A couple days late but, my FFFC is that this is just my first baby and I'm already not planning on washing all new baby clothes and crib sheets before using them
I thought I was the only one I don't do it when I buy new clothes for myself either.
Maybe I'm a crazy person, but I feel like babies' skin is just so much more sensitive and I don't know what those clothes have come in contact with. I don't always wash my own new clothes but will for the baby. That said... Being honest with myself here, I'm sure it wouldn't make a difference either way lol

Did you know they put formaldehyde on most baby clothes to stop it from creasing? I decided to wash everything when I found that out. Womp womp.

Of course if it irritates his skin, I will start. I just don't know what size he will need when he's born and I don't want to take the tags off in case I don't need nb size. I will probably do the sheets, though.
Definitely wash the new baby clothing. I'm only washing a few outfits and blankets that I know I'll be using and going from there. In all honesty we should be washing the new clothes we have on our own backs as well. I used to work for a retail store and did the stock room and some things aren't very clean... Just an FYI.

I worked at at clothing warehouse, and I would like to use one fine example of why I now always ALWAYS wash new clothes- We once got a large shipment of clothing from a Walmart, and this also happened with an Urban Outfitters shipment, that had extreme water damage to the bottom of the pallets/containers. The clothes at the bottom were molded and rotten, clothes in the middle were hit or miss, clothes at the tops carried the mold smell. What did my employer recommend? Salvaging everything that didn't have visible mold damage, air it our, spray febreeze on it, ship to retailer. GROSS. if you won't wash your own new clothing, fine. I urge you to wash babe's though!
WTF @ formaldehyde?!?! Maybe I'll unconfess haha...that is just wrong!
I'm totally in "bump" mode here and I was like "what? some users name is formaldehyde? and apparently they said something crazy" and I scrolled up looking for said user.....
@TurtleMomma what?? Bottle feeding a breast fed baby is different?? How? I am such a noob at this, that actually surprised me. I knew there could be challenges (nipple confusion) but I didn't know there was more to it than that.
Very simply, milk from the breast comes in waves while milk from a bottle comes in a constant stream. The point of paced bottle feeding is to mimic the wave-nature of milk flow from the breast. Also, creating a "wave" of milk release at the breast takes effort on the babe's part but tipping a bottle back with a constant flow takes no effort and some babes get used to that and don't want to work for it anymore. Lastly, paced bottle feeding tends to keep babes from over-eating (extremely important if you are pumping) because they're more likely to stop eating when they're full because a feeding takes a little longer and they can better recognize full cues.
Oh and to add to the washing clothes thing. So far we bought everything used for baby, so we definitely washed it all - but sometimes I don't wash my new clothes....that is until I saw that urban legend about the maggets in the nipples after a woman didn't wash her new bra....total hoax but still freaked me out! So now I wash!!
