Had my 36 week today, got my GBS stab and she just did a light swab in my vag and bottom. Very light, barely in there. Nothing crazy. My cervical check looks like I am soft and thinned out (my doc never gives me any numbers, only adjectives), but still mostly closed. His little head is knocking on the door, though (more technical information from my OB). She said I could have the baby tonight or he could hold on for four more weeks... I hope it's sooner rather than later!!!
Had my weekly appt today, BP is still elevated, and did my swab for the GBS test. Have my BPP tomorrow morning and hopefully everything still looks good! We're in the home stretch ladies!

@ab920 That sounds about like my last growth u/s! Baby was measuring 7lbs 3 oz at 34.5 weeks with a big belly and long legs. Head was actually the only thing that measured on track. Glad to hear I'm not alone in the large baby boat! I'm nervous about birth, too, but we've got this!
37 week appointment today. Strep b negative, cervix high and closed.. baby's head still floating, not engaged in pelvis (which makes dilation unlikely). Feels on track to go past due date again but at only 37 weeks I'm fine with no progress. Swelling is out of control, buying some compression socks tomorrow, ob offered to take me off work if I wanted but I'm not ready for that and would lose time with baby. Getting my exercise ball outta the basement tonight to start bouncing and try to encourage babe to head south!
I had my 37 week appt today. Everything looked good. GBS was negative. I was "about 1/2 cm" dilated last Friday and she said that today I was a "loose 1cm". So I guess that's progress but not much at all. I go back next Tuesday and I'm hoping to have made more progress (or gone into labor on my own!).

I had my 36 week appt yesterday at 36w4d, and apparently I'm 1 cm dilated and my cervix is "very soft". All these Braxton hicks contractions are at least getting something started down there. I also found out that I'm GBS positive.
Had one of my 38wk appts(been having 2x wk appts since 36wks). LO wasn't cooperating for the nst again. Her heart rate won't do the fluctuations they want to see. We've been having this problem since 35wks, so my OB decided that we should schedule an induction for Sunday night. I'll be 38wk3d by then. Can't believe she'll be here by Monday.
Loved it for support @COmama87 sorry that baby isn't responding as the doctor would like. But yay for baby early next week! Good luck - I hope it all goes smoothly!
We have stressful NSTs too, @COmama87, but so far have been able to get what we need to keep baby girl cooking. But everytime I go in, I realize we could get the news that it's time for her to come. I'm only 36 weeks though (We've been doing twice weekly NSTs since 32 weeks). I'm sorry that therebus stress behind the induction date, but so exciting that you get to meet your babe soon!!!
Sporty1216 sorry you've had stressfull NST's also. We've been doing a lot of bpp's too and Friday she got an 8/8 but my OB just can't figure out what her deal is with nst's. Thankfully she's also measuring 2 wks ahead and my OB believes it should be a smooth induction. Hope your LO continues to cooperate and bake til she is ready.
Just had my almost 34 week apt! Everything is good, baby is head down! I know she can flip, but DD1 was never head down until one of my last appointments. Scheduled another appointment for 2 weeks, and then weekly after that. Got all of those scheduled, so shit got real!!
Just got back from my 38 week appointment, which included a growth ultrasound because I suddenly started measuring big last week.
The ultrasound confirmed that baby is head down and not giant (yay!) but that I have a ton of amniotic fluid. I had the same with DD but apparently this time it is even worse. OB says there is cause for concern if my water breaks because the force of that much fluid could cause baby to drop very, very quickly. If the umbilical cord can't get out of the way in time, baby could crush it which would result in an emergent c-section. Therefore, per OB's instructions, if my water breaks I am to head to the hospital immediately - as in, don't even call first. So that's kind of crazy and scary! Because of this, I am now a justifiable candidate for an induction but OB says my body has to be "ready" (2-3cm dilated, thinned out, etc) first. It is something she wants to discuss at my next appointment. I'm not super thrilled with the idea of induction if I can avoid it but I'll obviously consider it and take her advice, given the circumstances.
In other news - I started having contractions yesterday evening that lasted until the wee hours of the morning. They were very mild but consistently occurring around 8-10 minutes apart. They were present but inconsistent this morning so I knew it wasn't anything that needed immediate action but I was THRILLED to find out at my appointment that my 10+ hours of contractions were productive. I am now 2cm dilated and starting to thin out! Progress never felt so good.
Had my 37 week appointment today. My blood pressure is fine despite that I'm crazy ballon like and it hurts to step. Baby is measuring 39.5 weeks and am really considering taking up running, but I can't move! I can't bend nor lay on my left or sit comfortably at this point. My nurse told me to give up trying to shave my legs, told her I totally would if I didn't work with teenagers who would be sure to point it out.
im super confused however, last week my docs assistant said I didn't need the strep test and this week the nurse thought that was odd....which freaken way is it?
