@Sporty1216 Thanks! As a FTM, all this stuff is new and a little frightening at times. I'm sure everything will be fine and thankfully I'm feeling pretty good these days!
@AnnaS930 It is quiet around here this morning. I totally hear you on the timing. I have 21 more days till my due date but am preparing myself for 28 - 32 or so more in case I go late. I plan to ask my doctor today at what point they will induce. I think the standard here is 41+3 if you haven't started in your own yet but am not sure what she specifically practices.
@geminigirl16 - mine waits until at least 41 weeks and I think bases off of her on-call schedule beyond that because she likes to run her own inductions and see them through - so need a string of a few days on-call. Last time I was scheduled for my induction for 41+4, and ended up going into labor at 41+3. I asked if we would do the same this time and she just said "YUP!" ... I was hoping maybe we could schedule at 40 weeks this time, but totally understand where she's coming from in that 41+ weeks is still in the realm of "term" so might as well let baby stay put.
@AnnaS930 I think it is slow today partially because the facebook group is gaining momentum and there are a few of us having babies or going on leave this week that is making it so quiet!
Me: 32 DH: 31
TTC #2 since January 2018
Baby #1 DD Born 8/25/2016 BFP: 8/11/18 Due: 4/26/18
I cannot get it out of my head that Reese was born at 38w2d which leaves me with about 11 days to go. And I know it's such an irrational thought because this baby will probably be a week late which leaves me with like 493 days to go.
@PSUBecky23 - I also keep thinking that the timing and nature of this delivery will be the same as last time when it can be completely different. Last time I made it all the way to my due date and I just keep assuming that it will be the same this time. I guess that since the experience I had with DS is all I know it is exactly what I expect.
@RG1 my husband persists that he was a "pretty big" baby at less than seven pounds... I'm like, yeah, hopefully our child is "big" like you. Don't be surprised if he's slightly bigger, though. Just throwing it out there. Ha.
Yay for new baby boy and new baby pics @Emiliz5 ! What a beauty.
My random today is I'm SO tired of working but I can't stop! I need to let things go to my coworkers who are surely capable of taking care of my cases in my absence. Surely. Surely?
My family is all for big babies. My mom kept telling me to eat and eat so that baby would be over 8lbs since they're "healthier and sturdier". Yeah, no. She is pretty critical about my weight so I was all huh? But I shut it down quickly.
We deep cleaned our bedroom yesterday! My germophobic nesting kicked in and I wiped down the walls, vacuumed under all the furniture, cleaned the windows, blinds and washed the curtains, and deep cleaned the carpet with DH. Yay for productive!
A crackhead outside of the train station this morning told me that I'm having a girl because I'm carrying high.. I just kept walking but part of me wanted to tell her she was right just to see what kind of reaction I would get? It's the little things that amuse me.
@PSUBecky23 my two previous babies were born at 38wks! Ya never know, it could happen! Of course I'm assuming this one will come at 42wks though too. @RG1 my son was 7lbs even and my in laws said "oh such a big boy!". Ummm? What?
@jas1982 -- today is my first day of maternity leave and I'm obsessively checking work email to see if anyone has questions about the stuff I handed over. What is wrong with me?!!?!
Caught up on the posts from the weekend - congrats to the new babies and moms! Like @AnnaS930 posted, it's 'cooler' for the first time in what feels like months. It feels so much like Fall and I love it! Downside...we're supposed to jump right back to 90+ tomorrow.
Random: I'm jealous of all you mommas-to-be who have already gone off of work. I secretly wish my doctor was like 'on you have pelvic pain...it's completely normal but you shouldn't work with it' and then whala I get to be home baking/getting ready for baby. Alas, I'm pretty sure I'm here till I pop and work is just too hard right now (aka all focus, energy, desire to do anything is gone). Ok...pity party is over.
Speaking of working til the end, are any of you ladies taking any precautions for your workspace? Should I bring in a towel just in case my water breaks?
My random for the day - my coworkers guessed baby stats on our team whiteboard last week. There was one guy who had yet to fill out his estimates so I didn't see the final guesses. I asked another guy on the team to send me a picture of the "final" board. Apparently coworker #1 didn't want to guess (which is fine) so coworker #2 just wrote "N/A" in that column. So the picture comes to me like that. I'm not generally superstitious but I was all like, "What does that mean - no baby!?" (Even though I know that's not really what they meant.) I'm making them change it (at least just erase that column alltogether) so I can have a picture without an "N/A". I'm weird.
@RG1 It must just depend on what your family is used to as to what constitutes a big baby and a little baby. McKenna was 7 lbs 9 oz (which I agree is totally average) and our families thought she was small. We tend to grow them big. And now that Layla is potentially going to be over 9 lbs, they just see that as normal. After having an average 7.5 lb baby, over 9 lbs sounds huge to me!
@SLou24 I had someone do that to me when I was pregnant with McKenna! Only she wasn't a crackhead, just a random old lady, and she said boy. I also wish I'd said something back, but about how we'd be returning a lot of things then because the doctors said it was a girl. But I was too thrown off at the time to respond.
My random... McKenna did the first thing ever that makes me think she might get that I'm pregnant. We were at the grocery store, and she had her baby doll. I asked her if she was going to give baby a kiss, and she kissed my belly instead of the doll! Even if it was a fluke and she doesn't get that a baby is in there, it totally made my day.
@Sbrown721 - I have a towel in my car and an extra pair of shorts and shirt at work, though that was more because I brought some shorts one day to change into after work and kept accidentally leaving them here. I'll probably start keeping a pair of fresh panties and a maxi pad in my purse soon too, just in case I get the bloody show or my water breaks at an unfortunate time.
I'm planning on working from home the week before my due date since my whole office will be in D.C. and I don't want something to ~happen~ when I'm all alone. If I go past my due date, I'll likely try to work from home, then, too, but that really depends on my boss. She's pretty sympathetic to my pregnancy plight, so I don't think it will be an issue.
@Sbrown721 - taking zero precautions.. hopefully someone can spare me a trashbag to put on my car seat if water breaks at work! Ha! I'm in the mindset of E being 10 days past due date and I went on maternity leave a couple days before he was due (since it was Thanksgiving, easy to just go out then), so I can't imagine anything happening at work.
At the same time a part of me hopes that not preparing means that things WILL happen at work and baby won't be past his due date this time. Ya know, like if you don't bring your umbrella you know it's going to pour? That's my hope!
@camichael84 - Emmett loves to kiss my belly when we talk about the baby.. then every once in a while he will say "Dada.. body?" and make my husband lift his shirt so he can kiss his too.. then I just get confused.
Ready or not, these little munchkins are very soon to be BIG SIBLINGS! YAY!!!
Yeah I can't decide! I am so convinced that I'm going to be late and I'm going to go into labor in the middle of the night or on a weekend at home haha. I think everyone working around me is getting nervous. I like the idea of leaving some supplies in my car just in case!
@camichael84 - I have also started to think that DS is starting to understand that there is a baby coming. We bought him a big brother book and tell him all the time that there is a baby sister in my belly. He hugs my belly from time to time and says baby. I can't wait to see how he reacts to having a baby in the house! Hopefully he is gentle to it - he has been getting pretty rough with the cat lately.
@Sbrown721 I was totally neurotic with my "go bag" towards the end of my pregnancy with DD. I had a garbage bag, a towel, hospital information (in case a coworker was taking me and somehow my mouth wasn't working to just tell them verbally...?). I even went so far as to throw a can of soup in there. (Our nurse educator at our birthing class encouraged eating a light meal in early labor so I figured if I went into labor at work, I'd go warm up that can of soup and eat it before I left.) A coworker asked me a couple days later how I planned on warming up the soup...so from then on, I also had a microwaveable container in the bag. At the time, this all made perfect sense to me. Looking back, I was nuts! I definitely didn't do any of that this time, haha!

