@schell2013 The SS post was actually first. She then double posted after she was directed there. Either way, super weird! And defensive when given advice...why ask if you aren't open to responses? Ugh
This may have been discussed already but the last two posts on Labor Buddies are funny.
So for random- I always thought (and still think) that the whole thing where if you're carrying high/low = you're having a girl/boy was a dumb wives tale. With DS I carried low from the beginning and I assumed it's just the way my body carries. However now with DD I've carried high the whole time, and it's a dumb thing but I'm like "heyyyy." Is there something to it? Anyone have an insight into whether it's a coincidence or real?
@NoraAurora Well, I carried my daughter high and this little boy is also hanging out high, so either there's no truth to it or I'm a special snowflake.

Oh my bad! I didn't pick up on that part. But yeah she is in SS category for sure.

I kind of loved that SS post. It made me literally LOL. Like, I couldn't believe it was serious.
Completely unrelated: after DS went to sleep I turned on The Holiday. I needed a carefree chick flick. And, good God, Jude Law is so hot in this movie. I'd forgotten. *swoooooon*
The Birth Announcements thread will be filled with people we've never seen before, and there will be about 50 new threads started over PP bleeding, periods, sleep, and breastfeeding by randos mid to late October and afterwards.
warning- I'm about to be a crazy FTM. Please don't judge me lol
Has anyone else set up their swing yet? We set ours up last night just to have it done and I feel like the baby could just fall right out once she gets to wiggling and such. It's like the fabric is stretched so tight over the bars that make up the frame of the seat that there's hardly any bucket to the seat. I realize that's why there are straps (to make sure baby stays in), but I also feel like my friend's swing that she used with her son looks like it has much more of a bucket seat to it.... if that makes any sense. Is that normal and maybe stretches out/gets more bucket like once you use it some?
@annabenanna - I am feeling better. She's cutting flips in there as usual and I haven't had any signs of infection or preterm labor, so I think we're okay. Lord knows I won't be doing that again, though!
@bnsmith85 - I think it does stretch some to form a bucket. The ones I've seen in store are tight like you described, but I was actually noticing how much more "bucket-like" our friend's swing was the other night. They had their baby in May, so it's had time to stretch.
@F47 - I agree that Jude Law is HAWT, but when I see him, I can't help but think of that candid photo of his teeny peeny and all those pubes. The size doesn't bother me so much, but that sea of unruly pubes. I just can't with all that.
Lol I can't wait to sort through irrelevant randos posting about contractions, mucus plugs, etc and asking questions they should ask their doctors to determine if they should go into L&D. If newbs ever could respect board organization, I wonder if making a special thread to draw them into just posting that shit there could work (I'll try to think of an alluring title maybe...)
Anyway, since you can't comment on a closed thread, @Schell2013 lmao at your obvious troll meme...gotta love the original ones, thumbs up!
I dont remember who posted about wanting/needing to fly but I just read (though obviously a long flight) and I don't think I would get on a plane.. haha
@bamacoop I am with you on questioning everything. I like to see what the National Institute of Health has published on whatever medical subject I'm wondering about and make my own opinions from there. I perm my naturally wavy/frizzy hair and LOVE coconut oil in it. It's all I use in my hair besides shampoo and conditioner. I like trying the natural way because on some level it has to be better for us, but I never side-eye modern medicine when I really need it. Like, with my migraines? Um, no, definitely taking drugs. DD has a fever? Alternating Tylenol and Motrin every 2 hours because fevers can kill you. However, you have cough or sore throat? Let's try some honey and tea first and see if that helps; if you're still miserable after that we'll try some pharmaceuticals.
My hubs is also the king of procrastination. Drives me nuts!
@annabenanna My DD hated her arms being swaddled, was always wriggling her arms out of it some how (much to the chagrin of the NICU nurses lol) so we just swaddled her beneath her armpits and she slept with her arms above her head. Was STTN by the time I went back to work at 10 weeks. I didn't fight her and let her sleep however she was comfortable (within reason of course), as long as she was sleeping, I didn't care!
Also, I have heard Upwork is a pretty resource for virtual assistant type of tasks like Word, Excel, Power Point stuff. I'm not sure how much it is to post a job, but I've heard good things from friends working jobs they found on Upwork.
Countdown to Baby H! Mommy to Elizabeth (6/18/09), preemie at 34 weeks
So I'm sure this is a FTM moment, BUT when people come to visit in the hospital, shouldn't they ALL have the TDAP vaccine?? I'm getting a little freaky about my aunts and stuff who I know are not up to date on that shot.

I was just thinking about this too the other day! Because my friends were like "oh I can't wait to visit at the hospital!" and then I thought back to all the times I visited friends who just had babies at the hospital and how I didn't even think twice about TDAP boosters and stuff.

My midwife's office just recommended it for those who are going to be around the baby a lot. SO said his sister had anyone and everyone who was going to be in contact with her new baby get the shot and according to my office, that is overkill-- to each their own though!
I made the girls their big sister kits and they are done! Ross has some amazing prices on stuff.
DH however, won a discussion.... he totes has done this before. He looked at the rattles and was like "are those plastic?" You know the baby will have his head bonked by those rattles. Ugh. He wins, and now I have to go find soft ones.

I was wondering about this, too!
Try not to stress too much about this as long as YOU have gotten the booster, that is the most important thing, and can go a long way to protecting baby from other people. You can only do all that you can do.

*****STUCK IN BOX*****
I wouldn't insist that everyone making a one time visit get the vaccine. You should ask that anyone with any kind of illness stay away and just make sure everyone uses hand sanitizer and you (and baby) will be fine. I would, however ask regular visitors/caregivers get it since we'll be heading into cold season.
@F47 - Yeah, definitely NSFW... or any other time, really. If you wish to go on fully loving and respecting Jude Law, you should just steer clear, altogether!
@CopperBoom86 Noted! I actually don't have a particular fondness for him, except for that movie. Or, maybe it's just that DH has been out of the country for 10 days. haha
bnsmith85 We've set up our swing that we had from our first, our swing had different levels to it where you can adjust the seat from more flat to more of a bucket. I honestly wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been flipping through the instructions manual. Maybe your swing would have something like that too?
SpaceBurger My OB recommended that anyone one who will be in contact with baby quite often to get the TDAP vaccine. Since our parents live 8-10 hours away and likely won't be visiting much during cold and flu season I have said, "if you want to get this" but for my brother who lives in town and is at our home a few times a week I have said "please, get this".