Side note if if one more person comments on how big I have gotten somebody is getting throat punched.
I'm so mad right now after my appointment I could rip my docs head off and tell them all they are stupid! Sorry about that... Just had to get it off my chest.
So I go in today for my 36 week appointment (I'm only 35w 4d but NBD) and I kinda know what to expect appointment wise at this stage. Let's just say apart from doing the GBS swab nothing went how it's supposed to. I had to swab myself which whatever, be lazy. Then I met my doc for the first time and it's like we went through medical history, c-section vs vaginal delivery, method of b/c after baby.. Etc. shit I've already gone through with my other doc before being transferred and the nurse at my last appointment. I didn't get another ultrasound to check growth or position (she did that one by hand which is dumb because I could've told her how she was positioned) but whatevs. Then she is like ok we will see you back in 2 weeks and start your paperwork. Um excuse me!? So she basically said that if I go into labor after Saturday that she isn't going to stop it and proceed with the c section which I'm fine with. What pisses me off is the last minute nature of everything else. Wasn't given a tour of labor and delivery or even a general idea of where to go if I needed to, and to top it off on the follow up sheet she gave me it stated clearly that I needed to see anesthesia at 36 weeks for scheduled c section patients to do my pre op paperwork. I didn't even catch it until I got home. Gah!
well, 36 wk growth ultrasound on Tuesday showed poor growth since the last scan @ 32 wks and low fluid. So my appt ended with me having a baby! She had a two vessel cord which contributed to the growth problem, but after she was born the doc also said that there "wasn't much Cord to speak of", that it was short and thin and just crappy. So I'm relived she's out. Sorry to hijack this thread but a pic:her blood sugar is low, but otherwise she's doing great.
Had my 38 week check up yesterday. Baby girl is still breech, so I have a c/s scheduled for next Friday, August 26th (39w2d). I can't really wrap my head around choosing her birthday or the fact that I am about to end up with a c/s even with an unremarkable pregnancy/baby. I am slowly coming to terms with it, but the last few weeks have been a difficult road for me emotionally. That isn't to say anything negative about c-sections or any type of birth "experience". I've had a vaginal birth and it wasn't all that. Just nervous about being under the knife (I have never had surgery before) and whatever risks/complications that could arise.
@TheTamedShrew it would be very emotional having a breech baby and having to have a c-section. just focus on the joyful fact that you get to meet your baby and hold her in your arms finally! @CRich15 that sounds very chaotic and unorganized. I would not be happy.
Married 6-1-13 Sebastian 3-11-14 Simon 5-2-15 Baby #3 Due 9-29-16
Just had my 36 week appointment with a growth ultrasound. My son was very large so they wanted to do a growth scan to see how this baby compares and determine if I may need to be induced a bit early to avoid complications. Well she measured at 6lbs 11oz (right around 70th percentile). With a 1/2 lb per week gain, her projected weight at my due date is a full pound less than DS. So she is not large enough for there to be worry or need for intervention. YAY! And while she is head down, she is sunny side up. Hopefully she will rotate in the next few weeks. Maybe I should see if spinning babies has anything about that.
I also had my very non-stabby GBS swab and the doctor checked my cervix. I am about 1 cm dilated an 50% effaced. If I recall correctly, I was 2 cm dilated at 36 weeks with my son and didn't go into labor until 40 weeks. So I am hoping that this one also waits until close to her due date - granted there are multiple times a day I fantasize about being on maternity leave snuggling my baby.
@TamedShrew I too would be nervous in your situation but educating yourself and asking as many questions as possible. Hop over on the c-section thread if you haven't already and don't be afraid to ask questions. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see your LO!
Thank you, ladies, for the supportive comments. I feel like I've learned yet another important parenting lesson through all of this: that every child is unique, and each child will present you with different joys and challenges, and that I am hilarious for thinking I have any control over any of it.
@TheTamedShrew I can totally relate to grieving the change in plans. It was super weird to me to choose DD's bday (we picked my husband's bday. I totally got him a baby for his birthday). I knew the date for a week and had time to process. By process, I mean I cried every day. I cried on the way to the hospital. Happy and sad tears. And felt like I had failed something before I started. Logically I knew that wasn't true, but emotionally... All that to say, sending you big hugs and hoping you find some peace beforehand. My OB told me c-sections are the most common in-patient surgery. Surgery is def scary, but somrhow felt easier since it was planned and not an ECS. Holding her at the end is a pretty good prize for having your middle cut open. Small lagniappe, you know exactly when babe will be in your arms! Again, big hugs, will keep sending flippy vibes your way just in case!
