try if/when I do ovulate this cycle so that's good news!!!

Anybody have any experience with this?  I am thinking I should ovulate on my own...hoping anyway!  FX!

QOTD: my MIL is totally the gossip in our lives...pain in the neck is one way I would describe her ;)

I had an injection class last week and received my big box full of meds, eep! I'm not looking forward to all the injections but at the same time I'm feeling confident that I have the strength to get through this. I also got a mock ET done last week and all looked good there. Once I get AF the end of this month we can officially get started!

@GoldenKeys Could you update my rx to be IVF + ICSI? All seems good for us to start on this new treatment plan the end of this month.

@BWhitta FX that you will ovulate on your own this cycle!

QOTW: I've felt a, b, & c all at one time or another. I think it just depends on the subject matter :) I also don't have just one person in mind!

Hugs to anyone who needs it this week.

I'm on CD11, so we are just into our fertility window right now.  Second round of clomid was a little bit better side effects wise but I was still really on edge.

I have been having a lot of problems with stress and anxiety lately and trouble coping with it.  As an example, we had an incident at work the Friday before Labor Day that ended up leaving me so stressed and anxious that I couldn't eat for 24 hours.  I actually broke down to my boss who generously agreed to take on-call responsibilities for a while to help reduce my load.  Even with that though, I am still getting bouts of anxiety that sometimes seem to almost pop up out of nowhere.  It's like I can't even think about work without getting a stomach ache.

So today I made my first appointment to see a therapist.  It was a hard decision for me to make because a part of me worries that I'm just being dramatic, but at the very least I'm hoping that talking with someone can help to teach me better coping skills.  I think the stress from work combined with the stress from not being able to conceive has maybe just built up too much.  I sometimes wonder if the stress is what's keeping us from getting pregnant, even though (up until a few weeks ago) it seemed to be better quite awhile.

I am doing good. I'm at the beginning of my third IUI. Started it a little earlier than planned but I can blame that on my body doing what it wants too. I'm finishing up my femara and naltrexone which has caused my anxiety to be horrid this whole time. I cannot wait until my last dose tomorrow so I can start to feel normal again. I go in for another ultrasound on Thursday. My ovidrel will arrive Wednesday. I'm just chugging along, lol. My birthday is in a week and I'm giving myself  an extended weekend as a present to myself.

As for the gossip, idk....I have a few people that will come talk to me about stuff happening at work.

    First check-in

We were supposed to do iui last cycle but the smiley face came after ovulation. I have almost got a trigger shot after calling/ talking to 3 pharmacies and getting a bunch of different answers. I haven't decided yet what to do with all these appointments and missing work. As of right now, they just know I have a doctor appointment.

@hoffmanr7 I'm sorry you've been so stressed and anxious lately, I know when I go through periods like that I feel so helpless (and hopeless). It's great you will be going to a counselor; I had a few sessions with one when I was in grad school and dealing with overwhelming anxiety. It was very helpful! I'm so glad I did it; she really helped me understand my emotions and gave me tools to work through them.
You can get through this :)

@hoffmanr7 I think meeting with a therapist is one of the healthiest, bravest things you can do. The stress of TTC is tough, and it is often a very private, lonely journey. Yet as humans we are social creatures. We need someone to tell our thoughts and feelings to. I was looking for a support group myself right before our good news. No shame!

Hi ladies, I'm feeling better. Taking my meds & trying to exercise. Cd 15 & still benched. My breasts are sore so I'm hoping it's a sign I'm ovulating but since we're benched I haven't been doing OPK since they are so expensive lol.

@hoffmanr7 I love therapy & have gone a few times for different life events. My DH & I went through marriage counseling last year & lots of it centered around this infertility issue. It's crazy how much it helped. We actually both said the other day how we missed Bonnie, our therapist.

I'm Italian we have lots of gossips and I love to listen!

I had my transvaginal ultrasound today. Thanks to the ladies who weighed in on my post last week, it really helped to reduce my anxiety and it wasn't all that bad.

Interestingly I have a retroflex uterus, which has no bearing on my infertility but they are going to have to do a catheter trial to see if an IUI will work for me. I had 15 follies on the right and 16 on the left, which I guess is typical. The results also indicated I meet the criteria for mild/borderline PCOS but my clinician is pretty iffy about it, especially since I have regular(ish) cycles. She offered to start me on Metformin anyway, which I originally decided against, but now I'm second guessing that decision. I will probably call her back and start it after all.

