@mmclark10 That's super exciting the itching stopped so quickly! I have it too, but the bile salts are hanging out (just) below the "dangerous" threshold - so I'm being monitored - and scratching.
@court5608 I noticed it with my first at 37 weeks and at 33 weeks with my second. However, I think I was looking for it this time and probably had symptoms sooner the first time but chalked it up to normal pregnancy stuff. It definitely made me more anxious this time around, even with levels that didn't get higher than 20.
@Allisun85 Yes, it's crazy! I'm glad your levels aren't too high either! I took ursodiol this time for ten days before induction and it really helped. I actually noticed during labor that my palms were itchy and I hadn't taken any meds for about 12 hours so it was really doing something! Good luck on your induction! Mine went great, just remember to be patient.
Feeling a little better about having to be induced Mon 8/15. Doctor told me all the procedures and what he thought would happen.
It helped reassure me too. Since I'm already dilated and had a quick first birth, little bit of pitocin and he'll break my water and he thinks that will get me strong contractions (in labor). Still have my fingers crossed that I won't need the pitocin though or I'll go on my own.

Stuck in box
My first two labor were super fast. So when my water broke with this baby and my contractions were not strong or very consistent, I was surprised. My doc wanted to start pitocin immediately, and I wanted to wait and see if labor would start on its own. He explained to me how it works and why, and why there was no need to worry about it, especially in my case. He was right. I went from 4.5 to 10 about two hours after they started the pitocin. Considering I was induced, my labor was still pretty short. 4.4 hours, 2 of those spent pushing. Try not to stress, I bet everything will go good for you
Glad to hear you got such good results. My first was water breaking and 5 hrs of labor with 5 mins of pushing. I got an epi but it wasn't turned on and I was complete and pushing after it was placed.
This is baby is bigger so I doubt the pushing will be that quick. But I really am trying for an unmedicated birth (spinal headaches with epi last time), so trying not to be scared with the idea of pitocin.
It's nice to hear so many good induction stories. I really, really don't want to be induced next week at 40, 3days. I just don't see why and there are no health indications I should be induced. I feel like a pushover.
@MissBuffalo Im sorry you feel that way but I hope you can see there are really positive induction stories. Have you talked to your OB? Don't feel like a pushover, there just comes a point where its safer to have baby out versus in.
Still a couple weeks out, but I've been scheduled to induce on August 18th! Love having a date to look forward to! And I've loved reading this thread. I knew there was a chance of induction because of my heart condition.
I've officially chickened out of my induction scheduled for Tuesday and opted instead for the c section on Thursday. I would like to think I made a well thought out decision to not attempt an external version to flip the baby. I keep second guessing myself. Has anyone had success with a version followed by induction? Is it crazy to opt for a major surgery without trying everything else first? I read the procedure risks pamphlet I was given and all of the risks for the version seem to be to the baby. My ob says both options are reasonable but I can't quit second guessing my decision.
@alycat I was not in your position, but my cousin made the same decision as you (opted out of the version and went for the csection instead). She never seemed to regret her decision, although she hopes for a vaginal delivery the next time! She also chose to not do the version because of risks to the baby.
Doctor and I do not want to do an induction unless medically necessary (I've had a lot of amniotic fluid so if that's still the case at my next sonogram which is Monday for my 38w, then we may talk about an induction). OR if baby stays in past 40 weeks. So, I will schedule an induction probably around 41 weeks (it's so that if the hospital is full I'll have a spot). And since the placenta starts to die after 40 weeks. Here's to hoping baby comes out before then! I want my body to just do it's normal thing.
@slycat I had a friend that had a successful flip and then an induction that was successful. I don't know the full details but she was a good candidate, it was done in hospital, and she really trusted her OB. She also really wanted to avoid a CS.
How many of you actually went in for your induction at your scheduled time?
I was originally scheduled for 5am, but at my appt the day before, the doc decided to do cervadil overnight, so I was rescheduled for 7pm that night. They admitted me at the scheduled time, though I didn't actually get the cervadil placed til after 9

I just called my hospital to see what I should do since they told me to hold off on coming in at 2am. They said they have impending deliveries and to just hang out at home and wait for a call later today. I'm supposed to work 11a-7p today (at the same hospital in the ER). Ugh I was really hoping to avoid going in. I've been having contractions all night but they're far apart right now.
At my 38 week appointment, they did a sono and baby is measuring 8 1/2 pounds. Doctor said she really doesn't recommend I go past my due date, so that we should schedule an induction. (they were very confident in the reading and believe if anything they may only be half pound off.). So I am scheduled to go in Sunday Aug 14th at 9pm to get everything started. (my due date is the 20th, and the 14th was the only date available that week). Still hoping baby decides to come on his own this week, but we will see!
So they rescheduled my induction for me come come in at 2am tonight to get pitocin started. Hopefully 2nd time is the charm! I've been having contractions all day 15 minutes apart and no question they are contractions! I think LO is ready, so who knows might head in sooner if they get closer together! I'll update in the labor r thread if things go as planned tonight. I just got home from work, going to try and get some shut eye!

Good luck!!! FX they don't reschedule and you have that baby in your arms tomorrow night!

Induction finally scheduled for tonight! My doctor went on medical leave csuddenly so i have been shuffled between three this week with little communication. Sigh. Nothing like needing an induction and finding out about it 3-4days prior.
Ok. Tonight is my last night home before my scheduled induction. Did anyone try any last ditch efforts to get baby/labor to come naturally before going in? I'm thinking maybe to try pumping tonight.
@ThisisNumber3, I'm seriously considering pumping too! My due date is actually Sunday, but if he doesn't arrive on his own, I'll end up with an induction next week.
@ThisisNumber3 I used my pump for maybe 5 min and went into labor less than an hour later. I actually was just checking the suction, because one of the tubes had a kink in it. I'm not sure if it actually spurred on labor, or it was just a coincidence, but definitely worth a try!
Lol @Bookhousegirl I'm imagining the amount of induction hopeful pumping you spurred with your comment of going into labor an hour later. I'll certainly be giving it a try tomorrow!
@Bookhousegirl thanks. I pumped 15 minutes each side this morning and had a few real contractions. Going to do another 15 min each side tonight. No labor yet though.
@ThisisNumber3, I'm seriously considering pumping too! My due date is Sunday, but I was still only 1cm and 50% on Tuesday when I went to the Dr. They don't anticipate me going into labor on my own before Monday.

It looks like my OB is on call Friday 8/12 or Friday 8/19. So if I want him to deliver its 39w3d or 40w3d.
