Middle name for Goldie?

We are TG and I think we've reached agreement on Goldie for a girl.  (We also like Millie.)  What's a good middle name?  We have really no limitations/requirements.  Our last name is two syllables starting with a B, think "Boswick."  One option that I like is Goldie Isabelle.  Other ideas?

Re: Middle name for Goldie?

  • Hmm. Id definitely stick classic for the middle.  Nothing cutesy, or else she's a nursery rhyme.

    Goldie Adeline
    Goldie Bernice
    Goldie Victoria
    Goldie Harriet
    Goldie Lenore
    Goldie Renee
    Goldie Olivia
    Goldie Catherine

    .......

    Goldie Hawn.

    Sorry,  had too.

That said, I think Goldie is very nicknamey and prefer Mille, though it's also pretty  nicknamey

  • I think Isabelle is a good idea.  Goldie sounds sort of childish to me, so it might be nice for her to have a more "grown up" sounding middle name for her to go by if she chooses.
  • I agree with @bbiutmcph that Marigold would be a good name with a NN of Goldie. Otherwise I prefer Millie, although I think Millie is also a NN, for Mildred.

  • Goldie Brooke
    Goldie Pearl
    Goldie Faye
    Goldie Camille
    Goldie Diane

(Millie is a great choice if you decide to go with that)

    Or Millicent

    Or Amelia/Emilia

    Or Camille/Camilla

Or about 10 other names, though it does become more of a stretch.

ButI do think a little Millicent would be bad ass adorable.

I agree to stick to a rather traditional mm with Goldie. Personally I find it very nicknamey though. I would consider Marigold nn Goldie.

    This. Completely agree.
  • not much goes with goldie.....maybe hawn?
    j/k

  • Just have to say that Goldie feels a bit like you let a 3-year-old name the baby, or you named the baby after a goldfish...I strongly prefer Millie.

    Millie Rose
    Millie Claire
    Millie Pearl
    Millie Mae
    Millie Dawn
    Millie Olivia
    Millie Joanne
    Millie Kate

Or if you like Isabelle, maybe put that as the fn and call her by nn Goldie: Isabelle Goldie, or Millie Gold?
  • Irene. Also I love Goldie!
  • If you go with Goldie, how about Goldie Louise?
But I do think you (and eventually your child) will be asked about Goldie Hawn and/or if she was named after a goldfish frequently. That would get annoying over the years.

  • Can I ask why you like Goldie?
  • Goldie is a guilty pleasure name for me. I love it.

  • Goldie is a guilty pleasure for me!!! I love it. It is very NNish. She would need a no frills MN incase she hates Goldie when she's older. I hate Merigold, TBH. Oddly, I also don't like Millie.

Goldie Elizabeth - I love this combo!
    Goldie Maddison
    Goldie Addison
    Goldie Christine
    Goldie Michelle
Goldie Charlotte - Second favorite combo!

The only thing about Goldie is it kind of falls under the 'Star, Princess, Queen, Saint, Blue' umbrella for me! I'm sorry. I'm being honest but it's still a guilty pleasure for me.

  • Thanks for all the responses.  I don't know what it is about Goldie that I like.  Maybe I'm already over it.  We get on a kick where I think I found "the one" and then I hate it the next day.  I am so crazy picky about girls names and DH is even worse.  I agree that it is nicknamey, but I think that aspect is ok.  I don't find it childish, though.  I know a few Goldies in real life and they are all older Jewish women.  Ugh, it doesn't feel right and neither does Millie.  The search continues.
  • Along the nick-namey lines, what about: Nella, Maggie, Molly, Bea, Josie, Pippa, Poppy, Liv, Tessa

Good luck! Luckily we had a son because my husband and I are so overly picky about girl names!! Heaven help us if we ever have to actually pick out a girl name.

I actually really like Goldie as a NN.  For some reason, Gwendolyn came to mind as a formal name.

If neither feels right I'd keep looking. I will say that I've liked Marigold recently due to Downton Abbey.  Sounds like your style might be an old fashioned name with a unique NN opportunity. Suggesting: Sylvia, Idella, Cordelia, Henrietta, Magnolia, Beatrice, Gwendolyn, Estella, Rosalind, Roxanne, Mirabelle, Theodora, Miriam, Marceline, Wendy.