The plan right now is to move forward with a Clomid cycle in October. DH has his SA on Wednesday (finally) and he is all on board with getting treatment underway.

QOTW: b) A pain in the neck.  I can't trust people who talk behind people's backs, EVER.

I really dislike gossips, with the caveat that I consider a gossip someone who is spreading information or misinformation with mischievous or malicious intent.

@hoffmanr7 I agree with everyone else about the therapy. I think it's a great idea. My mom keeps hounding me to do it, and I think I should. Out of curiosity to all who have or are doing therapy, how did you find a good therapist you liked?

@musiscout I told me boss--and her assistant who keeps track of sick time--right at the beginning of testing. I'm glad a did because now she knows I'm not dying or looking for another job. But I also knew I could trust her, and that this wouldn't damage my career. If you feel the same way, i encourage talking to your boss. It's one less thing to stress about.

Congratulations @starlitfae! FX that it was successful! I think that room card was a good sign. :-)

@MandyBeeSLP I'm glad your ultrasound went well. Glad your treatment plan is coming together.

@wifeinraleigh28 Good luck with your FET this week!

@StephyM89 Congratulations! I'm sorry I vanished and missed this last week. H&H 9 months!

@Bwhitta FX you ovulate on your own! I'm glad you'll be able to get back into trying again soon.

As for me, it's CD11 and I went in for my u/s this morning. Two follies (22 and 26) so we'll do the IUI tomorrow (if I get a positive OPK tonight--seems doubtful) or Thursday (with ovidrel trigger tonight). Unfortunately DH is a professor and teaches early mornings on Thursdays so no idea how this will work. Waiting for him to call me back.

And when I called my pharmacy an hour ago to ask if they'd gotten the Ovidrel prescription, he told me to transfer it to another pharmacy because he didn't want the stress of it maybe not coming in on time. This wouldn't be an issue, except NY has this obnoxious law now that requires doctors to send prescriptions electronically (no paper at all anymore). So I have a message with my RE's office asking to transfer to another pharmacy that has it in stock. I'm so annoyed right now. Could do without the stress.

Good afternoon everyone! Sorry getting your prescription is such a pain @Bababatty. Why can't things just go smoothly?!

AFM I'm cd22, 4dpo and can feel myself getting a little too excited. This is the first time since our medicated cycles in January and February that we were able to time up BD with a +OPK and confirm O. So of course if should work right....too bad everyone here knows that's not how it works (unfortunately my family doesn't at all).

DH and I have this and one more natural cycle left before our RE appt in November and I'm really praying one of these work because truthfully with me not working there's not much we can afford to do in terms of treatment right now since everything is OOP.

My grammie is our family's gossip. If you want to know anything about anybody you just ask her..and she'll tell you, regardless of if it was supposed to be a secret or not  :p

@Bababatty I would recommend looking on psychologytoday.com.  You can search for a therapist by specialty (infertility is one of the options) and you can also filter for those that are in network with your insurance, if that is an option for you.  You can read about each therapist on that website (usually they provide a summary of their background, experience, and type of treatment), and this can be very helpful when you're trying to find someone that you hope will be a good fit.  A lot of therapists also offer free phone consultations before your appointment, so you can get a feel for them.  I tell all my friends and family though, if you attend a few appointments and don't feel like it's the right fit, DO find someone else.  It can be really amazing once you do find the right fit and you'll be so thankful you looked!

    Hey Ladies,

    Congrats @StephyM89 I'm happy for you :)

As for me, I won't have any updates until October 4th when I see this new doctor and see what she says / thinks. As of this point in time I am not on any medication because they only doctor who prescribed anything was my 1st gynecologist and I didn't feel comfortable taking what she prescribed because of how she acted. @GoldenKeys I noticed I am on the list twice in your OP. I don't know if that was on purpose or not since both tags have a different "status" by them.

@Bababatty I found my counselor through my church; I called my church and since they don't have a counselor on staff, they have several ones they recommend and helped me pick one they thought would be a good fit. (also I was specifically looking for a christian counselor)  They even paid for half of my first several sessions.

Well I'm not feeling to optimistic about this cycle.

