Yes February vacation week for the past few years we have been BURIED in snow. So with my luck (and past super fast delivery) I will be giving birth in a snowstorm in an ambulance heading to the hospital lol
NC is my #1 spot to move to if we ever get out of NJ. Is it everything I've ever read/heard about?
Yes it is! I can really only speak for the Triangle but I love it. We've been here 3 years and I've never regretted it. We've convinced 3 friends/family members to move here and all of them are happy as well! We've been to NJ twice since moving here and while I'll always always love NJ I don't miss it at all.
@silvercamaro77 I love TN's weather. We have 5 months of awful (4 in the summer and 1 in the winter), but the other 7 are spectacular. I mean, October and November here?
@SweetT That's awesome to hear! We've looked into the Charlotte area (because both DH and I are in the mortgage industry, it seems a better fit) but I also like the idea of living in the Triangle because I'd like to be closer to the beach. Well, closer to the beach than we'd be if we lived in Charlotte.
We just didn't know if it looked better on "paper" than in reality but NJ is wearing on me.
I'm trying to prepare myself for winter now that we're in Colorado. Southern California doesn't have winter. It might be in the 60's and I get cold then so I'm going to die this winter.
@Gingersnap that's me too. We just gotta pretend you know? Oh it's October? Oh ok so it's supposed to be crisp and cool, I'll light an apple cinnamon candle and turn the A/C down some more.
I'm aware this is probably more suited to a UO thread, but I love the long winters here. Spring and fall are amazing, and summer is decent except for the wildfires. But winter is the best. There's just something so comfortable about piling on a bunch of blankets and drinking copious amounts of hot cocoa and chai, cuddling with the family. Also the silence after a large snowfall in the middle of the night/very early morning, the cold air in your lungs. The world just has a crisp, clean feeling to it, and I'm glad it lasts as long as it does. But we also have basically no humidity and the temps mostly keep the snow soft and gorgeous. Winters in high-humidity areas are like the dirty, wet, stinky friend of a friend you just can't get far enough away from. Fuuuuck that.
@MrsLittleMac I totally agree with you on this, I LOVE winter. Last year we didn't get any snow and the cold weather didn't last long at all and I was piiissseeeddd. I'm hoping for a long, snowy winter this year.
@Gingersnap all the hugs for you while your baby girl goes through blood work. I hope everything turns out fine and it's just one of those weird viral things. Everyone I know is sick right now. Late summer illnesses can be wild.
@Gingersnap UTI was my gut reaction. They have special diapers for sample collecting? A catheter would be awful. Had a friend go through this same thing with her toddler a month ago. Sounded really familiar with the random high fever spikes.
@homemake I'm in western Montana! Far enough west that we're right in the middle of the mountains, so no awful prairie winds and the blizzards have to fight a bit to reach us. Great skiing, but the valley has a habit of getting inversion problems where smoke and pollution just settle every so often. That's the one thing I dislike.
@Gingersnap I'm so sorry your little girl is going through this, I'm sure she must feel terrible. I know it goes without saying but make sure to take care of you, too! Fevers are scary no matter what, but even moreso right now. All the hugs!
