...and of course I adore the freshly picked moccasins. We also bought DS teeny tiny neon yellow Nike Frees that he way outgrew before he ever learned to walk. But you can bet your ass those little golden moccasins are on DD's list
I'm obsessed with the Freshly Picked shoes. I am not buying them myself, but I won't complain if someone were to buy them as a gift for me either!
This is how I feel about roughly 80% of the stuff on our registry. I'm super low maintenance, but if someone wants to buy me tiny, expensive baby shoes, I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth!
@NoraAurora, I think they're super cute! But I won't buy them. I barely pay $60 for a pair of shoes for myself. lol. Maybe if I found Freshly Picked at my local TJMaxx for $24.99, then i'll do it.
I will say, I'm dying to get a pair of chucks for this bebe though
I think if you enjoy throwing parties (which I do) then it makes sense to spend your time/money on a big birthday party. It's the same way I felt about wedding planning, so many people say having a big event is a waste of money, but it's your money, you earned it, if you want to spend it on a big blow out event for your friends and family and that's what makes you happy, do it! No different than throwing $$$ on designer purses, or eating out at nice restaurants, etc.
What I *can't* stand, though, is people who throw big events (be it a wedding, baptism, 1st b-day, etc) and then complain the whole time about how stressful it is. It's supposed to be fun! It's not that serious. If you don't like doing it, then don't do it.
Oh man, glitter, camo, Vera, Lilly - after all these months, the claws are finally coming out on O16!!
I used to be ALL Vera - but I've toned it down a bit. I still have a duffel and make up bag and toiletry bag (and likely a few other things), but I've traded in my beloved Vera purses for more simple, plain ones. I do really like alot of her solid color microfiber line - but those suckers are expensive! I can't help but peek in the store whenever I walk by one though!
I also love glitter. I don't really wear it or decorate with it, but I think it's just one of those girl things where I see something glittery and I'm all, "ooh, pretty..."
MY UO is I think yellow cars/trucks are dumb - and I'm yet to meet anyone (or be tailgated by anyone) driving a yellow vehicle that isn't a jerk. (Well, except for one girl who had a yellow VW Beetle, but I feel like she gets a pass since it was Beetle.)
@LMNOBaby LOL!! I have to laugh! I was the girl with a yellow sports car! In my defense it was the year 2000 and I thought I was cool. BUT all the tickets I got showed me how uncool I was when I had to sit in drivers retraining on more than one occasion.
Married 11-11-11 TTC only since Dec 2015. I had some weight to get off. Been working hard in the gym for over a year. BFP 02-15-16 with our first IT'S A BOY!!!
lol, sorry at @sportiegrl1213 ... I can get behind this though process with the yellow cars, @LMNOBaby Of course there are always exceptions, like the beetle girl!

Hehehe - well, you have the privilege of being the first absolute sweetheart I know who drove a yellow car! Plus, it was quite a few years ago - I would have thought I was cool in a yellow sports car back in 2000, too! I think I'm more thinking of the douchey dudes who think they're super cool in their pimped out yellow car or truck but are really just douches.
I am also seriously coveting a Vera Bradley diaper bag so I am all around unpopular lol I could see why someone would hate VB stuff though. I don't carry VB purses for like every day wear, but all my big duffels and travel carry ons are.
@scostel2 I use them for carry-ons as well and will be using one for the hospital. But I don't use them daily.

@sjo_thetwins I also love the way Miss Me jeans and Rock Revival jeans fit and look on me! I am not a fan of rhinestones typically at all, but I do love those jeans. At least the more subtle designs.
I don't like glitter, and I hate camo. Leopard print, or ANY animal pattern I wear specifically to be obnoxious.
I have a Vera wallet that is EVERYTHING! It is the perfect size and holds everything I need and in the order I need it in.
I wear camo to hunt, never as an outfit when I'm not in the woods.
Glitter in moderation is fine but I don't have much in my house.
Rhinestone belts and jeans are just NMS. The Miss Me jeans are cute but they do not fit me at all.
My UO: I'm getting so annoyed at people protesting the RNC. I get it, Trump sucks. I don't like him. I'm not voting for him. However, the RNC meets and holds their convention every election cycle to officially have the nominee. Why are you protesting and causing this many issues that they have had to call in LEO from other states to help control the crowds (both protesters and those going to the convention). Can everyone not just act civilized and let the Republican party officially nominate Donald Trump and then let the Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton next week (same concept). A friend told me that people are protesting because Trump shouldn't be allowed to be the nominee because he's awful and a racist and a bigot (I agree). BUT, if the nomination were taken away from Trump or Hillary simply because they are awful people, you're going to have a lot of pissed off americans because then their voting and due process was stripped from them. We just have to deal with it and if you don't like either nominee (like me) don't vote for either of them and vote third party or write in.
@ibabyloveb87 - no, you're not alone. And it's scary that it was actually that long ago. I feel like I was rocking my flare jeans, singing along to NSYNC and trying to rock Rachel from Friends layers in my hair just a year or two ago!!
I loved Vera purses in college. Now I use the bags and I LOVE my travel organizer, but that's really as far as it goes. I tend to like the patterns that are one color with white. I didn't even think about a diaper bag, but I bet it would be perfect, and my registry may or may not be updated in the next few minutes
I HATE camo. The new school I got transferred to this year is quite redneck and it is rampant there. They just couldn't get why I didn't participate in their camo themed spirit week....
Baby shoes are completely unnecessary, but completely adorable
Some of yall beat me to this, but i love glitter and monograms, but I do draw the line at burlap. I'm definitely not country, but don't mind the southern thing as I went to college in SC. Also, don't confuse being a southerner with being a Republican. Haha!
I don't mind burlap but I don't think I've ever used it for anything. I'm pretty sure I had the only wedding in 2014 within the tri-state area that had no burlap. lol