@Bababatty I love that this is too stressful for your pharmacist...geesh!  I had a really hard time getting my Ovidrel shot last month, too, because I needed it on a Sunday.  It really upset me, I lost it in the middle of CVS.  The pharmacist kept asking me why it was such a big deal when I got the shot, "why can't you just take it Monday?" BECAUSE MY EGGS WILL BE TOO OLD ON MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They love me there.......haha.

In the midst of the longest TWW ever. I swear, it feels like eternity. Holding off on testing til tomorrow (12 dpo), but know I should wait til Friday. Last try before taking a break, so I may have my hopes pinned on this one :/

Gossip in in my life is hugely entertaining. I love to listen but not get involved. Better than reality TV!

@BWhitta that is the best quote ever! Hope they got you your shot!

@hoffmanr7 seeing someone has been very helpful for me. Hopefully you find someone you click with.

@BWhitta happy to hear you're back to zero and you guys can start planning for your next cycle.  Hopefully you O on your own and get a surprise.  :)

AFM- Still taking Estrace getting ready for my FET which is tentatively scheduled for 9/23.  Everything seems to be on track so fingers crossed our transfer happens as planned.  I'm having horrible anxiety today for some reason and I hope I can shake it soon.

I love to listen to gossip but I try not to participate in it at all.  As I tell my husband I'm a secret collector not a giver.  ;)

I finished my provera 5 or 6 days ago. Usually I start the third day after EVERY time. So I'm sitting here like... what's going on? I'm having some very light cramps but no bleeding. I'm supposed to go get bloodwork done on CD 2 or 3. I'm going on 70 days this cycle.  I haven't been temping because for some reason my brain knows that I'm not actively TTC because the clomid this cycle failed and it's way past time, so I don't even wake up with the alarm. From what I read I'll wait 14 days, and if there's no AF I'll call my doc.

Gossip. Well, that's me. I only talk to 2 people regularly, and I tell them everything. (My husband and our room mate.) But I see my MIL on Sundays and she gossips with me, too. I try to keep it positive, anyway. I kind of want to quit because I know I'm not supposed to. But I don't have anything going on my life, so it's difficult.

@hoffmanr7 you may have to try a few people out....I've ended up with some therapists that were not helpful at all and wish I'd had the guts to just tell them we weren't jiving so that I could move on to someone who was more helpful.

@Worldtravler0522 fx that everything continues to go smoothly!

Fx for everyone in the throes of the TWW!

I had an appointment with my OB yesterday and he thinks we should do three IUIs, non medicated, using OPKs, then move on to working with a RE. I'm CD 11 and usually get a positive OPK around CD 13, so he scheduled IUI for this Friday. I'm SO nervous that I won't get a positive OPK till Saturday and then what? The lab and clinic won't be open.... I can totally relate to @BWhitta here with the breakdown, only mine will be "but my eggs aren't ready yet!!!"

Hi Guys! sorry missed last week- I had a BFN with my 3rd IUI/Clomid cycle- my cycle length also dropped to only 24 days (from about 29)

talked to RE and he recommended we look at doing a frozen embryo transfer to increase my chances- we had it planned but then insurance said I needed to try THREE MORE IUIS! :(

it was a let down but I am on day 3 of Letrozole so new treatment since Clomid was making me a little bloated and insomnia- no side effects on the Letrozole so far

As far as gossip- I am guilty of a little harmless gossip but I try never to be mean or make people feel bad...I just can't help it I love knowing everyones' business.

@ReesaAnne16 I'm sorry about the BFN! I know how you must feel. I hope you take some time for yourself to relax. I'm glad you're jumping back in. Thanks for your advice about the therapist, too!

@BWhitta That's hilarious! I could definitely feel a breakdown coming on myself. Did you end up having to switch pharmacies? I found one that carries all the fertility drugs so I can avoid this going forward.

@Mythril Ugh, I'm sorry that AF has still not shown up! I really hope it arrives soon. Since it's been so long already do you have to wait the 14 days or can you call your doc sooner?

@PoeMasque Did your doctor say why the unmediated IUI instead of medicated? I'm just curious; it's fascinating to see the different approaches doctors take. Good luck with your IUI! If you're close to O, it's probably ok if you're in a day early--but I'm no doctor so don't take this as truth. Better early than late, right?

