Bumpers in the night

Re: Bumpers in the night

  • @F47 I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with night terrors. I hope this phase passes soon.

I just nursed Baby B for what feels like the 100000th time tonight but the sweet snuggles after make it so worth it. There is seriously nothing better!

Thanks, everyone. It's super hard. He's up for the third time tonight, but this time just to use the potty, luckily. I think we'll both be exhausted tomorrow. And DH will be out of town for the day. Yayyyy....

  • @F47 I can't imagine how hard that must be to watch and not fix. FX that the transition goes smoothly for you guys and his night terrors improve soon. Hugs!
  • @F47 I remember you mentioning this before along with other sleep issues. I used to be in a similar boat with DD. I know it's probably not very helpful or what you want to hear, but it's just one of those things that will pass. I really hope it passes soon too and you don't have that stress on your shoulders anymore.
  • So sorry to hear @F47

@OrangeEv Thank you so much for sharing your experience. That does make me feel a lot better. I really suffered from nightmares as a kid (and adult, actually) and it's hard for me to imagine it remembering them because they're so awful. So, when I see him terrified like that, it absolutely breaks my heart. But, relieved to know he doesn't seem to remember them.

  • Anyone else up with their LO?!? Somehow my child has decided the only way he will sleep at night is if he is being held. He naps on his own during the day just fine, but he has to have human contact at night. I mean I love all the cuddles, but I can barely sleep bc I'm so terrified of something happening and we've always been a big stickler about our babies sleeping in their bassinet.

My little man won't sleep in his bassinet yet either. It's maddening.

Oh my gosh it's so frustrating...what do you do with LO? My H works nights so it's not even like I can toggle between the two of us and I still haven't made it to sleeping in my bed yet... I'm sleeping in a chair in our living room

He sleeps on my chest mostly. I make sure I'm propped up with pillows so he can't slip but it's a very restless sleep.

  • For those who have babies who only want to be held to sleep at night... our pack n play bassinet has a vibration feature and it really helps with putting LO down to sleep at night, especially when he is fussy.  Might be something to look into!

The rock & play has the same feature but I'm still scared to let him sleep in it at night. He loves it during the day though.

  • Our halo bassinest also has the vibrate feature and that does really help for us. He settles right down with it on

We bought the model without the vibrating feature. Really sad about that now.

I think our pack n play had the same feature but mysteriously stopped working with DS1. I'll have to look into another one bc I cannot hold this sweet little boy all night. Neither of us is getting great sleep so I need s better option. Thanks!
  • Also I know this is random, but any of you baby wearing mamas out there have any slings or wraps you recommend?!? I had a few different slings with DS1 but never really loved the way they fit.. I think they were just petunia pickle bottom carriers, but I'm thinking I need something once I'm completely healed so I can use my hands and get around during the day. TIA!!!
  • Its 2 30 am and i am about to change my bedsheets because little boys are little boys and sleep deprived mommies aren't so quick at the diaper change. of course i gotta get Robert back to sleep first.
  • This baby is in camp no bassinet too. DD1 was no problem, so I feel like we're starting fresh  :#  At the moment we're letting her sleep in the swing or rock n play while we snooze right by on the couch. We try the transition each night but sleeping baby + mama wins over a bassinet battle.

My sense is that she likes to be snuggled tight, but I can't seem to digure out a swaddle that makes her happy yet. It will come!

  • @christinab0722 With DD, I loved my Maya Wrap sling for around the house and short outings. It has a great padded shoulder and a nice pocket for my phone and other essentials. For longer outings, I had an Ergo - it was a little tougher to get on and off and make adjustments (With all the straps and buckles), but it was better for my hips/back if I knew I would be carrying her for a long time. To be fair, DH was never comfortable using the sling - he felt more secure with the Ergo.

I also think there is an entire baby wearing thread below ... but it's super long so I don't blame you if you don't get through it. ;)
  • @christinab0722 I have been loving my baby k'tan active.  It is incredibly easy to use and LO chills in there for an hour or more at a time and I can clean, eat, get ready, etc.  We also have a lillebaby but haven't used it yet.

@ashleygemini24 I was peed on 4 times yesterday on top of having to change him 3 times in the middle of the night! I can't wait until this damn penis heals so I can start pointing it down! However there isn't much I can do about the pees during diaper changes!

You should look into kushies changing pads- machine washable and waterproof backing. We have like six.

@SuperNerd42- have you tried woombies? They're the only kind mine will tolerate.

@christinab0722- we like the ktan and the kinderpack.
  • @NicholeL16 Are you having a baby???
  • @NoraAurora Thank you!
@AllyTheKid I am, but apparently at a grueling snail speed. I've been having contractions averaging 5 min apart and a min long since midnight, so almost 21 hours. I was at a 4 around 3ish this afternoon and was sent to labor at home for a while.  I need things to pick up soon.
  • Ugh Hoping for things to get moving soon!! @Nichole06

  • Someone please remind me what sleep is again?!?!? I was sitting up with DH tonight watching the World Series, and LO and I totally dozed off for a good bit(bc hello it's late and babies don't sleep around here) well my H wakes me up in excitement to tell me about a some play in the game... Then tells me an hour later that I really should be getting some sleep.

Now its it's time to be sleeping and my brain is going crazy. (Insert tired, exhausted tears)
  • I am 41+1 and the preg-somnia gets worse every night. I'm SO BEYOND EXCITED to something to DO with myself at 3am when this baby is out!!!!! Secretly i wonder of that's mother nature way of preparing me, ha.
  • I'm 36 hours into my induction and still no baby. Had an epidural last night that they tried 4 times to get. I've had a post dural headache before from a spinal tap and am laying here making a plan of attack for after delivery so I can ease the headache without a blood patch. I don't want people going near my spine ever again!
