Now that we are all well into this whole creating-a-human thing, we know that we are supposed to take care of ourselves. Everyone says 'get a lot of rest, don't overdo it, take it easy, eat healthy, drink a lot of water, etc., etc., etc.,....'
But we all still have lives that we are involved in, and sometimes that means doing something that would make your doctor say 'what were you thinking???'
What have you done this pregnancy that some people would call crazy?
Re: Crazy things you've done....
Let's see, before the BFP I drank almost a whole bottle of wine by myself. I've eaten sushi and cold deli meat (THE HORRORS!). Had a few sips of wine and a sip of some whiskey concoction a friend made. And I lifted a 50lb crate full of books, by myself.

Moving cross county with two days of 12 hour driving has my grandma freaking out.
I'm sure I've done stuff I don't even realize is dumb too.

The craziest things I've done were 1) take a business trip to Germany in the first trimester, and 2) spend a full day unpacking non-stop.
The trip to Germany was mostly crazy because I felt terrible the whole trip. I didn't have full-on MS (i.e. no vomiting, just nausea), but I really felt terrible and angry and crabby the whole trip. Felt like a waste of company money.
The packing thing was mostly crazy cause I over did it. I spent Sunday evening lying in a recliner with terrible muscle aches in my belly. I can't believe that bending is already hard! I don't really look pregnant, but bending is hard!
Mostly I haven't paid attention to any of the food warnings. I'm a rebel, I know. Well, Ashton doesn't appear to be Cromagnon or caveman-like, so I figure he's ok haha.
My "what was I thinking" moment happened this weekend. We live on a farm, and one of our trails had gotten overgrown. Before pregnancy, I could cut limbs with the polesaw for hours at a time, with just a little bit of sorenes the next day. So Friday I polesawed for about an hour, and then Saturday I polesawed again for another hour and half, thinking that I was taking it easy. For the last three days, I feel like I've been hit by a bus! I could barely get up on Sunday and Monday I felt so bad. I think I'm officially done with the polesaw for the rest of this pregnancy.
But yesterday was dedicated to 100% self care after driving to GA and back on Sunday. I had to nap, hydrate, and load up on nutrition yesterday to regain my energy and finally get my headache to pass. I don't like being so tired and puny all the time. I'll take it no question for baby's sake, but it's easy for me to get frustrated with my limitations.
The things I miss most are coffee, lunch meats, and soft cheeses. I've definitely cheated a few times. I probably will again.
I helped lift and screw in drywall on the ceiling of the nursery...and then I did some mudding and taping above my head *gasp* my mom had a sh*t fit when I told her lol

I've been a bit loose with my eating too, after reading books like The Panic-Free Pregnancy and Expecting Better. I've had a little bit of sushi, pink meat. I accidentally ate a sandwich with lunchmeat at H's grandmother's funeral and was a-okay. Knock on wood, but I don't tend to get sick from stuff as it is. That said, I am avoiding the important, scary stuff. (RIP, lox!)
Crazy coming up: H and I are hoping to travel to Norway/Scandinavia when he gets back from his deployment. I'll be in third tri then. We'll see how I handle the flight and all the walking!
Edit: And of course coffee.

DH has let me have sips of his beers, depending on the flavor. This has happened a few times at home, and even when we've been out to eat, too. I miss the summer beers. For him to let me do this is a HUGE deal, as he is concerned with everything I do.
I've had one cold deli meat sandwich, and it was good... ham and swiss from Panera. I could also really go for an Ebert and Gerberts (or Jimmy John's) sub sometime - just make sure NO sprouts for sure. That may be my this week Friday splurge.
I still order my steaks medium.
I've carried my 4YO nephew... he's still pretty light, though. The 7.5YO nephew (he has DS, so he's smaller for that age), I cannot anymore regardless.

@JessCL I was in Europe this summer too - Germany and France. Is it just me, or are the public restrooms awesome over there? You have to pay for a lot of them, which was a little inconvenient making sure we had change at all times, but they were SO CLEAN! I wish we had those here, especially at gas stations and rest stops along the highways. And a lot of them (at least at the gas stations) gave vouchers for your money back that you could spend at the shop!

I've really been craving sushi and after reading this thread, tonight I'm giving in and getting some.
"Lots of the sushi sold in shops is not made at the shop. This type of sushi should be fine to eat, because if a shop or restaurant buys in ready-made sushi, the raw fish used to make it will have been subject to an appropriate freezing treatment."

Same stuff as everyone else really. Had a glass of wine (my first) two weekends ago and it was wonderful...just a little bit less stressed. Of course DS still has needs so I'm picking up and throwing around a 30 lb toddler all day long.
I I tried to carry the crib boxes into the garage when they left them in my driveway because it was drizzling. The boxes were way too heavy and I had some pain for moving them.