    @HarleyQuinn0621 Welcome back!

@clt2pwm11 Yay! I'm glad to hear how well your little bean is growing.

@Jaje09182010 I'm sorry about the BFN and that you have to do three more IUI cycles. That's so frustrating! FX you get a BFP to make it all worth it. :-)

I had IUI#2 today. The entire process leading up to it was stressful. DH had to do a sample at home this morning because he teaches early, then we had to rush it in, and we still only ended up with 2.4 million motile sperm after the wash. I have little hope for this cycle, but this time I didn't spent 4 hours in the waiting room (our clinic is first come, first served for IUIs)--you win some, you lose some. He did finally make an appointment in October with a urologist who specializes in MFI. So we'll do one more IUI cycle before then if this is a bust.

@ReesaAnne16 and @Jaje09182010 so sorry to hear about the BFNs and three more IUIs (although yay to insurance covering some of it! That's pretty rare)

@Bababatty I think because I've had multiple monitored cycles (US) that showed normal follicular development, timed bloodwork to show I am ovulating, and my cycles being super regular, always get a positive OPK around CD 14, they were ok with no meds. My OB thinks it's more likely an issue with sperm not making it past my cervix. I did ask about FSH and AMH and he said with my regularity that it's unlikely those tests would show anything (although he did say if we aren't success full in 3 cycles then I do need to go to RE for more testing).

Hi everyone!  Well into my wait now.  I'm going between feeling hopeful and excited and feeling like none of this was a good idea and it is going to come out negative.  I am trying to remain cautiously optimistic, reminding myself that the Dr said that, since everything looked so good and we transferred an embryo that we know is genetically healthy, my odds of pregnancy are 75-80%.  But then I get doubtful and think that nothing with this has gone right in the past 5 years of TTC, so why should this?  And then I tell myself not to think like that because the embryo will think I don't want it and not attach.  Because I am crazy.

@wifeinraleigh28 - I'll be thinking of you tomorrow!  I'll help keep you sane if you help keep me sane, ok?  Lol.

@SaphireSweetie88 - Good for you making the call to switch if you felt uncomfortable :)  I think it is better to see an RE for this anyway.

@harleyquinn0621 - Welcome back! and it is so exciting that you are going through the training to be foster parents!  I have always wanted to do that, but since right now I am taking care of my disabled mom it probably wouldn't be the best idea.

@ReesaAnne16 - Sorry to hear about your BFN.  *hugs*

@Bababatty - I hate having to do the collection at home.  We had to do that with our last IUI, because the lab did not have any time available there the day of the procedure. But the lab is in the next city, about a 25 minute drive under normal circumstances, and this was at rush hour, so we got there right after the hour.  Then I had to drive with the sample (which I didn't know until I got there that it was ok to hold between my boobs, so I drove with one hand while trying to make sure it stayed upright)  another 20 minutes to the hospital where the RE is.  Ugh!  I thought I was going insane.  And we had the same problem you did too, we had (I think) 2.8 mil sperm in the specimen.  It was the lowest out of all three IUIs we did, and it was after that that we decided to move on to IVF.

    TTC since 2011

Thanks. We're not at the point of seeing an RE (yet). DH and I are still trying to figure out what / if anything is going on with me / my body. Once we figure that out, we can see what our next step(s) will be.

Try not to let yourself get defeated (I know it's hard). I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. 75% - 80% seems good to me as well. Keep us posted :)

@starlitfae Lots of positive thoughts to you! I completely understand how hard it is to keep up hope, especially when you don't want to be disappointed. It sounds like some pretty good odds; I'm rooting for you!

Also, ugh to the home collection. That sounds super stressful. We at least only had one destination, and a cab driving us. Still never doing that again. It's really heartening so hear that you got some really strong embryos, even when the count was previously low.

@PoeMasque That all sounds logical to me. I'm always interested in others' protocols and the reasoning behind them. I think knowing all the options can make you a stronger advocate for yourself. FX for your IUI!

@worldtravler0522 I wouldn't if I had a choice but the only other person around I could ask is my mom. She would do it, but since her stroke she has problems with her hands, so there is no guarantee it would go in, or go in the right spot.  I'm not looking forward to it.  I'll probably do it on my thigh.

But hey, on the bright side it would mean that the transfer was successful, so it'll be worth it
