I think GMOs do more good than harm and I'm glad scientists engineer new and hardier foods. I certainly like the idea of labeling GMOs but I think it would be a terrible thing to ban them in the us. This is kind if shocking to those who know me since I am kind of crunchy in other ways.
This one is bound to be unpopular! I saved it for today especially.
I don't restrict myself diet wise when pregnant. I eat "carcinogenic" bacon, I eat hotdogs that have nitrates, I don't heat up my lunch meat. Listeria could be in anything I eat. I down eat sushi or unpasteurized cheese anyway. There are so many rules and people need to do what makes them feel comfortable, but more bacon for me.
@liepertsm Me too. DH and I constantly quote The Office! In fact, my UO today was almost this: "If I had a gun with two bullets and I was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice." Cuz, Toby is kind of annoying. And also kind of gross... the way he ogles after Pam long after it's evident she's into Jim.
I didn't know we weren't supposed to eat bacon! Wtf is that nonsense about?! I might actually, legitimately cry if I have to give up bacon too...
You don't need to.

@NurseMama There's a risk with just living. I mean, there are obvious no-nos, like drugs and alcohol, but otherwise - unless you're growing your own veggies/fruits, raising and slaughtering your own meat and fish - you're gambling with just about everything that you don't produce and/or cook yourself. The list of bad foods to eat while pregnant is growing absurdly large.
That said, I'm probably going to still follow most of the list for now, because I'm a pussy. But no judgment to those that aren't!
@dubcompanion We quote it all the time too. It's our go-to Netflix show...I can't even tell you how many times we've watched it. Poor Toby. Sometimes I feel bad for him...then he does something weird and creepy.
My UO is that I experienced WAY TOO MUCH sympathy embarrassment for both Toby and Michael. I found them both endearing and I would squirm every time they had to dialogue.

I am missing most of The Office references because every time my DH plays it, and I agree to watch, I fall asleep. It is the Bob Ross of TV shows for me. And I do find it funny! But for some reason the eyelids get droopy when I watch.
UO: I hate shopping - both for clothing and groceries. Don't get me wrong, I love fashion and food equally but if I can order online, I am always ordering online.
Popular: I don't trust Trump or Clinton... Unpopular: I'm voting for Gary Johnson! Just like I did in 2012!
Totally agree with the popular part but my unpopular opinion is that it makes me feel very unlikely to vote at all. I HATE having to choose the lesser evil even though I know one of them is going to win.

@JAGinMI My brother (a huge Sanders supporter) said he'll vote for Trump just so he has a hand in watching the world burn. I have no idea what I'm going to do yet, and I fear that third party voting is just a vote for Trump too.
I get the stink eye for this every time.... I hate the show the office, and I'm really not a Steve Carrell fan at all. Okay hate is a strong word, I've laughed at the show a few times but I just don't like the show all that much.
@Burrberrymum My BFF hates The Office. She thinks it's outright stupid. The weird thing is that we bonded over "That's what she said" jokes. I don't have the heart to tell her where it's from.
@dubcompanion and @JAGinMI it shouldn't have to be two evils, check out Gary Johnson before you decide to stay home... if Johnson gets 5% of the vote the libertarian party gets federal funding like the major parties and a new party has a fighting chance next cycle.

@KellyT22 soccer is the worst!! I also hate basketball... I'm a wicked big sports fan but I just can't do it. I tell my husband that in basketball the last 2 minutes are all that counts because the scoreboard just goes back and forth. And why do the finals have to last as long as the damn regular season?!?! LOL sorry, rant over..
@ashannon3490 I hate professional basketball, but I love college basketball. Totally agree that the last few minutes are all that matters though! Give me football any day.
As a Canadian, the US election is scaring the bejeezus out of me.
Yes. As an American, I am seriously scared! My husband and I have always identified as Republican, but Trump terrifies us. We think that his arrogance, ego, and lack of knowledge about foreign policy could legitimately get us into world war three. Of course, Hillary scares me too, for a whole host of other reasons. @chrstna618 I will have to research Gary Johnson!
UO: I thought what Ted Cruz did last night (speaking in support of the party at the convention, but not directly endorsing Trump) was really brave and showed integrity.

I agree! I didn't actually watch but when I heard about it, I thought good for him. Because every time one of these other idiots endorses the person they have spent the last year bashing, I am disgusted. Thoroughly disgusted.

To PPs who are talking about the ridiculous list of food that we "can't" eat while pregnant, FWIW my SIL is from Japan and didn't even know we aren't supposed to eat sushi. They do it all the time over there and it's no big deal. And it's not like Japan is a Third World country that wouldn't know better. Pretty sure their kids turn out just fine. Also, I ran into a lady when I was pregnant with my first at a bar (I was the DD of course) and she said that when she was pregnant at the end and calling the doctor with contractions he told her to go have a glass of wine and put her feet up. She was from Germany. I'm still following the rules but I do think that there's risk in anything you do in life.
UO: I think bubble wrapping kids' lives also follows the same current of safety for no reason. I'm all for seatbelts and such, but now the law in PA is to rear face until age 2. When DD was 15 months we had to all but fold her in half to get her in the car seat so we turned her around then. I think it should be up to a parent's discretion after 12 months.
I still co-sleep with my 3 year old and 18 month old... And I love it. It's the best (for our family, for now).
I nurse my 18 month old and don't plan on stopping- unless he stops or it gets super uncomfortable (I'm not a nursing martyr either). Also I think that formula is a wonderful invention- go formula feeding moms! Feed the babies.
I also thought being a 3rd time mom would be less exciting because you know, been there, done that... Twice. But it's actually more fun. Mostly because I care WAY less about everyone's opinions on my parenting or pregnancy. I wish I was more like this from the get go.
My UO is that I am an unapologetic Clinton supporter. She wasn't my first choice (I was team Biden all the way), but given the current candidate pool and the hatred infecting the Republican party, I will vote for her without hesitation.
