I finally remembered what I wanted to post! I went to see Adele in concert this past weekend. It was AMAZING. I knew she'd be great but in terms of putting on a show, I wasn't sure what to expect (for reference, the best concert I've ever been to is Justin Timberlake which is obviously a bit different). But it was sooooo much better than I expected. I love her more now!
I've been thinking a lot this morning about how much the 1st trimester blows...there is so much anxiety, feeling like crap/not yourself, uncertainty...and you really can't talk about it or share it with anyone. I'd like to fast forward 6 more weeks and be outta this mess!
In related news, my mother in law is staying with us from out of town and we had not told her about the pregnancy. Apparently, the guest bathroom was out of floss, so she popped up to our bathroom (without asking) to look for some. She definitely rummaged around in one of my drawers which contained a positive pregnancy test (I have NO IDEA how that one didn't get thrown away with the rest), because that's where she found some spare floss. So, we decided to just tell her and she acted surprised but I am totally sure she saw it. Oh well...it's our second so people aren't really THAT surprised anyway, I suppose. :-)
it's my husband's birthday on wednesday... we always make a big deal about birthdays and I want to celebrate him but also, I don't have any energy to think of anything special/make it happen. Hopefully i'll pull it together by then!!!
This exhaustion is no joke! I was basically a lump on the couch almost all weekend, and even cut a trip to Target short because I was just so tired. And now here I am at work trying not to fall asleep at my desk. I don't remember being this exhausted last time. Maybe that's because I was just so sick last time that I didn't even notice any of the other crappy symptoms of first trimester.
@Kipperoo sorry about having to spill the beans earlier than you wished because a test was discovered. I have a bunch of tests (cheapie wondfos through amazon) lined up on my dresser. For each pregnancy I've had a stash of these and I've liked to test every day for a few days, and then every few days after that point in order to see if I'm "still pregnant" and if the line is getting darker. Anyhow, I didn't think anything of it, but DH realized that they were out while the cleaners came last week. So they probably know, if they knew what the heck those are (they're not the typical pregnancy test encased in plastic, but they do have "HCG" written on them.)
@kipperoo, that sucks that your MIL probably found out before you told her. My mom would've probably pretended she didn't see but my MIL would've come out with pee stick in hand and asked us why we didn't tell her the minute we found out. I ended up telling my parents last week spur of the moment because my a neighbor of my parents has a son who is about to have a baby and she was asking if I had anything I wanted to get rid of. My parents were pestering me about giving up stuff and then said that they were going to offer her stuff that they had so I just came out and told them not to do it because they're going to need it in May. Not exactly how I would've liked to tell them but my family is really not in to big announcements so it was fine.
Sorry for the early announcing ladies! I came so close to spilling the beans to my parents this weekend. They were in town for the day and we were having lunch and my mom wanted to know why the crib was still intact in the spare bedroom (We had just moved DS to his toddler bed and moved the crib to the other room for now). She was like, "is there something you want to tell me?" I was like...uhhh...NO! Thank goodness she wasn't looking at me, b/c I'm pretty sure I had a huge grin on my face. Luckily they brushed it off. In actuality when we moved the crib in, we weren't pregnant at the time, and we just slid it, was just more for convenience. This week is my DD's birthday! So looking forward to doing something fun with her this week, and then her birthday party is this weekend, so I'm in party planning mode! It will be an ice cream party and I think I am more excited about it than her!
Hopefully this week will be pretty low key - had first appt last week, but dr couldn't see anything on u/s so they told me to come back in today for a 2nd round of betas. First hcg was 1352, so let's hope it's increasing. They were going off LMP which puts me at 6 weeks, but it's really more like 5 (I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow).
Other than that, DH is headed out of town tomorrow and Wednesday - boo. It always sucks when he's not here - especially since I've been so tired! It may be takeout for 2 nights lol.
@hartmich Nothing fun over the weekend sadly enough A lot of resting and grading papers..
@kipperoo That sucks about having to tell sooner than you planned... DH is chomping at the bit to tell someone, and I feel bad asking him to wait just a bit longer, but I'd at least like to see a heartbeat.
@tresgatos My family isn't big on overly huge announcements or fanfare either - but I think we are going to drive to see my parents and ILs (they live int he same city about 5 hrs away) and tell them face to face. It's our first so I know they're gonna be excited..
@Kipperoo I'm with you on the anxiety piece. We are excited but really cautiously optimistic. Sorry for "announcing" to your MIL sooner than you wanted.
@hezzer78 I wish I could have an US now. I'm not seeing a nurse practitioner until Sept. 29th. I'm 5 weeks and 1 day. They said the OB would do a scan at 10 weeks.

