I had a thousand things in my Carter's shopping cart and did not feel the need to check them out just yet.
Well several items have gone out of stock overnight so you can just imagine my face when I saw my cart and half the things on there I no longer could get!
It fueled me to clean up my cart and check them out ASAP.
Went on a Target run today and J had a major meltdown 2 minutes into it. This further supports my theory that he's 100% a mini version of DH and inherited nothing from me. How do you not love Target?!
I haven't been on much lately but thought I'd share that after a 98-day NICU stay, we are home! Now we get to do all the normal newborn stuff, even though I technically have a 3-month old, which is surreal.

Yayyy @bananers!! Congratulations, so happy to hear this!
@Bookhousegirl you got this! I was terrified of my first day alone too and continue to be terrified to be alone for long periods with both children. It wasn't so bad. DS gets out of sorts when his routine is thrown off, so he continues to go to daycare during the week but weekends my DH is usually busy doing something so it's just the 2 kiddo's and myself. We're still transitioning, as I now try to find the best way to teach DS that it's not appropriate to hit, bite or kick mommy when he's mad (generally when DD is nursing), lol.

@bananers I'm so happy for you! I started tearing up reading your blog about the big day. Hopefully he's sleeping and eating well!
@Bookhousegirl How did it go?! Yesterday I took both kids to the grocery store (by myself!) to get cupcakes for my mom. I don't think I'll be making that mistake again anytime soon.
@kriley602774@ashleybaker712 Well, I didn't cry for the first 3 weeks of DS2's life and now I've already cried 3x's today (2 of which were before DH even left for work). Once I got things moving for the day, though, it got better. It's a whole new level of challenging that's definitely going to take some time to get used to. I just keep reminding myself that this will become the new normal eventually and it will get easier. It does solidify the fact that I am really happy I work part time, and would probably lose my mind if I was a SAHM full time.
@Bookhousegirl I'm not cut out for being a SAHM either. I am always amazed at the patience and stamina of parents who can stay home with their kids all day everyday. Yesterday we had DD1 and 2 home all day for the very first time and I was so incredibly exhausted and sore, even though there were two parents at home all day.
I'm sure you are doing great and will quickly find a routine/groove that works for you.
Thank you ladies for making me feel better about realizing how not cut out I am to be a sahm! Yesterday was 4? 5? Days pp and I was alone. I loved the time with the kiddos but I really missed adult interaction!!! I am definitely the type who needs structure and a schedule (and a reason to get dressed.)
Google can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Right now though, damn...Google's my smart best friend:
Just knows what I meant to ask as I was nursing. Makes my life so much easier and Google never judges me for misspelling even the easiest words to spell.
@sbelle474 I think it depends on your family. We got a big comfy rocking recliner because DH stayed home with DD1 2-3 times a week, so we knew he would be using it too. I haven't regretted it-- it is a great chair for nursing and story time and now that DD2 is here, DD1 can sit in the chair with me while I am nursing/cuddling DD2.
@sbelle474 We got a rocker recliner from Big Lots for about $250 and it's super comfortable. If you have one nearby, I'd recommend checking there first.
@sbelle474 we actually bought a Lazy-Boy rocker that reclines. It was a big purchase but it can/will go in the living once we are done with it in the nursery. It will be " My chair". I've slept in it a couple periods so far and love it.
34 Mother of 4 year old and 2 Labs. Happily Married to my Hubs of 6 years.
I craved chocolate cake but decided to have a banana with nutella instead. I even sprinkled it with flax seeds so I can feel better about my choice of snack.
After I was done, I went back to the pantry and took a spoonful of just nutella straight into my mouth.
Yeah, it was a foodgasm experience for sure.
I'd be surprised if my period didn't come within a week.
I ate an entire box of Junior Mints today, and then hid the empty box from my husband. I haven't had candy since before getting pregnant. #teamperiodontheway
Ladies, would you recommend a typical glider nursery chair or bite the bullet and get a rocking recliner?
I got a recliner which came in handy when DS1 was having some nightime issues (either separation anxiety or something) and needed me in his room all night
I haven't been on the board in so long! It's been pretty rare now that DS is here for me to have both hands free to type anything... and the energy and focus to do so. I've been lurking occasionally. It's so fun to see more and more of us having our babies. We have settled into a bit more of a groove and I look forward to betting back on the board and comparing notes on baby stuff with everyone.

I've mentioned before that I planned to quit my job during maternity leave as DH and I are moving closer to family and to a city that has better job opportunities and gets me out of the journalism industry. Well today I get a call and I was laid off! The newspaper I work for laid off our entire department as it's transitioning to using design hubs just like the rest of the country did a while ago. I still get my leave and a severance package. So whatever. So glad to be free of newspapers for life!
@Bookhousegirl hope your first day with both kids went well! My first day alone with both kids I started crying when DH walked in the door!
Idk how I am going to go through it with two babies one day. I cried yesterday when DH walked in the door with my double espresso coffee frap Starbucks. Lots of emotions that were soon calmed down by each sip I took of that much needed frap. I handed him the baby as soon as he got home. Hang in there!
Also @JournoGrl23 I read your post with one eye closed and gasped at the first part of it but sighed a huge relief for how this situation actually turned out for the best for you and your fam. Best of luck, mama! How nice it must be that you'll be closer to family
@bananers Best thing I've read all week!! So excited for y'all!!!! That is so amazing! I hope it's incredible!
Edited because I just creeped on your blog for more details @bananers - E is so perfect!! He's so stinking cute!!!! He's so big. Gosh, I cannot believe it's been 98 Days! You look great by the way!
I am officially losing it. Beyond delirious. After nursing DD, I fell asleep and dreamt that our apartment had been infested with tiny flamingo flies (imagine flamingos the size of horseflies). They were eating away our window blinds but we were in a hurry so we decided to leave them be.
Well, I forgot something so I went back to the house but I saw that the light had been turned on in one of our rooms. Definite chill moment right here. I was holding baby A and when I opened the door, some girl who had just given birth was recovering in there. Wtf?
Anyway, I was too caught off guard but I started feeling stings all over my legs and arms. It turns out flamingo flies were biting me! I woke up scratching my leg and there was an actual mosquito flying around!
@Lynnlove28 I survived, so that's a win! I cried about 5 times, but my mom came over in the late afternoon and that helped a ton. My biggest issue is that, with commuting to the city, DH is gone from 7:30am-7:30pm so it's a crazy long day. He's going to talk to them about working at their CT office 1 or 2 days a week, so that he can be home a little earlier some days. Fingers crossed they let him!
Hey ladies! I miss you guys. How is everyone.. Rhea is a week old now... man its hard to find the time to get on here... and this past week with breast feeding has been rough

Hang in there @Katm89! I'm sure you're doing great! Breastfeeding is still challenging for me, but so much better than it was 1 week in. I had no time for TB either with all the feedings, and not having enough hands but that's slowly been improving as well.

Crazy ass dream. I am so over normalcy.
