Heard this one today, was a new one for me.  Anyone heard it before?  Bonus points if you know the gender and can pronounce it!!

Agree with PP. I know it is a female Irish name, however I have no idea how to say it.

I've heard it and recently looked up the pronunciation because a character in a book I am reading is named Aoife.  It's ee-fuh, correct?

Yes. It's an Irish girls name, modern English pronunciation is Eva.

I wish I had the stones to use an old Celtic name like this, but I know we'd be dooming her to an eternity of "Spell that again?!? Your name is WHAT?!?"

Yes it's Irish. Means beauty. Pronounced Ee-fa. I Know several back home in Ireland. Unfortunately it gets mispronounced here. Ay-o-fa being the most common.

I have heard it on a child.  She is about 9 years old, in the US.  Different name, yes but those that matter will learn how to say and spell it correctly.