I seriously laughed at that part. Luckily everyone I work with knows what hospital I'm delivering at and they should all know how to get there because it isn't far from my office.
@marajay6 I also worry about how gentle DD will be! She's very loving and nurturing to her dolls, but she's almost 2, so it's a rough kind of love/nurture. On one hand, I know it'll all be fine, but on the other, I feel bad for DD2 that she has to deal with a rough toddler sister while DD1 got constant attention and gentle cuddles.

I laughed, too. It's funny, but was also a cute FTM thing to do, @JennM205!
@camichael84 and @marajay6 and other with tots who will be about 2 years older.. a friend from my last BMB will have her 2nd when ours turn 2 in December and posted on FB a month ago: "Thanks to all his books on big brothers and all they can do, I'm pretty sure we've convinced [toddler] that he is about to get a big brother. I'm sure that'll work itself out "
Which I thought was just so fantastic.. we really drum up how awesome older siblings are, I wonder how many think that's what they're getting, not becoming
@jas1982 and all those others with families that think your 7-8lb baby was big, my husband was 10.15 at birth... That is a giant baby and probably close to what I'm going to have which is terrifying...
@Sbrown721 not preparing at work at all! Everyone there keeps joking about how I'll go into labor in the middle of an event and I'm just like "well, at least that would be interesting!" I do keep some workout clothes there in general (my gym is at work) so I could always change if I absolutely had to. I think if anything crazy happened at work I'd honestly just über to the hospital, and have DH go home to get my stuff for me!
I started my day today with a 20 minute walk! I feel so accomplished. And we have an infant care basics class tonight. I'm so excited! I know many of you hate Mondays because of work but I always have Mondays off so they're my favorite days ever!

Gah! That size prospect is terrifying! You're super woman!
Hope you are enjoying your Monday! I love running errands at the beginning of the week, everywhere seems quieter.
On the topic of bigger babies, It really bothers me when people refer to my baby (measured 7 pounds at 36 weeks) as "such a huge baby" or something similar. Sorry but no, he is in the 75 percentile so perfectly normal thank you. Not all babies are born tiny at 6-7 pounds... Mine could easily be 9 pounds if he keeps going like he has. I swear I know I should not feel that way but all those comments are making me feel like I did something wrong and it's my fault baby is "too big".

Spent a little too much money on pretty (and largely impractical) stationery, because obviously the cure for the Monday's is to buy pretty-but-unnecessary things.
OB office just called with my blood work results. Everything was normal other than low platelets which they will continue to monitor. I made the mistake of going to Dr. Google for more information.
Isn't it crazy how much you can obsessively imagine how you will go into labor and all the people who won't answer their phones. My second labor went so fast (3.5 hours start to finish) im freaking out that we are going to have to bring the kids to the hospital. I really feel like I'm going to go into labor when my husband is at work. Both have been in the evening/night, but I feel like this one will be different. And all neighbors and family and friends will be busy and working.

@mhilpisch10 I'm right there with you, girl, and totally obsessing over every scenario of how this whole labor thing will go down! It's exhausting. Logically, I know there's no sense in playing out every last detail in my mind over and over. But, somehow, it seems important that I have considered every last possibility and correlating solution. No advice, really...just know you're not alone!
@PSUBecky23 I'll be 38wks Labor Day too, I have hope! Although I want my full paid day off that day, if I'm on leave I won't get it...
It would be so helpful to my maternity leave if I had the baby the weekend before Labor Day because my first week off I have to use PTO for before disability kicks in. Labor Day would mean one less PTO day I'd have to burn that week. Come on, baby, make mama's maternity leave better.