hehehe - I love burlap! I used it in my wedding centerpieces last year. And we're using it as table runners and some banners at the baby shower!! I keep to mainly accents, but love the rustic-ness of it!

I do too! It just got super popular right around when I got married. My original thought was to have a classy barn wedding and use burlap but we ended up in a Tudor style mansion so I went it another direction.

1. I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but I hate the term "love tits." That's probably based in my not liking the word "tits" as well as the fact that it doesn't tend to make semantic sense to me.
2. I don't understand people who are afraid they can't get through labor. Like, once you're in labor, the baby is going to come out one way or another.

I think this is just that person not articulating what they're trying to say very well. This, coming from a person who is guilty of that more than I care to be. They probably just mean they're scared of labor in general.
I think having a huge blow out 1st birthday party is a waste of money. I don't understand spending all that money when the child won't remember it.
I threw one for my daughter and honestly it felt more like a "I made it through the first year of motherhood" party to me. This baby probably won't get one because I'm lazy now.
I can see that. I definitely think celebrating the making it through the 1st year/ their birthday is important. I just can't understand spending thousands of dollars on the party and make it into a huge production, (we have a friend who is having a circus theme- and is renting popcorn machines/ cotton candy machines/ bounce houses/ ect.)

You'd absolutely hate one of my friends.... he's a surfer/skater/stoner and he always says "Tits!" for when something is cool. "Anna, this cake you baked is tits!" "Dude, the surf break over at that beach in Costa Rica is tits!"
I used to get so annoyed, but now it makes me laugh when I hear him say it...and occasionally find myself using "tits" to describe something awesome as well.
I'm not going to spend thousands on parties but I spent a good $600-700 on my friend's shower most recently and it had very minimal decorations and such... so most of the money was spent on food and alcohol... so I can see how people can spend too much, quickly for a party that's more aimed to entertain the adults at that age.
On the Vera Bradley thing, I never knew what it was until my aunt started managing one. She got my daughter a backpack, lunch bag and coin purse to start kindergarten this year and I think it's cute. She's also getting me a diaper bag, but I picked a plain navy blue one.

We did a first big birthday party and it was great! My group of friends has a lot of kids- we have about 10 now all 3 and under. So the kids had a blast and we had a keg etc! It's basically a parents party. It was a lot of money though because we rented tables and had to purchase tents because it was looking like rain. The tents were a good investment though!
I think shoes are stupid on a baby until they can walk and actually require them.
This!
Have you seen those moccasins that cost $60/pair? Freshly Picked I think is the brand. FB keeps suggesting it to me, and i'm like NO NO NO
Wow I guess I am full of the opposites! I bought a pair for my LO on sale- and love them! But he was starting to walk. I do agree that shoes on babies are dumb but when they start walking I prefer soft sole shoes like Robeez or the Freshly Picked- although I would be hard pressed to buy them full priced.
@serenaxo84 and @bnsmith85 I can see how it's easy to spend that much money when you're buying food and alcohol. I agree a party at that age is more for the adults/ just celebrating so I can see it costing more. I don't judge others for throwing these parties- it's your money/ time. UNLESS like someone said they later complain about the cost or all the work involved with throwing the party. I personally won't be throwing any big blowout parties because I don't enjoy planning big events and I have other things to spend that money on.
Just found this outside of City Hall! I'll be passing it along to FI This discovery came at just the right time... sweet serendipity. I LOOOOOVE these kinds of things, random and fun. Challenge accepted.
I'm late to the thread today, but have to add that I LOVE Vera Bradley! Some of the patterns are way over the top for me, but the designs of the bags are fantastic. I have a few things that I just adore and I've been wanting a VB diaper bag for years. Lol
Vera bradley?? No idea what that is, I'll have to Google it Love glitter and rhinestones in general for arts and crafts. I love to bedazzle cups and goblets for birthday parties.
My UO- pedicures aren't optional. Feet are gross, at least get them painted etc. (totally get doing your own, professional not required) and if they are really chippped, closed toe shoes please.