I was on the S14 BMB and we were all watching this go down. A lot of popcorn GIFs went on from our board lol. I think we have a great bunch of ladies on here so far though, and still more to find out they're pregnant!
TLDR: A person catfished July14 for over a year. She shared pictures of someone else and someone else's kids and passed them off as her own.
I was in the July 14 BMB and she was very active. I never suspected anything at all. When it all came to light, many where shocked and I remember being thankful about limiting the personal information.
I was in July 14 also! I was completely shocked, sadly the board was never the same after that. This go around, I am very cautious of person info. This "catfish" was so convincing and posted daily.
Lol I seriously had pizza & mozzarella sticks delivered to work. Now, I'm chomping on this amazing organic coconut bliss chocolate chip cookie "ice cream." Do I feel guilty? No. Do I feel like a piggie? Yes!
@mrsrep123 OMG nothing sounds that good lately, but mozzarella sticks sound AMAZING.
You guys, I'm listening to the radio and they're having women call in who didn't know they were pregnant until much later than usual. I am SO jealous. Can you imagine? They get to skip all this freakin' anxiety.
I think I'd prefer to have the anxiety than worry about all the things that I may have done while I didn't know I was pregnant. Just all the wine and caffeine alone would make me feel guilty.
@mcvgal That's a good point. I had a friend who didn't realize she was pregnant until 13 weeks and was taking Adderall at the time. Her doctors weren't concerned though!
That sounds so good! And its organic so then it's totally fine! With both my kids I gained about 60 lbs so I'm trying so hard to be good now. Only 35 weeks left to go!
Ladies, thanks for not making me feel so bad! About a month ago, before knowing about this pregnancy, we started to eat a vegetarian diet. It's been great! Yesterday, I just wanted some good 'ol grease... Lol.
@flychick I gained 40 lbs with my first pregnancy (doctor said to gain 35-45 lbs). I lost it all but gained 10 lbs as we were selling our house and looking for another (all that eating out...ugh). Good luck to us all this round for gaining healthy amounts!

I say eat what you can when you can. My appetite is pretty much non existent right now so if I'm hungry for something I eat it. During my last pregnancy my dr said the same thing, he would rather I eat ice cream for dinner than nothing at all!
With my first I gained 85 lbs, of course I was 21 and very skinny to begin with. This time at 7 weeks I have already put on 5 lbs. It's like my metabolism naps the entire time I am pregnant. I am also convinced that if I could just poop regularly then I wouldnt have gained any.... sigh
So I never had cravings with my daughter's pregnancy, I just hated the idea of all foods and had to find things I could possibly make myself eat. but thanks to @mrsrep123 I am CRAVING some dag on cheese sticks. OH MY GOSH that sounds so good! I gained 55 lbs with my daughter and unfortunately still need to loose about 15 of it. I take after my mom with pregnancies and she gained 70 both times. I don't know why we gain so much but i'm hping to gain less this time.
@Jkp7749 happy birthday to your husband! My H's birthday was yesterday and I was in the same boat with being tired. Luckily he is a little under the weather so he was happy with me just making a special dinner at home. And by special dinner I mean nachos and a super easy Oreo/m&m brownie thing. We were done and relaxing on the couch by 8:30. So maybe something quick and easy but still different and special? Good luck!

I'm annoyed that the bump app doesn't send me notification when I've been tagged...can I fix this??
I don't know, but I'm in the same boat! I missed a ton of stuff by using the app. I signed on from my ipad yesterday and saw all this stuff I had been tagged in.
Not sure if I can post this here or if I should start another thread, but any of you ladies having slow to double hcg numbers?
I tested on Thursday it was 1352 and then on Monday. I got the results from monday today and it's 1913. That's a 41% increase in 4 days.I'm 6w. I'm not having painful/frequent cramping or bleeding... anyone have hcg numbers that just take a while to get started?
I've got a call in to my dr to hopefully schedule another appt or ultrasound..

Wow, that was so awesome. Lol. I spent a couple hours yesterday (when I was not yet authorized to post in the forums hahah) reading this and that was so satisfying. What a twist and a complete resolution. Some serious detective work going on there. (Since I was lurking not by choice for a couple of days i'm now binge replying to the posts I've meant to reply to.)
I was a regular at a chat some years ago and there were a bunch of creeps and fake identities there (including the Completely Made Up Dying People) but that was going on for so long in TB, amazing.
Count me in as one who needs to be on the lookout for excessive weight gain during pregnancy. For #1 I gained probably 35-40, and said to myself at the time that I would do better the next pregnancy (I remember being just right on the boarder of acceptable gain, but maybe a bit over.) I lost the weight quickly and was fit and it really wasn't a problem. Second time around I gained 40-50. I did lose the weight, but for several months post-partum I wore maternity clothes. Breastfeeding and a generous maternity leave during which I could take a post-partum fitness class helped me lose the weight.
This time around I think I'm off to a great start, for what it's worth! This past year I lost a lot of weight after having let it creep up in a bad way. Then just recently I had started to gain a bit of it back. But with the onset of this pregnancy, I obviously stopped drinking and I also realized that my body was craving fruit and vegetables, and didn't really want anything to do with processed sugars. (I'm normally addicted to sweets.) So oddly enough, I lost a few pounds, and not due to nausea or anything! I'm feeling pretty healthy now and I hope that these cravings hold up the rest of the pregnancy!
On my mind this week: helping "MIL" (SO and I are not married, but we've been together 6 yrs, so his parents are pretty much my inlaws) with all of her final wedding planning details without giving away that I'm pregnant. My SO wants to announce the surprise at the end of his toast at the wedding. The wedding is the 24th. MIL has encouraged us to have kids for a while now, so hopefully it will add to her day and not "steal the spotlight". I worry about that, but SO thinks its fine and she's his mom...
