Thank you! I'm here bare chested anxiously waiting to skin to skin the kid when he gets back. I'm nervous about the after care! I guess a perk of being in the NICU is that they'll help us out as much as we need with diaper change nervousness.
Absolutely! We didn't end up doing skin to skin after because he was all bundled up and we were pretty much waiting to be discharged.. but it has such a great calming effect, great plan!! Our after care was basically just squeezing an absurd amount of vaseline onto/around the tip during each diaper change to keep the diaper from sticking.. like, covered the whole peen and circled it up to make a big ol' dollop, the nurses showed us how, and it worked out great for us. Go Fin go!
Yep--what @AnnaS930 said! We just applied a huge gob of Vaseline to the diaper itself and then sometimes a little glob on the penis too. It was no biggie. And the nurses will absolutely walk you through it. You got this, @mom2adoodle!
@reesaXden that's very exciting! I hope things run smoothly and baby girl comes soon. I know you'll enjoy not being pregnant anymore with such a rough go at it this time and 36w really is great. I'm sure she'll do awesome!
@reesaXden Best of luck and so many well wishes! You're meeting your baby girl today! Eee!
I had my second U/S today to check my placenta, which was too low at my first U/S. It moved! It's plenty high up enough now so there's no worry about having to plan a Cesarean due to obstruction.
LO is measuring 3 days ahead (no biggie, and it will probably change again later, but I was excited about it anyway), and a bit over 5 1/2 lbs. His little hands were covering his face most of the time, but we did manage to get a great u/s photo of his lips and nose. He's got his daddy's nose to be sure.
No more U/S or big tests other that the GBS test at 36 weeks. Then it's just check ups until LO decides to make his debut.
Also, finally called my Insurance company to ask "What the heck?" about the breast pump because I'd been told so many different things. The woman was WONDERFUL and she went over everything with me and it was the easiest process to get one ordered and I just kept wondering to myself why it had to be so confusing originally.
Checking things off the list! Things are getting done! The time is coming closer! I'm super excited but I occasionally the "Le Freak" song starts playing in my head .
@mrsvoorhees we've been joking that @diagonalley is our comrade in arms because of her recent diarrhea/labor scare. Every time one of us gets diarrhea, we think of her story about it and worry that we're in labor
@mom2adoodle Hope all went well with the proceedure. DS1 had that done right before discharge so hopefully the magic word has been brought up??? After care was pretty simple for us...use the tube of petroleum jelly and form an ice cream cone on the tip each change. It healed super fast and DS1 didn't seem uncomfortable at all!

Just wanted to add, it's not in a mean way! I believe her first labor started with diarrhea? Which is very common, apparently. And then she had it again recently.
@MrsVoorhees Apparently diarrhea makes people think of me it's how my early labor presented itself so I think other moms get freaked out when they find themselves in that situation.
@reesaXden, congratulations on baby day! You did great taking care of that baby for 36 weeks and getting to meet your little girl will be such a cool reward!
@mom2adoodle, as the others have said, aftercare is not a big deal. I will say that I was a little taken aback by the appearance of DS's thang after the circ, meaning I was surprised at how red and raw it was. But he never even flinched when we applied the Vaseline and it really did heal very quickly.
I've been absentee for the last 2 days...I'm pretty much having contractions all day and today I lost the plug (I won't say the "m" word following the great RRL tea departure). I swear that every day I wake up, I wonder how these babies haven't just fallen out of me yet. It will not be a surprise when labor starts....it is a surprise that it didn't start sooner with all of these labor-like things going on!

ETA: now I'm off to check the new Target line!
Idk if it's me being overly sensitive due to hormones or what but I keep thinking about how I worded this. I hope I didn't offend anyone! I just meant we know she's had a difficult time with this pregnancy but I should've left it at that. Didn't want to edit it and run though...
After spending 90 minutes waiting to see my OB for a maybe 10 minute appointment, I decided to pull a @seitzy3 and just drive to the nearest cupcake place. I am happy that my pregnancy is more or less going well (she tells me all my symptoms/concerns are normal) but I'm feeling fed up with work & numbs hands and part of me wishes that she would have decided to send me off work a little sooner.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom I don't think anyone would take that negatively! We all know what she's been through and know she's going to feel so much better with her LO on the outside.
@reesaXden Thinking of you and baby today, yay for the epi!
Seriously, all the cupcakes though. No cupcake places on the way home so I'm shoveling chocolate covered raisins down my throat as if that's the same thing
Speaking of loving Fall, I found this framed picture this weekend and I so want to buy it and hang it in my house, but I have no idea where to put it. All the empty wall space in our house is on blue paint, so it doesn't match
Less than one day guys....and you give me so much to catcg up on!
First and foremost to @reesaXden - I'm so excited for you!!! Thoughts and prayers coming your way. Can't wait to see your LO!! You've got this!
@fireflygirl12 - Totally jealous that you were even offered Diflucan! Every time I go on an antibiotic, I request Diflucan in addition since a lovely side effects of diabetes is yeast infections from antibiotics. I asked for one from my OB several weeks ago and he said no. I pouted a little bit.
Having a crap day. First I went to the grocery store, and where most of the things I needed they didn't have, so I had to go to a different more expensive store where the cashier was rude as hell, and as I was trying to stuff my change back in my wallet she says "Move along now, other people are waiting lady". Twat. Halfway through grocery shopping I get a call from the place that's detailing my car interior tomorrow, to ask if I could please drop off the car before 4 pm today. They had originally told me to drop it off by 9 am tomorrow. I told them this and they told me I'd gotten wrong information. Apparently they need the car 12 hours before the appointment so they can do an accurate assessment of what they need to concentrate on... ok.. So my mom came and followed me to the place, loaded all my groceries into her car. But now I'm without a car for 2 days. Awesome. Get home, my bag breaks all over the front entry way, milk everywhere. Eff you universe. I'm trying to lie down for a nap because I now have a pounding headache, and the upstairs neighbours seem to be having an afternoon Monday party and the other neighbours dog is howling constantly because she's always left alone. Eff everyone. I hate Mondays.

I *think* you were the one who was going to a birthing center and was worried this would made you go to a hospital?
if not disregard lol

@marajay6 Thank you! I'm already climbing down from the name anxiety ledge. I tried thinking of other names, but nothing seemed right.
