I do a lot of small plane flying (it's one of the only ways to get several communities in Alaska) and although I've never really thought twice about it before, I went flying out to a remote lodge last weekend and things got a little scary.
Visibility wasn't great, and small planes don't have the same instruments as air liners so we had to dive down low and follow the river for a bit. All I remember was feeling this heightened sense of responsibility with my son in my lap and my unborn child in my tummy. As visibility got worse and i was listening to the pilot chattering on the radio with other pilots in the area I got more and more nervous.
We were about to turn around when thankfully the wall of fog broke open and we were able to gain altitude again. After that expertinence I think I'll only choose to fly on blue bird, fair weather days for awhile!
Interesting how your sense of safety changes once you have kids.
Re: Crazy things you've done....
Then I ate one everyday, sometimes twice a day, for like two weeks straight.
