So DS brought Hand, Foot & Mouth disease home from daycare. Now I've got it. My hands and feet are so itchy and it hurts to walk. So far my face is still looking normal!
@allybadry that's awful! We got it in our house this past spring. My DD had the most bumps but didn't seem bothered by it. I on the other hand was a total baby. It hurt! You have my sympathies
DHs family is having a fit on FB because we took our son to pride. There were inflatables, games, dancing, and you get candy at the parade. Why wouldn't we go? Oh right, they believe LGBTQ people are evil.
@ArchyFlores I'm not always convinced a lot of pride events are family friendly (there always seems to be a heck of a lot of unnecessary sexuality) but hey to each their own. Supporting equality is never a bad thing and I trust parents to censor as they deem appropriate. Sorry, your in-laws are having a fit, and on FB to boot!
PS- who would ever turn down free candy?... I'm mean, assuming its not coming from some guy in a big white van or a clown in the forest...
Pride here has family friendly events during the day geared to the families of our LGBTQ population and allies. It's basically what you would see in any Midwestern fair, except with rainbow flags everywhere, and no fire and brimstone church yelling about the evils of the gays.
In any case, you're right: I wouldn't take him to some random's city pride without knowing if it was family friendly or not and neither would my lesbian and gay friends with little kids.
@ ArchyFlores I can completely relate to you! My sister is a very outgoing member of the LGBT community, and my husband and I will attend pride events with her and he SO, but instead of having an adult conversation about the types of events we go to (like Pride fest, etc.), I would just see passive-aggressive anti-LGBT posts from my MIL on facebook LOL.