@TheTamedShrew I totally understand that. A good friend of mine had to have an emergency C section with her son and it hit her hard emotionally, feeling like she "failed" at labor. I think it's just in our nature as mommas that we're supposed to do this whole thing "perfectly" even though that doesn't really exist. You'll do great and hooray for meeting your little one so soon!!
@marajay6 yay for great news all around! And also for not being stabbed
Re: Appointments -- I just had my 34 week check up yesterday. Your standard pee, weight, heartbeat, measure and done in 10 min. All good, and growth scan next week!
@TheTamedShrew -- I ended up with an unplanned c-section with my son after a very unremarkable pregnancy so, while I didn't have time to contemplate it in advance, I definitely understand the weirdness of the whole thing. I'm doing a repeat c-section this time (which turns out to be a good thing since baby girl is very stubbornly breech and has been forever) and it is super weird to have chosen her birth date. And I just try not to think too much about the surgery part--I had never had surgery before my c-section either and I find it's still something that I just don't like to think about a lot. I have found that talking with my OB about the procedure and how it will go has helped with my anxiety/nerves. Definitely ask any questions you want to of your OB and others who have had c-sections. My recovery last time wasn't bad and that was after laboring for a long, long time. I hear that planned c-sections have even better recoveries.
I had a growth scan for baby girl today. She is still measuring small (somewhere between 11th and 20th percentile, depending on the algorithm they use) and is estimated to be about 5lbs. 3oz. The MFM said growth is looking good and he wants her to stay put as long as possible, so that was encouraging. It's a whole new experience for me since my LO was huge, but I love that my MFM keeps saying that if he could choose what size babies were, this size would be what he would choose. NST tomorrow and then just 5 more appointments until baby day!
I had my 37 week appointment this morning and my BP shot up 30 points. <sigh> I had pre-e with my first, and my OB is certain this is the beginning of it again based on blood work. I developed it a little earlier last time (34 weeks) and we've been careful to watch for it, but I really thought I was in the clear once I hit 36 weeks. Nope, nope, nope. I forgot how it could all change so suddenly, just as it did with DS. So just like that, we're having a baby! I got in Monday for an induction. I'll be 38 weeks on the nose by then, so I'm okay with this, but still a bit unprepared. I also have GD and was expecting a possible early induction, just not this early!
Just had my 34 week appt (at 33+6) and everything's looking good! No swabbing today like they told me there would be, instead they're doing it two weeks from now. She did tell me that what I was feeling the other night was probably contractions, but nothing to worry her about early labor, etc. So I'm feeling good! And of course, baby girl started moving a ton as soon as I got there, so worries from this morning about little movement were gone. Good appt all around. Fundal height is measuring a little small but MD didn't seem worried so I'm not either!
Growth scan today at 34+2. Both girls are head down! Baby a is measuring 5lb11oz and b is 5lb13oz, so both about 1.5 weeks ahead! Go ladies go! Fluid is awesome, hearts look great, blood flow from placenta is great. Overall they are doing amazeballs.
Just had my 37 week appointment. Everything was looking good on BPP. My fundal height is a little small, but they blamed that on baby being more on my sides. I'm very sad to report that my strep test came back + so there goes laboring @ home. Anyone else come back positive?
I showed up for my 36 week appt today at the midwives' clinic, 3 pm. Turns out they had been expecting me at 10 am, AND I hadn't updated them with my new phone number so they tried to call and couldn't get me (we recently moved) AND they had emailed me and I hadn't checked. It was so ridiculous I felt horribly embarrassed and just wanted to collapse in a puddle of tears. (Stupid hormones!). It felt like the end of the world - I'm sure I'm not the first or last to mix up an appointment time, but at the time it felt like this BIG failure.
They squeezed me in between others for a super quick check, and thankfully all was well in terms of numbers, etc. And my husband was there so we scheduled my remaining appointments and had HIM put them into the calendar so I couldn't get the times wrong!
I had my 36 week appointment and an NST this afternoon. NST went great. Got stabbed/swabbed for GBS (it was actually so light of a swab I wondered if she got the right area). Everything was good at the appointment, and we discussed my induction in more detail. Also, just realized I forgot to ask about the flu shot. Will have to ask next week!

5 lbs is the goal. Most hospitals won't let you go home if the baby is any lighter, and car seats are usually certified starting at 5lbs.
Good luck! I hope the safest place for baby remains to be on the inside, but if it's not, 35 weeks is not unheard of.
