Anyone not doing cow's milk??

Hi! Anyone doing something other than cow's milk? Please share what you're doing. We plan on discussing alternatives at LO's 1 year appt with the pediatrician but was hoping to hear others' experiences. TIA!

I am still nursing so I haven't really introduced cows milk. I was wondering if perhaps almond milk would have the benefits babies also need. Perhaps you could ask about almond milk! I use to drink it and it's more delicious than regular milk. Also they have a powder milk that my family use to give us when young Called Nido. It's very popular in Latin American countries and very good too! They have for every stage from 1 year olds to Kindergartner to Adulthood. They sell it in supermarkets and even amazon. And if you're worried about the lactose, you can always ask if Lactaid would be a good option.  Keep us posted mama!
  • Thanks @n3na94. Awesome job as you're still breastfeeding! After I stopped BF, we started using this (see photo below). It says "toddler formula" because the brand feels infants should be exclusively BF until age 1. After tons of research, it was the best we could find. Our Pedi said it was fine for our LO. We're thinking of just sticking with it (of course limited in amount as we're slowly transitioning to solids still) if we can't find a good plant-based alternative. We drink almond milk, take multivitamins and try to eat a balanced diet but LO is quite there with solids yet... So I guess time will tell.

  • I breast feed too. My lo will turn one next week and figuring out of I should give her lactate milk or almond milk. I know she has a protein intolerance.
  • Our little one isn't to happy about switching to whole milk (not drinking much and making mommy worry about dehydration in the hottest part of summer) so we are trying Similac Go n Grow toddler drink. So far, he doesn't seem to notice any difference between it and his old formula.

Thank you so much @mrsrep123! And thank you for the information! I didn't know about this one, and I like it's organic! You're doin great mama!
  • We're still bf so I haven't introduced cows milk just yet, I don't even keep it in the house! We usually have almond milk around because I prefer it but I've heard it isn't high enough in fat (haven't had our 1 year check up yet though). I'm considering trying cashew milk with him first instead (which is still really yummy lol)
  • Our little guy isn't taking cows milk so well, we've switched to soy. It's 50% more calcium than regular milk so I think I may just keep him on it for awhile.
