Now for the girl name.. we are torn!

We have always loved and pictured our next DD to be Abigail Rosalie aka Abby Rose. Most of the time just Abby. Sister is Harper Isabella, so I love how the syllables and style match. But we also really love Mila, and how it's more different and not super popular. (FWIW, no one I know around here has a young daughter named Abby; I know several my age.) I'm worried about name regret with either, wishing I had picked the other. DS is Max.. the alliteration does not bother me, I like it... but adding Emilia for a variation.

So with all of that.... which name should I choose?

  • I voted for the first one, but I do think it's a bit of a mouthful. Abigail Rose (nn Abby Rose) I think sounds GREAT!

    Good luck!

Totally agree. I think it is a really pretty sounding name.
  • I picked Emilia Rose. It has more options nn wise and I just really like it. I know you say Abigail isn't that popular where you currently are but I feel like in general if I yelled Abby Rose out in a group of girls under 7 at least a handful would turn around. It's a pretty popular combo so I feel like might be something you later regret.

  • It was tough for me to decide between Abigail and Emilia honestly. I really like both, but chose Emilia because I prefer the nn Mila to Abby and I also think that it goes better with Harper.
  • @bbiutmcph I do agree. Overall, Abigail a very popular name #7 in the US and my state. So that and just feeling "common" is my only/big turnoff.

And we would be using Mila/Millie which I adore and is definitely different than anyone I know or have heard of IRL...but Emma is #1, Mia #6, Emily #8 and Amelia #12....all similar.

  • I don't think Rosalie flows all that well with any of those names. If you decided to go with Rose as the MN, I think Abigail Rose is the best.

  • Voted Abigail/Abby.

Every 3rd post on this board is proposing the name Emilia, bored of it. How many times do you want people asking "Amelia? Wait, how do you spell it? With an E?" It's a legit name but spelling confusion + frequently popping up everywhere = pass.
  • ^eh. We have an Emilia who is one now and that really hasn't been an issue. Some people say "Emilia with an A or E?" If you can handle answering "E" here and there I think you'll be just fine. :) no one has seemed confused by her spelling so I wouldn't let that deter you. It's a beautiful name!
  • Thanks everyone. I love both names and hope it's an easy choice at the hospital, IF it's a girl. I'm glad to see Abigail/Abby is still well received. I was worried about it being too plain.

  • I love Abigail Rose. Rosalie seems too much for my taste. I think/hope you'll love the name you always pictured, without regrets!
