TTC after 35

Intro - TTC #1 at 42 (TW: loss mentioned)

Hi everyone!  I've been active on the TTGP board for about 7 months.  Recently a bunch of us "AMAers" over there realized that we should be posting over here, too.  I lurked on this board for a while, and it's just as supportive and awesome as TTGP, but not nearly as active.  Hopefully we can help out with that!

My OH and I are pretty late to the TTC game, obviously.  He already has a son, my DSS, who is almost 5, from a previous relationship. We'd love to give him a sibling.  I've been wanting to do this forever, and am happy we are finally trying.  I'm on my 8th cycle, and had a CP in my 6th.  I'm currently working with a "fertility specialist", as opposed to an RE, who essentially specializes in IUI and IVF, but that's where my medical group referred me for testing.

TTC at 42 (43 in October...*sob*) is a somewhat frightening proposition.  I don't feel my age, and am fortunate enough that my body seems to be cooperating in terms of ovulation and regular cycles.  But we have all been freaked out by the statistics.  I'm so grateful there is a community of women here who are in the "geriatric" boat.

Speaking of which, I tend to make a lot of old lady jokes and use Golden Girls and get off my lawn gifs.  Like this one:

I really hope everyone here sees that as a way to cope with the challenges, with humor.

Welcome! I first came here two years ago and the board was super active. It would be great to have all of the wise AMAs back!

I'm one of @aurora1973's AMA besties (hahaha!!!) from over in TTGP. We really want the board to be more active, it's a fabulous group! We get amazing advice and support in TTGP but I sometimes feel as though I have to qualify some of my posts with the phrase "because I'm 40." I think we are all simply looking for women in the same Golden Girls boat!

Sorry a few days late, but welcome @Aurora1973! I'm a bit more active on the TTCAL boards, but would love to see this area pick up. I think because we have a different way of thinking about this, I know I personally don't have that wide-eyed optimism that I may have had had I started TTC in my 20s or early 30s (didn't marry DH until we were 36). Not that that's a bad thing, I think maybe we are all just more realistic? Or am I putting words onto mouths I shouldn't be? ;-)

Hi @amberruka!  I think we have a special kind of old lady realism ;)

I've done a little lurking on the TTCAL board, but haven't posted yet.  There's a lot of lovely ladies over there.

I'm just getting back to posting back here as my husband's been away since May, but keep the geriatric jokes coming! I'll be 42 next month and agree, stats can get scary but humor really helps me try to keep positive!
